Re: Dancing in London and Europe
London is tough. I've danced at Stringfellows and Spearmint Rhino London tottenham Ct Rd. Hard clubs to get into. they will not audition you, they will just make thier decision on the spot based on how you look in your street clothes (at least that's how they did it with me). Dress to show off your figure, but not like you are trying too hard. I wore cute tight sweat pants and a baby t-shirt but my makeup was all in place. They asked me when i could start and I said "right now" and that's what got me the job. Go by yourself with no girlfriends. Be quiet and do not try to suck up to anyone before you have the job, since it won't work. At both clubs practically any name you can think of is already taken and in thier database, so come up with a name that is very unusaul so you don't waste thier time. I mean REALLY unusual. When I was hired they called me Astrid and the girl who got hired right next to me was called Hedda. Every other name was taken, we had to look them up in a "Baby names" book. Once you get in immediately introduce yourself to the bouncers (all of them) and tell them you are new and just want to make sure you understand all the rules and do everything right, since you need these mofos on your side. If they are not on your side, your life will be hell. After they have given you advice thank them and then say is it appropriate to tip them? This continues to let them know that you are on THIER side. For me this made all the difference since I found the girls to be catty and cliquish and kinda ruthless. Also, IMHO British guys are cocky little shits who like for a girl to be very passive in conversation but dominant sexually. So laugh at all thier pompous jokes, debate them healthily on any topic except the personal and psychological and when you get them in the lap dance whisper stupid shit in thier ear along the lines of, "You wish you could fuck me, huh, little boy." Mind-game shit. This seems to work particularly well with the "investment banker" types who are ALL over London and are prolific in the clubs. I was so glad to get back to the good ole US of A, I think I danced to Lynard Skynard for a week straight.
Oh, and BTW, the house fees are ridiculously high. Make them early in the night so that monkey is off your back. If a guy wants you to sit and talk, just tell him, "I can as soon as I've made my house fee, so would you like to contribute to that since I have two-hundred more pounds to go?"
And BTW, you won't need a rug. You may never even go on the main stage (so many girls) and all the mini stages are too small for floor work, you just pose on a platform with a pole.
IM me if you have any other questions. Good luck! I've made it sound hard (not meaning too, but I just want you to be prepared. I don't know how much money there is in London, it depends on where you're staying, and if your expenses are covered. Although far less glamorous, i think there's more money to be made outside of the city (in Manchester/Birmingham, etc.)
Re: Dancing in London and Europe
What about Germany ?? ANy of you know much about that ??
Re: Dancing in London and Europe
I had a look at the clubs in Manchester, there are 5 and there are 8 in Birmingham that are on the club directory on this site. Manchester is a huge football town, and we should all know by now what drunken football fans and players are like when they hit the clubs, let alone strip clubs. Gropey and too smashed to know what they are doing. Hang on... there is some appeal in that thought (!). But I wanted to ask, what do you think the appeal of places like Birmingham and Manchester are, and why would girls make more money there rahter than in London?
Also, I checked out a couple of the sites for these clubs.. in Manchester : I think Xanadu is like a swingers club!! And at Totties, dances are only 5 pounds before 7pm and 10 pounds afterwards, so I fail to see where the big money is considering all other dances are 20 pounds everywhere else.
Birming has 8 clubs as I mentioned, including a Speamint Rhino and Spearmint Rhino Extreme? Also, Sensations, and the Rocket Club which looked fancy.
Re: Dancing in London and Europe
I've worked in Birmingham, it is too saturated. A lot of girls travel there to work as well and the standards are lower. There is money there but you had better be prepared to hustle it. In Manchester, I think it's topless only but I'm not too sure. You can do a little more research and find out from the other UK websites. Good luck! xxx
Re: Dancing in London and Europe
Forget Birmingham girl, my sister works there and its crap. Mo competition with London.
Dancerlala: Man you seem to have went through a ton of crap while you were in London.
Corrections though, yes you still have to do an onstage audition for the clubs you mentioned. You probably didnt becuase your American and they are pretty rare on the ground in London so your a good bet on making money, just as I didnt have to audition at all the clubs ive worked in so far in USA because im English (good huh?).
Germany, as France are moneymakers as long as you go to the big cities like Berlin and Hamburg.
ANd there is no avoiding Elaine the Spearmint housemom. She auditions the night girls. Its easiest to audition in the day for day shift with someone else and ask to change shifts a couple weeks later
Re: Dancing in London and Europe
Charlygirl, do you have a visa to work in the States? How long have you been working in the USA? Where do you work? I'd like to work in the US but don't want to be illegal.
Re: Dancing in London and Europe
i am going to the uk soon and wanting to dance there too. Please keep us updated on how you go, I have no idea where to go at the moment, i'm just getting my work visa and going over, then sorting it out.
Re: Dancing in London and Europe
Will be in the UK in about 13 hours time!!!
Re: Dancing in London and Europe
I am here in London and so jet lagged right now!
I will see how I feel tomorrow and then I think I will start the audition process! Anyone have an idea of which club is really hot right now? I have done my research but if you are a working dancer in London, I would like to hear your views.

Re: Dancing in London and Europe
You could try Stringfellows @ www.stringfellows.com or Spearmint Rhino @ www.spearmintrhino.com (<-- I think those are the correct websites). Get their contact details and see what they say! I am going to London next week (not to dance), so if you want to meet up, let me know.
Glad you got to the UK safely :)

Re: Dancing in London and Europe
So how did dancing in London work out?? I want to move to London for a few months (I am obsessed with England and English people even though I have never left this country, hahaha) and was very curious on dancing there and if the money is good or not. I am very afraid of a 200 pound house fee though.... :-( That's a lot of money... especially when converted into U.S. dollars.... :-)
Re: Dancing in London and Europe
London is terrible!! Venus is ok for money, but you have to drink a shit load of Champagne, the manager is a fuckwit and the girls are bitches. I also worked at Stringfellows and Spearmint. Half the girls make money, the others go home with nothing. I hope you sorted out a work visa. If you did, I would say get the hell out of London, that's where the real money is. Try the Coastal towns and don't forget about beautiful scotland!! It is impossible for a non-EU dancer to work in France. I have a UK permit but I cannot work in other countried. Italy, well it's tough. Europe is not the place to go if you want to make and save money. Too many dancers, really high house fees and expensive accomodations. (shitty, too) I was paying $2000 usd a month for one room in London. I hope this helps.
Re: Dancing in London and Europe
Sorry to keep repeating myself but you should try the strip pubs, especially Browns and the White Horse, they are much better than any of the clubs.

Re: Dancing in London and Europe
Listen to Tyke!!! In London your only hope is the Pubs. Reallly really hard to get into, the audition girls once a week and you cannot pick your shifts. You mught get one, or you might get 5. Good money, but you have to be extremely fit and a good dancer. You will be doing a big pole show so just twirling around on stage won't cut it.
