My Red Hair is fading ! Please help
Okay last Sunday I finally made the big leap and got my hair dyed red.
Its a pretty deep, dark color and I love it. The only problem is the color is starting to fade. My natural color is blonde, do you think that might be the problem ? Also if anyone knows of a good shampoo and condition pllleeeezzzee let me know the name and where I can buy.
Thanks a bunch : )
Farrah
Oh, I'll post a pic later .

I don't know much but I think all Red Hair fades pretty fast
Re: My Red Hair is fading ! Please help
Red fades faster than any other color. :( It's why I stopped dying my hair red, it was too damn hard to keep up (i'm also naturally blonde). The one thing I found that worked well was a sort of "color refreshing" shampoo I made myself.
I mixed baby shampoo with the appropriate color of manic panic/special effects type temporary hair color, work into hair like regular shampoo but let it sit for a minute or two, then rinse and condition with a color seal shampoo. You can experiment with how much of the temp. dye to put in the shampoo and how long to leave it setting in your hair before rinsing to fine tune how much oomph you get out of it. :)
Hope that wasn't too confusing and somewhat helpful...

Yeah, red is the fastest pigment to fade. Which sucks supremely, I know.
I have this conditioner and it really boosts my color, but other than that I don't think there is much you can do.

Look for Red Hot Mama.

hmm....that link doesn't work for me. But they're right, Farrah. You need a color refresher shampoo or conditioner. I used to use Graham Webb, but a quick google indicates they've discontinued the product. bummer.
One of life's strange little mysteries: Red hair fades the quickest, yet is a bitch to fully remove from your hair.
Re: My Red Hair is fading ! Please help
Red hair is the hardest color to stay in my hair. I use Matrix Biolage "Earth Tones True Red" refreshing color conditioner. Sirona also had a great idea I think I am gonna try that sometime.
Re: My Red Hair is fading ! Please help
The red color refresher shampoo thing is also good to counteract the green you can get in your hair from hard water. :)

Oops! Fixed the link in my other post!

Red does fade the fastest but after you've done it a number of times, it does last longer. It kind of stains your hair so that it lasts. I'm really liking the new Matrix Color.Smart system. I got a sample pack at Trade Secret for $12.95. I'm thinking maybe Ulta would carry it too? It has a shampoo, conditioner, smoothing cream, shine spray and a deep conditioner. Seems to be helping alot. I used to use Avedas color deposit conditioner in Madder Root as well. I also got a water filter for my shower. Works the same as a filter for your kichen sink. Filters out all the chemicals in your water that can cause your hair to fade or look dull. This is true for any hair color or type. I got mine off ebay for around $28 including shipping. hth!

I feel ya! My city is actually in the top ten worst cities for dye jobs, due to our water. Fades like a b***h. My hair also grows REALLY fast, so I'm in the salon every 4 weeks.....
As for shampoo/conditioner, I use Tigi Catwalk Fashionista. It's color-safe...and I LOVE it! I have super naturally curly hair, and this makes my curls so soft and really moisturized.
Re: My Red Hair is fading ! Please help
Redken and ArtTec make color-depositing shampoos and conditioners. You can work a thin film of the color into your hair, let it sit, and wash with a gently shampoo--that will help to keep the color alive.
I have fading hot pink hair with roots. Blech. I'm redoing it again. As the others said, red fades THE fastest. It also depends on the type of dye. Special Effects hair dyes work great--the color in the bottle is the color you get. I've seen other red dyes turn pink--my hubby knows that all too well.:D

hey farrah, you may want to try phyto hair shampoo and conditioner. I read somewhere that it is like number one, or one of the top shampoo/conditioners on keeping color.
You can get it at buy best, and high end salons :)

Or Sephora stores or at sephora.com. That's where I get mine.
