Any women firefighters in here? Any one want to do it as a job?
I don't think there are any women firefighters in here, but there is another fireman member named FireDawg....
My boyfriend is a Lt. also.....;)
Here is an avatar for ya if you like it...
no but my dad is a firefighter... and hes trying to recruit my husband.. lol
Thanks for the avatar.
I knew it was a long shot, but hey it was worth a shot.
:D
i have a friend who is a firefighter for about 5 months a year in alaska... i've actually thought about it alot b/c he says it makes good money and i like the whole having to be strong and physical bit, along with the fact that i would be doing something to really help... but i have to gradute college first b/c our summer break isn't long enough to get hired for the whole season... also i know it's probably really hard to get hired as a woman, but i've definitally thought about it alot...
As a seasonal technician in field biology, I met a lot of forest service firefighters, and I seriously considered applying, but then I moved back East for awhile, and now i think I'm too old....But Dancing Girl, I don't think it would be hard to get hired AT ALL; you know, it's a government thing and they need to show that they have equitable hiring practices and all that. I met a lot of female FS fighters at the barracks. I'd apply; it sounds cool! (But you'd want to ask your friend a lot of questions so you'd know what you were getting into. Alaska can be pretty hardcore wilderness depending on where you are...I lived in Anchorage for awhile, and loved it, but you'd want to be prepared for whatever you'll be likely to encounter (grizzlies, giant & abundant mosquitoes, etc....)
thanks nicolina,
i probably wouldn't want to do it in alaska, i'm originally a southern girl, and once i graduate i can't take much more of the freezing cold, but it's good to know that i can probably do it after i graduate. also it helps to know that forest services is who i should contact, b/c my friend joined a group put together by his family and didn't really know how i would get into it. hmm... ideas are begining to hatch in my head :) thanks again.
I tried out to be a volunteer firefighter, but my physical test at the time was one minute over-- I blamed it on the hose drag, because I'd sprained my ankle a week prior to the test. Thought about it, but now I like my job. But I like firefighters too, and especially think that any woman that can do it without being a token is ABSOLUTELY kick ass!! ; )
A few years back there was a hot firefighter stripping off shift in Indianapolis. My thanks for the memory.
wow
Never wanted to be a firefighter but I always wanted one.
