I noticed that Jane Roe aka Norma McCorvey filed a suit in the Supreme Court asking them to over turn the decision that made abortion legal. Although I don't think Roe v Wade will be reversed I do sometimes worry about it. Especially, now that Chief Justice Rehniquest is moments aways from stepping down, as well as Sandra Day O' Connor and Justice John Paul Stevens. That means President Bush will have three appointments to make which could seriously affect the sometimes conservative sometimes liberal Supreme Court. Justice Antonin Scalia is probably next in line for Chief Justice if all three of these justices step down. And he is a ultra-conservative. He has 9 children, a strict Catholic, doesn't believe in abortion (obiviously) and he's one of these interpretivists-which means that he thinks when interpreting the Constitution, judges should attempt to determine the original intentions of the Framers and not stray far from that. Instead of viewing the Constitution as a living document and to deal with the felt necessities of the times, he would like to take us back 200 years just to maintain the orginial intent. Which seems absurd to me.
While I wouldn't have an abortion I do think that is and should always be a womens choice. Unless people want to see young women, who feel they have no other choice, going to underground abortion clinincs where they use a folding table and a dirty knife they should let sleeping dogs lie.
I don't know................ Do I have somethng to be worried about? Or am I being parnoid?
