My club closed on Saturday....
(cross-posted to blue site as well)
So my home club's last night was this past Saturday, as some of you may know. As of now, no other club is opening up in my town, so there's a mass exodus of dancers from our club to the surrounding towns. It's been... interesting.
In any case, the story's been picked up by local media, and I thought I'd post a link to one of the stories. Mods, feel free to move to club chat or anywhere else, if deemed more relevant.
This was published in my college paper in regards to the closing of my club. Just thought it's kinda interesting - fucking conservative, closed-minded city dictators!!
And an excerpt:
Claiming that their services constitute a "socially enriching experience for both performers and patrons," the owners of a Coralville strip club filed a lawsuit against the city on Feb. 23 after facing difficulties with Coralville city ordinances.
The owners of Dolls Inc. believe the city infringed upon their constitutional rights by rezoning the land on which they had planned to move their business to a type of property that doesn't allow strip clubs. The lawsuit asks for an injunction against the zoning laws, as well as attorney fees and relief.
Re: My club closed on Saturday....
Im sorry you have to go thru this,i see it happening to alot of girls over the next ten years as this industry is "herded"into certain areas.
I think its alot like the "strip"in every town where all the collages go to drink and party, its all about control and containment,im sure alot of bible thumpers were behind it as well.
I think in more conservative states, strip clubs wont be in the big cities, but really nice, upscale places just on the outskirts or near the airports.
I think in the less conservitive states, strip clubs will be in the city, but they will all have to be way way upscale and will be heavy regulated and appeal to couples as well as primarily just single males.
I think more lower end, middle end,and mom and pop run clubs are really going to get nailed in the next 10 years and only the "chains"and top dollar high end clubs will really survive.
If i were at the beginning of a dancing career,I would do a couple of things.
1)I would find the biggest, nicest, company run club to work for.
2)I would set up an internet site to compliment my personal appearences at the club.
3)I would start an emergency fund for things like this,or if the club got closed for just 2 weeks,or if i twisted my knee and couldnt work for 2 weeks, etc.
Sorry for the long rant,I just see this business as never a gurantee with insurence almost unheard of.
I hope the new club you go to is even better then the one that you left and everything is ok in a week or two!!!!
Best of luck
