Feeling like a Newbie Again.
I decided it was time to try another club and after some thought and horrid weather I decided to work at a club in the town I live in. That's not relevant, but anywho. I worked day shift today and it went well the first few hours. Got on stage twice, did a lap, and a champagne room....etc. etc....Then the night shift girls came on. Right before I was supposed to go up I got extremely nervous (which is unusual for me, I wasn't even that nervous when I first started stripping). Well when I went up for my set, there were three dancers sitting at the stage together. Being nervous, this only made me more paranoid. Plus, they were just staring at me and talking and I felt as if they were talking about me the whole time. Basically, i was so uncomfortable that I couldn't even focus on what I was doing. After my first song I ran off stage and hid in the lil booth next to the stage. I was sure as hell not going to come out. I just started bawling and I started to get that sick to the stomach feeling that I get on occassion. I mean, I have worked quite a few places, but never had this experience. The bartender/shift manager said that I was overreacting (which may be so) but I have never felt so uncomfortable. I mean, even at the club I just worked at, I felt at home the first night. The girls were welcoming and they talked to me. When I went in to work tonite, no one really talked to me. I'm afraid that now, when I got back they are all going to think I'm a jerk or something, especially if they get lectured for it. I didn't intend for it to be like that.....Sorry this is so long. I'm just really upset about the situation. Thanks for listening, if you are still reading...Oh, if this is incoherent, I am Sorry.
Re: Feeling like a Newbie Again.
awwwwww big hugs OOO are you planning on staying at this club, or was it just a onw off decision??
i know how you feel, i get the same way everytime i start somewhere new...even when i go back to an old club i get it....strange, but it normal to geta bit freaked out about it i think.
Re: Feeling like a Newbie Again.
Thanks for the hugs mermaidnz! I am planning on going back next week. I figure I might as well try it again, especially since I made decent money and would have made more had I not freaked out. I guess I just needed to vent last night. It's hard explaining these kinda things to my husband, he doesn't exactly understand what I'm talking about. But I figured someone on here would have the same experience. :-)
Re: Feeling like a Newbie Again.
Its sounds like you had a terrible experience with a couple of cunts who are trying to protect their "territory" and scare off the new girl. Don't let them sike you out anymore. Next time they feel the need to sit by the stage while you're dancing simply walk over and dance for them like you would any other custy. Maintain good eye contact with each and everyone of them, be sure to smile too. Confidence kills hatred !
Re: Feeling like a Newbie Again.
Thanks for the advice Farrah!
Re: Feeling like a Newbie Again.
Exactly what Farrah said... You really should think of it as a complimtent, when that many dancers feel threatened it means that you have something that they feel that they can't compete with. You should feel good about this because even customers can sense when other women feel lesser and they usualy go for the girl that seems to impress even the dancers.

I agree with both Ladies. I just completed a stress management class at school and this sounds similar to one of our scenarios of trying to break someones self-esteem. Basically if a person or people get in your face and insult you (in this case mentally psyche you out) just smile back at them and say 'thank you' or even winking will work. This does two things. Smiling back at someone who has attempted to insult you boggles the hell out of them and they don't know how to react, resulting in you having the last word. Secondly smiling or pretending to be accepting triggers in your body and mind a relaxation response, which overpowers stress. Make sense? I'm sure you are a threat to them so be strong, and keep whatever it is you're doing right up.
Re: Feeling like a Newbie Again.
I just wanted to thank you all for your support. I feel so much better now, but at the time I posted, I was so discouraged. I'm gonna go in and work this week like I'm supposed to. I'll keep in mind everyones' tips. :-)
Re: Feeling like a Newbie Again.
I just started a new club so I understand how you feel. I was so nervous, I am usually in controll at all times. The girls were watching me like a hawk. No one talked to me, but I just focused on the customers and I did really well. I think it sucks how you are treated when you are the "new" girl.
Re: Feeling like a Newbie Again.
At the club I worked at I was one of the head dancers, so when new girls came in we would sit at the stage and watch them as well. However we would be there to cheer them on and tip the to make them feel more comfy. Sorry you had a bad time, just give it another go...you've been throught this before. You'll be fine!
Re: Feeling like a Newbie Again.
Go back to the club and dance. It seems like a big deal to you with what happened...but believe me..the others have forgotten what happened by now...they have their own crazy lives to deal with. Don't worry. As long as you act like nothing happened then people won't think anything about it...they'll just think you had a bad day. And even for a girls who's been dancing a while...I always feel a little nervous when the other dancers watch me...its must just be something that we feel with chicks staring at us.
Go back and Good luck!
Re: Feeling like a Newbie Again.
I just want to say thanks to everyone for the advice. I'm going in to work tomorrow. I'll let everyone know how it goes. :-)
