silly girl with stupid question
Hi ladies! I have been reading this forum for a couple months now and have been giving serious thought to giving dancing a try. This is my first post. ;D Anyhow, I'm 18 years old and am going to keep thinking about it (and working on my body) until I'm at least 19.
When you first started out, were you living at home? Or did you try dancing when you were a little older as a second job?
A problem I have is that I'm living in Alberta, where apparently all the $$$ is in Canada. But I'd much rather not work in Edmonton - where I lived for a while and have tons of family - or Calgary - where I live now and have lived for the last 5 years of my life.
I think packing up and moving to a whole other province with absolutely no dancing experience and little money is a stupid idea, and yet the chances of me getting any experience here is slim considering my paranoia. So I guess what I'm asking is... what did you do when you were just starting out? I'm real young so I don't have a lot of money. I dont even have a car...
BTW, I do plan on going to school. I just don't know what I want to take yet. :-\ And maybe it sounds crazy but stripping has been something I've thought a lot about in the last few years and the more I learn, the more I want to do it. I even went out and bought the shoes not knowing if I'll ever wear them. ::)
Thanks for any replies. :P
Re: silly girl with stupid question
Hell, do what you wanna do. I would work where I am if I were you. Some girls wear so much makeup and have their hair done so differently that no one even recognizes them outside of the club. Go where the $ is. If this is what you want to do, do it.
Re: silly girl with stupid question
I agree stay where the cash is...if not then just make enough to move away. But, thats why most of us if not all strip is b/c the money honey.
*Yea Im living with my mom right now and even when I 1st started I lived with my mom...of course after I made enough I moved out. But, since you dont have a car to hide things in hmm that might be hard.
Maybe you can hide things at a friends house or the garage? Until you can go out on your own.
Just my 2cents
Re: silly girl with stupid question
I'm in a very similar situation. I'm 19 in edmonton, although i'm not worried about seeing friends and whatnot in a club, if they recognize me who cares.
I'm also currently in university, but I'm pretty certain that I'll be taking a year of next year.
I was contemplating getting into stripping about a year ago (when I was at home) and my mum wasn't too bothered by it when I told her. But now I'm living with my boyfriend and I'll be getting rides from him everywhere instead of her lol.
I'm getting started on my first amateur night(s) this week. Have you talked to any agencies yet or anything? That's how I've started and I don't know just how good of an idea this agency business is yet.
Anyways, good luck.
Re: silly girl with stupid question
Stay where the money is. Unfortunatley I had to lie to my parents about where I worked, they never found out back then. I have since moved out and back in and have committed my time to full-time school. As is with most students, I am laughably poor and am planning to start dancing again. My mom, who now lets me do whatever I want is OK with everything I do, just as long as it "Doesn't involve drugs, guns or street-walking". She has been a saint and I'm thankful for this. So far as recognition, you have to ask yourself if your friends are even the type to visit a club, if they are, make-up and hairstyles can change everything.
Re: silly girl with stupid question
To be honest I hadn't even considered working here in calgary. I guess it is something I should think about.
Thanks for the replies!
Re: silly girl with stupid question
You could always take out of town gigs (Red Deer, Grande Prairie, Ft. St. John, etc.). But, you will still have to have an explanation of where you are gone for a week at a time. It's pretty hard to hide this job, especially if you are working long shift - people will wonder why you are packing a suitcase and are gone all day & night. And why you come home with sacks of loonies!
You are absolutely situated where the money is in Western Canada anyway - it would make no sense to go elsewhere. Have you checked out the clubs? Talked to anyone to figure out how the system works? You do know it's very different that the US/Eastern Canadian strip clubs?
Of course there may be some VIP/table dance only options available in AB now, it's been over 6 years since I was in Edmonton, things have probably changed considerably.
Re: silly girl with stupid question
Ara - I went to my first SC the first time a week ago and it was very different from what I was expecting it to be. It was just a stage show, no lap dances or VIP. That's another thing that I'm unsure of because I thought I would be better at working the room. That way I learn how to dance better without always having all the eyes in the room on me.
They also gave away posters of themselves.... Not something I'd want to do.
Re: silly girl with stupid question
I was going to start a thread.... but here seems logical
I have been checking out clubs and stuff in my area, talking to some friends that have stripped. I want to do it, but i think that i would like to have a better body first...
I'm not fat, or anything, just untoned, anyway could some one please give me some tips on how to get rid of and keep away those love handles... i have been going to the gym but i still dont have much luck. my hips are my downfall, and before i start they have to go. I find that i have difficulty with sexy little undies and such sometimes because of my love handles, they kinda flop out at the sides. (thats a great image, only way i know how to say it)
My friends tell me that im "hot" but i think for the stage a girls should be a little toned...
Re: silly girl with stupid question
I agree...stay where you are. I heard it's really good there, I'm in Vancouver!
