Attn: all California Dancers
Im moving from Upstate NY to LA to go to college. Ive been dancing for a little over a year and a half here.
I was just wondering where is the best clubs to dance? I dont want the club to be close to school (people I would know). I wouldnt mind driving no more than 30 min. Could someone give me some suggestions?
-
Re: Attn: all California Dancers
depends on where you are going to school... LA is a huge city/metro area.
-
Re: Attn: all California Dancers
Also, since LA is so spread out (and sooo congested with traffic, unlike upstate NY) driving 30 minutes sometimes will only get you 10 miles. Realistically, expect a 45 minute to hour and a half commute if you want to get away from the possibility of running into someone you know.

Re: Attn: all California Dancers
I'd like to second this post. I've never danced before but I'm ready to find a club, find a night and get out there... Anywhere Orange, LA or or the cloest parts of San Bernardio or Riverside.... Ideas?
I'd prefer a topless bar to an all nude, and would rather make less at a low milage club, thanks!

Re: Attn: all California Dancers
In O.C. try Mr J's, Capt Creams, Fritz 2 in Anaheim, or The Library. They are all low contact air dance clubs, perfect for a newbie!

Re: Attn: all California Dancers
Thank you so much! All of those look like what I'm looking for... alright the planning begins... wish me luck.
-
Re: Attn: all California Dancers
look at zoning laws of clubs you are considering. Those that have stricter zoning laws are going to be less contact more stage. Hint the library to my knowledge is one of these.

Re: Attn: all California Dancers
try zbone.com a list of all the strip clubs in socal.

Re: Attn: all California Dancers
I work at the Spearmint Rhino here in Boise Idaho and have worked the Rhino in Redondo before... I made good money there... you might want to try out the Rhino's in L.A.... I think the City of Industry has one... just an idea.. although, I am not sure what that one is like.

Re: Attn: all California Dancers
The nude Rhinos in SoCal (LA, City of Industry, Rialto) are most definitely not for newbies...the staff, the other dancers and customers will eat you for breakfast and not even think twice about it.
OTOH, the topless Rhino in Torrance is a low-key, low touch, no extras of any type club with a moderate dancer tipout and the best floater/bouncer in the entire chain working there. There's also a new SR that just opened this week in Artesia, but I have no intel on that club as of yet.

Re: Attn: all California Dancers
Thank you CP!!!! I was hoping you'd post to this.. the one in Redondo Beach was nice.. the staff, the managers and the girls were all really nice, although, there were a few that weren't.. but not too bad....
Hope you are well my friend.. haven't seen you around in awhile!

Back when I was dancing in L.A. (about 2 years ago) the dancers would make jokes about the City of Industry whore houses. I don't know if anything has changed since then.
L.A. in general is not the best place for making $$ as a dancer. You might want to apply at Fatasy Island in W. L.A. on Pico which is a bekini club which is supposely under new management and no longer a total whore house. Some other places to try would be 4 Play, Bare Elegance, Jet Strip, The Body Shop and Crazy Girls. Definately check out zbones web site.
Also remember that a lot of the dancers in the L.A. area are very unproffessional and they will try to pick fights with you if they are jealous.
Be careful.

Re: Attn: all California Dancers
Yikes... why did I chose to live in the sunshine state again? Thanks for the tip on the Library, looks like a good place and is about the perfect distance from me.
People who want to eat me isn't what I'm looking for and though I probably stand a good chance in a fight... it's also something I'd REALLY love to avoid. So based on the reviews, it looks like I'm going to try the Library... only that totally blows my idea of wearing a school girl outfit because I have this really strong feeling that one may be a little overdone at a place called 'the library...':P

Re: Attn: all California Dancers
No, no, the schoolgirl always works, and it will work well at the library. For almost any girl coming from out of state with low-mileage expectations, LA is gonna be a whole 'nother ballgame, rapidly approaching SF levels.
For the newbie, or tamer dancer, I would try almost any club in Orange County (except Ecstacy or Imperial Theater, which can be higher mileage), and probably focus on Fritz in Anaheim. The Rhino in Torrane is good too, but Chili is right, any other Rhino will eat you alive unless you are a veteran hustler and ready to give up some mileage. Also, the split at the Rhinos is VERY high, you must pay a house fee, split the price of your dance 50/50, pay another dollar per dance to the DJ, bartender, waittress (es) and manager, and have seven drinks bought for you a night, or buy them yourself at 7 dollars a piece.
So let's say you sell twenty dances at twenty dollars each, totalling 400 bucks. You owe a twenty dollar house fee, twenty to the DJ, twenty to the bar, twenty the waittres, twenty to the manager, and you've also given twenty to the floater to not make your life hell. Perhaps you only got three customers to buy you drinks 'cause you were too busy trying to sell dances. So you owe for four drinks, another twenty-eight dollars. This means you walk with $258. Maybe that seems like a decent amount to you, but that's contingent on you selling twenty dances. And the girls next to you will be working VERY hard for thier money, if you know what I mean.

are chips being used at the Rhino's now in Socal?

Re: Attn: all California Dancers
One thing I liked about working in OC clubs is the strange policy of walking around the room to collect tips after your stage set. The crowd is mostly locals, so they know the drill and have the buck waiting. I always made very good stage money, and it gave me a chance to meet everyone in the room.

Re: Attn: all California Dancers
Does one need a license to work in Orange County? ... looking at coming out for a month or 2 :)

Re: Attn: all California Dancers
In Anaheim, which has the best club in OC (Imperial Theater), you do. Not sure about Lake Forest or Santa Ana, but I do not believe so. Which club are you looking at?

Thanks for the response CP :)
From what I have read I am looking at Captain Creams, The Library... Ecstasy, Mr. J's
Any word on those clubs?

Re: Attn: all California Dancers
Capt. Creams, The Library and Mr. J's are all what I refer to as "dancer blackmail" clubs. That is, the dancers go around the entire club (not just the tip rail) and stand in front of each patron until he coughs up a buck for a tip. There are very, very few lapdances done at any of the clubs, as they are all ZERO contact and therefore no one buys them, unless really drunk. A really good night might net you $200/$250, maybe 3/4s of that for a dayshift, if you hustle and if you appeal to those in the club at the time.
Ecstacy in Santa Ana is quite a different story. They actually have the most expensive lapdance in the entire LA/OC area, at $50 a throw, and a solid customer base. You need to be very good at approaching and conversing with PLs, establishing a solid repoire with them, before even thinking about asking for that lap. We're talking 2-3 songs at a minimum, maybe more. Laps here are semi-private bed dances, performed nude, with some 2-way contact expected (mild to moderate, nothing too crazy). You can make good money there if you stand out among some of the prettiest shifts in OC. If you can sell the laps, $400+ per night is not uncommon.
Be careful, though: Management is very strict about being on time and showing up for shifts; I hear they fired two girls who were no shows on Super Bowl Sunday.
I still maintain that ITA is the best club for dancers and customers in OC. VIP dances are $50 for 5, the place is usually filled on both day and night shifts, and there is a moderate amount of contact allowed, enough to keep the custys coming back for more while not so much that you feel like sticking a finger down your throat and puking after your shift. Most dancers I know make $300-$600 per shift here.

Re: Attn: all California Dancers
Thanks for the detailed descriptions CP... It is nice to know these things before jumping on the plane!!
I am somewhat ok with contact, but the scene at Ecstacy just sounds sleazy!
Is there ANY good clubs in the SoCal area that you would recommend that I could work at w/out a license?

Re: Attn: all California Dancers
I work at SR-Torrance. There is no drink selling requirement, although I get a lot of guys wanting to buy drinks instead of dances sometimes so even if it were, it wouldnt be a big deal. It is a topless club and very elegantly decorated. We have a makeup artist and a tanning bed, smokers lounge upstairs, and private bathroom. Money has been a little off lately, but if you are pretty good at chatting it up, you can consistently make about $300/shift or more. If you are implanted, you may do a little better, as the guys approach the stage more often when they see boobs (I'm all natural, so this doesnt apply to me). There are quite a few regulars but there are enough travellers and it is close enough to the airport to bring them in, so it is ok. Management is very flexible, there is no set schedule, you come when you want...very rare in LA, so it is awesome. You can PM me for more info if you want.

I think its just or mostly CA?

Re: Attn: all California Dancers
No, the only Rhino I know of that requires licensing is the one in Arcadia and of course Vegas. If you have a student visa or whatever, to legally work in the States, youre good. Torrance is about 15 min from Long Beach and is near Hermosa and Redondo Beach. From the general OC area...maybe a half hr to 45 min. You can always mapquest it from the city center of the OC city you will be living/studying in. Good luck!
