Something new I've started...
Well, things have been kinda slow in the past few months. 400-600 a week slow! I work at an all nude club in Pa. I love the club, and get along great with the owner. Before I moved to NC it was more like 800-1300 a week, but since I came back to Pa, the club slowed down. Recently, I've been able to pick things back up somewhat, and have made my money more up in the 800-1000 a week range. The thing is, I've started doing the old style Burlesque shows. I've never done anything like them before, even though I've been at this for 10 years. I got some of the more old style outfits, and have been using music from things like the movie Cabaret. I'm showing less and making more. Kinda weird for a all nude club. If your looking for new ideas, this might be something for you to look into.
Re: Something new I've started...
I've tried this... in my location it seems that the older 45 years older and above really enjoy this...
Re: Something new I've started...
Hey... that's my name! I danced by Nikki Lee for years.... :)
Re: Something new I've started...
Excellent advice Nikki Lee. I saw a few cool outfits on Trashy.com that were on the burlesque theme. Plus its a break from the usual shows most dancers do too !
Re: Something new I've started...
I used to, back when I still lived in NYC. Where I am now, however... it isnt worth it. I know maybe 2 customers who would dig it and that really isnt enough. Bleh. Nogoodlackofculturebackwoodscrapasstown.
Re: Something new I've started...
Trashy.com rocks! But a little too expensive for what you get. My .02$
Re: Something new I've started...
Such an excellent idea!
The very first club I worked in required 20-minute stage sets, where you really did a burlesque strip-tease--not just throwing your top off on your second song. I think this was one of the best things that has happened to me in terms of dancing, because it made me more creative on stage than many of the women who've only danced go-go bars. I still do the "pin-up" style outfits (which fit my body-tupe well, as I am fairly short and curvy), and the guys love that I am not just another chick in a bikini. :-)
Re: Something new I've started...
When I first started doing Burlesque shows at my club, I was a little worried about how the younger guys would take it. I thought that they might not 'get it' and find a lack of leg spreading action boring, but found myself plesantly suprised! 99% of the 18-30yr olds had never seen any thing like it before, and went absolutely wild.
I do Burlesque shows for 'regular' clubs, and had been hesitant to bring my tassles and fans to work, but I know for sure that the power of the tease is still strong ;D
Re: Something new I've started...
:( It is compulsory for the dancer to be full nude by the last song at my club otherwise I would all over this idea! I guess I could incorporate the use of a slightly see-thru scarf or something as while the dancer is full nude the dancer is not allowed to do open leg work or show pussy without her hand covering up.

Where do you find information about this? I would love to do something like this, especailly as I have a figure for it (a little extra-curvey) and I am thinking about going back to my silly juice bar, where they let you be pretty creative with your stage sets.
Can you suggest some good movies or websites or something wehre I can get ideas?

Which ones, Farrah? I don't think I would know a burlesque-theme outfit if it bit me in the ass!
Re: Something new I've started...
Thanks for the advice :) Glad this is working for ya!
Re: Something new I've started...
that is a great idea! Less can sometimes be more. I worked at a nude club where I didn't go nude (we had ot walk around the room to get tips and I was grabbed one too many times for me to risk doing nude.) I would wear itty bitty thongs thatI made myself and actually got tipped more than more of the girls that went nude! Guys thought it was cool that I was "different."
This doesn't always work since most clubs that nude require you to actually go nude, but it worked for me in two clubs.

Re: Something new I've started...
i love the retro look, especially trashy lingerie - but i too think they're way overpriced. can anyone recommend a good site for sexy retro style lingerie/outfits? i see some here and there on the regular dancewear sites, but they are few and far between.
Re: Something new I've started...
Another idea for the burlesque style costume theme is to go with stuff that you know younger people will recognize as being "retro", like this outfit which is clearly taken from the Pussycat Dolls scene in Charlie's Angels 2. I found it on Digitalthreadz.com for $68.99, but I'm sure you could put together something similar for less. The ladder fishnets really add to it, IMO.

I Love burlesque. Check out these websites for ideas:

You will be best off making (or have someone make) your own costumes. Gratituous use of beads, sequins and feathers helps a lot in burlesque costumes. I will buy plain items at walmart and adorn them with decorations purchased at fabric and craft stores. Another good resource is theater supply shops as they have a lot of great stuff that you would never find in lingerie shops like hats, gloves, scarves, and flashy costume jewelry.
I hope this is helpful, and enjoy making lots of money with your unique shows.
Re: Something new I've started...
I agree that less is more. Leaves some mystery. Especially if you end up almost nude. Still don't see the point of looking at a cookie you can't eat! Yes, any other part can be appreciated for it's beauty without touching.
