Selling Champagne!
Hello!
I have been working at a club in Wilmington, NC for the past 2 months. The thing is I have never sold champagne! How it works at our club is we have tablesides $10, couch dances $30, booth rentals $150+, shower shows $150+, and champagne sales $100 per bottle, unless it's the cheapest bottle, than it's only $20 (champagne allows customers w/o a VIP membership to sit in VIP). I have been able to sell shower shows and booth rentals....but NEVER champagne.
There are some girls in our club that just don't sell it really, but the top earners do! I don't want to end up being one of those girls who doesn't sell it. The big champagne sellers say it took them a while, but I feel like it's been long enough.
I guess it may be a little harder for me, since I am only 18 and not supposed to drink the champagne I sell. Also I look 12-16 (according to some people, not all), so maybe that is hindering my champagne sales? No one wants to have champagne with someone who looks like they are in HS/Jr. High? LOL! :P Anyway, any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Sincerely,
Tara

Re: Selling Champagne!
There are a lot of threads on this...try a search.
My theory is that if you can sell dances, you can sell champagne rooms, so don't let your youthfulness be an excuse.

Re: Selling Champagne!
Oh one more thing! Even though we make $100 off of each bottle of champagne the customer has to pay $210+, unless he buys the cheapest bottle, which is $130 (the one we only make $20 off of).
Thanks!

Re: Selling Champagne!
Hmmmm,
Do you happen to have any links to the similar threads? I tried searching "champange" and "selling champagne" and can't seem to find any? I also looked at the similar threads on the bottom of the page, but they are more about VIP dances, which is something different at my club. Maybe I just using the wrong keywords....or doing the searches wrong....argh I feel stupid here! LOL!

Re: Selling Champagne!
Dont feel stupid. I dont know anything but I think that in most places your selling them the champagne room with the champagne. So if your just selling the champagne that might be different. I dont know. Is there not a room that you take them into by yourself when you sell the champagne

Re: Selling Champagne!
I personally feel that her inability to partake in the champagne herself is actually hindering her and not an excuse.... it is a real obstacle. I say this because whenever a patron or customer at my club buys a bottle of sparkling or champagne (there is a difference) they usually buy it with the intent to partake of it with the dancer..... or to have the dancer(s) who are currently with him partake of it.
It is usually a drink bought to be social. If you can't partake of it due to being under-age (you would be of legal age in Australia) then that is a real obstacle/hurdle as the customer would feel 'alone' drinking it himself.
Plus, from my personal experience, it is more a drink for the dancers than for the customer or patron esp. if he is male. I find the male customers and patrons who purchase a bottle do not usually partake of it... they share it amongst the dancers.
Please forgive me for not being of any real help. I just wanted to make it clear to everyone else that your problem of being under the legal drinking age is not an excuse.. it is real.
;D

Re: Selling Champagne!
In our champagne rooms, the girls are allowed to have a "drink" instead of champagne. If she can do this, then she can order something non-alcoholic. There should be some kind of way for underaged girls to go to the CR

Re: Selling Champagne!
I am surprised that a club that sells liqour would allow an 18 year old to work there. Course, I'm from Chicago...and in order to even glance into a liqour club, you have to be 21+. Don't know what the laws/rules of NC are.
I think that you are more likely asking if they want some champagne: "Do you want to buy a bottle of Champagne?" You need to learn how to "lead" them to a yes answer: "Ooooh, a bottle of champagne and a VIP room would be so much fun...blah, blah, blah".
When I sold Champagne Rooms, I found that asking the guy if he wanted to get a room "NO" never worked. Using "yes" questions will get him on a roll..."Do you want to have more fun tonite?" "Yes" "Do you want to get some champagne...have a few hot dances?" "Yes" "We should go to the Champagne Lounge" "Ok."
It's all about sales/selling technique...maybe pick up a few books on sales/selling/making a closing the sale (Zig Ziglar comes to mind for some reason) and/or take a DancerWealth class.

Re: Selling Champagne!
Don't focus on selling the champagne, focus on selling intimacy between yourself and the customer. Don't even mention the consumation of the beverage, but rather use sensory adjectives to describe the experience.
I had to sell just champagne itself for commission ,at one club, and I sucked at it. I'd rather sell the sexiness ;)

Re: Selling Champagne!
VG, most places in the south you only have to be 18 to dance in ANY club.

Re: Selling Champagne!
Thanks so much for all your responses and help....
Sxxygirl311 - If someone buys a bottle of champagne they are also able to sit up in VIP, which isn't it's own privte room, but it's a much nicer room behind the stage and you can get VIP dances in there for only $20 as opposed to $30 in the couch room (you can only go to VIP with a VIP membership or sales of champagne).
GoldCoastGirl - Hmmmm, well I suppose I could invite other girls up....actually your response was really helpful, because I think I just had an idea! I could encourage the guy to buy champagne and if he didn't want it for himself, perhaps I could try the angle that me and some of my friends would still love to go to VIP and perhaps he would like to get a bottle of champagne for us sort of insinuate that it would be like a mini-party up there (there are always dancers looking for girls who have sold champange, so they can get some VIP dances or just get something free to drink, so getting girls up there for a bit wouldn't be a problem! LOL).
Emily - I have actually heard of some girls dumping little bits of their glass out when the customer went to the bathroom or wasn't looking, of course I would be a bit worried getting caught....because I'm pretty sure the customer would be very mad if some dancer was dumping part of his $210 in a fake plant!
VenusGoddess and Kryssy - That "yes" questions idea is a really good one, I'm definately trying that tonight! Also, I signed up for the DancerWealth newsletter and plan on doing the class soon too!
Katrine - Damn, that sucks that you had to sell champagne for commission....I don't think any girl at my club is able to sell champagne every night (some never sell and many don't sell it at first, if this is their first club dancing at), there are some that come close, but everynight! Maybe if it was less expensive? Ugh, still (the club does make a good $110 off our sales, but of course this is not mandatory)! I like the idea of using sensory adjectives....another thing to try tonight!
Velvet - yep, at are club you only have to be 18 to get in as well, of course it is quite expensive, unless you have a free pass and you have to wear a silly red shirt. Also, another club in our chain that I worked in for a few days, you had to be 21 to get in (it was in a different town), but only 18 to work at! How weird!
Thank you all very much! You guys gave me some good ideas for tonight!

Re: Selling Champagne!
I agree with Katrine. I sell champagne rooms more often when I describe it as more of a VIP room deal. I tell him its a place where we can be alone and in a more intimate setting. It's a place to get away from the circus going on in the club, and a place to keep the focus on the two of you getting to know each other better. I know I've never sold a champagne room for the champagne, always sell on account of intimacy and sensuality.
