multiple stages - screwing up shows/themes
Does anyone else think it's unfortunate/annoying [not like, world-ending or anything but just kinda annoying] when, say, you want to do a theme with gown/fishnets/lace and you're splitting a stage, and your stage-buddy plays rap music? Or you're in a school-girl outfit and you're playing Britney Spears or something equally bubblegum pop-y and the dancer on the stage across from you is in full-dominatrix gear and shooting you a dirty look? :P
There don't seem too many places where you do a good themed set without screwing up someone else's set or having your's messed up. Blah.
Any solutions or commiserations?

if your on the stage where you get to pick the music then who cares what the other dancer thinks! she'll get her turn to play her music for her set, and i'm sure the girl on the other stage dancin to her music will give her the eye of death too
Re: multiple stages - screwing up shows/themes
Yeah, but I've been places where there is one stage with one dancers, and it is a lot easier to actually put on a themed set, say with props and picked out lighting, than when you're splitting a stage with another dancer. It isn't so much "oh, she won't like my music!" is more like "wow, this Slayer really doesn't fit my cheerleader outfit" :P

I think I understand what you are saying, and that there is no animosity towards your fellow dancer....
I'v had it happen many times withe dancer before or after me who plays angry music, but I'm in my little bo peep outfit.... Many dancers remedy this by asking the Dj's (preferably the seasoned ones) not to put them with certain dancers that dance to certain music.
It works most of the time, but every once in a while I have the S & M chick dancing to kill me music while I just had on the soundof music (kidding, kidding.) But the contrast is pretty obvious and she'll usually look over at me and nod in agreement that me just don't mesh.
I say talk to the Dj, Grin at the customers, and try very hard to laugh it all off.

The club I am at now, we run 3 girls at once on one big stage, with 3 seperate poles. 1st pole-clothed,2nd pole-topless, 3rd pole-nekkid. And the THIRD song, centerstage, while you're nekkid, is yours. I realize it does put a bit of a damper on certain theme outfits. We did try, incredibly briefly, to switch it to "your" song being the first one, but then the girl wouldnt show up, or forget to put on the outfit she asked me specifically to play the song for an hour earlier, etc. It just didn't work. Not to mention the girl with her naughtybits out was getting the lion's share of attention anyway.
As a DJ, i understand about being next to a girl dancing to something completely opposite. Hopefully, you have a decent DJ who knows how to dance around this. Honestly, I rarely have a problem, and I think the main reason is I've got a pretty great relationship with most of the girls i have ever worked with. They don't mind if I throw a curveball, but I also generally warn them. I guess what i have seen in this type of club setting that works best is when two or three girls kinda coordinate something together. You know, 3 cowgirls, or whatever the case may be. If that's not possible....I'm rather inclined to agree to just do what you were gonna do anyway. I'm willing to bet you don't always like the girl's music in front of you or on the mainstage while you're on satellite or wherever. They can deal with yours, too.
