In one sense, the Terri Schiavo case is all about one woman's fate. But some believe a much larger fight is being waged, and the impact could radiate across the land.
The result could be state or perhaps even federal laws that would make it more difficult to remove a feeding tube, 15 years after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled on that issue.
For instance, last week, the Florida Senate, in a 21-18 vote, narrowly defeated a bill that would have prevented doctors from removing a feeding tube from patients who had not expressed their wishes in writing.
"What I think may have happened is some people have shifted, or have tried to shift, the battle line," said Dan Sulmasy, a Franciscan friar who is an internist at St. Vincent's Catholic Medical Center in New York and chairman of its ethics department.
"I suspect people who want to stop euthanasia and assisted suicide have taken this as a cause," he said, "a way of drawing a line a little more on the side of preserving life."(snip)

Right ::)
that is why there was a bounty of 1/2 million placed on Micheal Schiavo's head and an additional amount if the Judges were MURDERED as well
and let's see how about the 1999 TX law which is discussed in related threads
and how about Capital punishment and the fact that GW has killed more people than any other Gov in the history of the country.
and let's not forget all the thousands upon thousands of innocent people killed in his war.
Yup, they are sure preserving life really well.
Can you say HYPOCRITES.
Re: Schaivo Case prompts congressional hearings on "PersonHood" !
You seem to be confused on the standpoint of the extreme-right/conservative or "right to life" brigade. I'll make it as plainly clear as possible.
Most "right to life" individuals are FOR capital punishment. By their mindset, if someone has killed 10-20 people, and if at large will kill another 10-20 people; by eliminating this individual, they are thus saving innocent lives.
The same thing goes with the 1999 Texas law- by saving $100,000+ in ICU care for a baby that is going to die in 25-45 days, that same state medical funding can go towards actually saving several lives.

Nah Polecat, I'm not confused . I understand their position on the issues mentioned. But thankx for the explanation anyway.
I just happen to think those people are a bunch of major hypocrites.
and this is off topic but I was wondering what the last part of your siggy is supposed to mean ? Feel free to PM the reply on that question if you wish.
