My post ( here ) pretty much says everything. The only change is that I now only actually work 3 nights whilst being "on call" (in reserve, as such) for 2 nights every week.
On a nightly basis, my plan is to earn the fee/rent back. After that it is all profit however I do prefer to earn $300 or more every night.... however the main plan is that I attain $800 per week (before tax).
I break it down into how many 20 min and 10 min dances I'm required to sell before I attain that goal so that if someone books me for a half hour or longer... I'm "ahead".
;D
Thanks GCG...I did a search but the right stuff didnt come up. Thanks for the links hun. :)
You didn't offer an "all of the above" option. I plan my days, my weeks and my months, and I plan by when the shift is and what day of the week it is. Say I'm stuck working a Tuesday afternoon shift (no happy hour) I will shoot to do 10 dances on a 2-8pm shift. On a Saturday night in the middle of summer I aim for 5 dances an hour or 4 VIP shows a shift.
I have weekly and monthly dollar goals. You will see me in the club a lot in the begining of the month because if I can reach my monthly goal quickly, Then I take more time off at the end of the month (you know when all the dancers are trying to come up with their bill money and rent money etc.). I also like to reach a certain amount by the end of every week in order to hit my monthly goals. My goals change with the time of year and compared to past performance for similar weeks and days from years prior.
Unless I am seriously depressed or the day is absolute shit, I do not leave the building until I have $400. I force myself to work at least three shifts a week, and make up for it one week if I've missed it the last. Somehow this strategy works. Tax season is always tough. Lately it takes many more hours to get $400, then it does any other time of year.
I used to do it by the hour but that made me too stressed out at work so now I do it by the week and things are much better.
I agree with Paris, that an "All of the Above" should be on the list. When I find myself working in a heavy selling environment, I look at the short term, medium term, and long term results with equal importance. I set a long-term plan, figure out how I need to chunk it down, and then set smaller plans to take action on. It's the constant tweaking of the day-to-day or minute-to-minute is what makes the bigger picture materialize.
I go by the day. I don't have a lot of bills (maybe about 1100 with car, rent & utilities), but my goal is to make as much money as possible before I quit dancing. I set my goal at $350 a night - regardless of how many nights I've worked. I do try to work 15 days a month.
With this method, when it comes time for school tuition or the like, I've already got money saved up for it so I don't have to work my ass off in order to pay for it.
I usually divide my night into chucks of time and within each chunk of time, I require myself to have a certain amount of dances. This keeps me working and moving all night. I even have floormen and other club staff in on it and as soon as they see me sitting on my a$$, they ask "do you have all your dances". I reward myself with a half hour break if I get way ahead of my goal because by then I probably need one.
I actaully set my goals by the hour. I figure to sell 5 dances/backrubs an hour on the dinner shift (8-1) and 3 or 4 an hour on the earlier afternoon shifts and the later 1-3 am shift.
Checking myself hourly keeps me on my toes. It keeps me out of the dressing room and moving around so I can make sure I don't miss anything. It also motivates me to approach more people, because I want to make that extra dance before my self-imposed cutoff in 20 minures or whenever, and I don't have time to mess around. It also keeps me from procrastinating to the point where a custy will leave the club before I get off my ass to approach him.
sometimes I make lots of money off tips rather than dances, so I don't really have a dance quota.
I have a weekly amount in my head. If I reach it by 6 days, then I take the 7th day off. If I don't reach it, I work the 7th day.
Every once in awhile I'll need a few days off in a row, and I'll work longer shifts that week.
So I guess I have weekly goals so I don't beat myself up if I have a shitty night.
I cannot manage by the hour or by the day. Too many things changes.
If I am working a straight shift, no doubles, I set a target of reaching a certain target dollar amount I want to reach by the week's end. If I reach it plus or minus couple of hundred, I would consider it a success. If not, well I don't cry over it. Hope to do better next week.
The reason I do this is because you have good days and then bad days, but by the end of the week, the bad days and the good days would have averaged out.
This is what works for me. May not for you. Oh, well, my input.
I do by mine by the day, but then again I only dance 2 shifts a week average. I know my weekly goal is $400 min my savings for my BA and since I don't use any of my dancing money to pay for my bills ( i work another job) then it really pumps me up to have great night, I have a mental image of getting that closer to my boobs. Also it keeps me from wanting to go home early. My goals is usually right around $400 a night.
I also have weekly and monthly goals , however on a nightly basis, I check myself hourly. I need at min. 100 per hour but my goal I strive for is 175-200 per hour. If I have less I work harder. If I have more I work harder. If I make less than 100 per hour one night I will make myself work an extra night that week. Keeping my goals high allows me to earn more, than if i settle for less.
i go buy the shift ..
set myself a goal and push myself too make it.. the club i work in now has changed tho for the better and everyone is working as a team and we all get along great so this helps us all out 2 make more seeing as there is no bitching:P
I go by the week. I try to come up with $1000 to save up per week, the rest I can spend and stuff. I do that for three weeks and pay rent on the fourth. Since I have a lot saved up, I can pay off emergencies if they come up.
Well, I've officially been out of work @ my corporate job for a week. Working my agency job, I never made a quota for myself. It was pretty much, "hey let's see what I make so I can go buy myself something nice" I know big mistake. This will be the first night that I actually WORK for my agency. Before, I would just be there chilling, waiting on a show, then it would be time to go to my corp job, then I'd have to leave before I had any dances. Well now, that is changed.
Goals/night: Weeknight: 2 shows = $150.00
Weekend: 4 shows = $300.00
But when I dance, I usually get anywhere from a $50 - $100 (usually 100) tip.
So, I'll see how this works out for myself.
^^ Well since i'm not in that hell anylonger NEW GOALS!!
Ok, I'm writing down my goals on a per shift basis and a weekly basis.
I'm going into work tonight Monday 11/21. My goal is $300 If I make more SUPER, if not, hey I gotta make up cause for the week, my goal is $1500. So hopefully it works out for me!
Good luck with the new goals and the new situation Cinammon!!
I know you can do it. keep us posted
xoxo
I always look at my daily take/goal. But I think its better to have a weekly goal, atleast for me personally. I find if I have an off night then I sometimes let it upset me even if the other nights that week were good. So I'm trying to learn to look at the bigger picture and not get thrown by each little bump in the road ;-) Better to have the good nights and bad nights average out to a good week.

I have a " I'm not leaving until I make at least $350, but that's conservative. My weekly goal is 1250, so I can usually get away with 3 days a week, and still come out having extra money that I can save for special occasions or trips or whatever. I also don't count the money I spend on outfits and shoes which i tend to buy frequently towards the actual money I consider income. Sometimes I bust my ass for 4-5 days in one week so I can take extra time off so the normal work drama doesn't get me nutso and I don't get burned out.
I goal by day. My quota is $500 (WALK WITH) if sometimes im a little short I will keep working (double) to get it. The only exeption is on sundays,my quota is only $100.
I stay focused by keeping my eye on the ball.
I goal myself nightly. Since I moved to Rhode Island I've been working in slow crappy clubs so my goal was only $150 a night. I figured set my goal low and I wouldn't be disapointed. I switched clubs a month ago though to a busier club and I'm doing a lot better so I think I'm going to up my goal to $200 a night so that I stay motivated. I was kinda slacking after I hit the $150 mark but I think that goal is too easy to obtain at this club so now my goal is $200. On another note I'm moving to Long Island in a couple of weeks so I'll have to start all over again. If anyone has danced out there or knows anything about dancing out there I'd really appreciate a PM! Thanks!
Dammit, I missed my goal tonight. I was trying to make $300 but like around 11pm, I got this horrible migraine. I sat in the back for like an hour. Somehow I managed to get out of my slump and get back to work. After paying the DJ's I walked out with $224. Still, not bad if I do say so myself.
This is the first night ever i made less than 100 per hour, okay it had to happen right? I am sooooo less upset than i expected. It wa s a sucky slow night, i go in at 10 and leave with 280, dammit! Now im scared i will always do bad:(. Was off tomorrow but i am gonna go in early and make up for lastnight, hopefully! Even if i continue on a bad strak i am determined to make a million!!!
i goal per night- but the goal each night i work is staggered depending on the night.
wed-i expect $350
thur- i expect $350
fri-i expect $600+ ( i usually exceed this to $800 tho)
and if i come in any other nights- the money i make is a bonus-as long as i make more then a regular waged person would im happy.
i never punish myself either- im a moody stripper, and i know if im not in the mood to make money,i wont be leaving the dressing room all night unless i have to! so punishing myself for a bad attitude only makes it worse!
