I read somewhere about the S-factor - or something like that - a book about stripping?

I haven't heard of that one... I have Strip City by Lily Burana as well as Bare by Elizabeth Eaves and they are both fabulous. I have also heard of one called Ivy League Stripper, but I can't remember who its by... I'll have to look for the S Factor! Also, there is a website--gstringsforever.com (I think) that has a lot of names of dancing related books.
s-factor is a book about HOW to strip, not the stripping culture. Very handy for learning pole tricks an dsimple routines.
Ivy League Stripper is by Heidi Mattson - that's *the* book that set me and my GF on our paths to becoming dancers. We read it back when we were 16 (I say that like it was 20 years ago... :P )Quote:

i have the lily burana one (it's pretty good) and there is one more that i remember was absolutely awesome but i can't remember the title or anything so i'll have to hunt it down an post back when i find it.
There's a book called Lapdancer. I can't remember the author, but she was a photographer who stripped to support her art.
The S-Factor series of DVD's and book are instructional (i.e. how to strip.) I actually took lessons from Sheila Kelly, the author, for a while. She's a little weird, IMO. Her book is great as a handbook for tricks... but the DVD's are all geared toward ladies who want to learn to strip for fitness. In classes she used to talk about using poledancing to find her inner goddess. She also won't hire strippers in her office and said to me, "None of us would ever be strippers." She rubbed me the wrong way.
If you're looking for books about the culture of stripping, I agree with the posters above...
Lapdancer by Juliana Beasley is a photo book with short memoirs. I like it.
Strip City by Lily Burana is good.
Bare: The Naked Truth About Stripping by Elisabeth Eaves is also good but a little out of the norm, IMO. Toward the end the book the author describes some girls who are slowly slipping into prostitution.
Stripper Shoes by Cheryl Bartlett is a quick read and fun.
G-Strings and Sympathy by Katherine Frank. Read it and hated it. It's really a textbook about the psychology of s/c regulars. Too heavy for me.
If you buy or rent the Dancing at the Blue Iguana DVD, there's really good documentary on it as bonus footage... set at Crazygirls in Hollywood. I really like that.
Also check out search engines for stripper blogs. Those are always fun and very telling.
Hope this helps! :-D
I just ordered S-Factor off of amazon.com!
the book? it's a great guide for poletricks. have fun!Quote:

If your going to be starting to dance, also start reading stuff on sales. Learning how to "sell" yourself is going to be the best thing you can do. I'm sure the girls here can reccomend some great books.
