Do I HAVE to pick my own music?
Hey, this might need to be in the newbie section...
I was wondering if I am supposed to ask the DJ for specific music. I mean, do I need a list of songs for him to play, or a CD? I'm going to be starting my first job as a dancer in the next couple weeks and I feel a little anxious about the music part. I was just hoping that the DJ would be able to judge by my outfit what kind of songs to play...Or I could at least just say play me some 80's pop or something. I'm worried about creating my set music. I don't have much of a collection or a computer that can burn CD's. ARGH....I feel like hyperventilating! LOL!!:P
Re: Do I HAVE to pick my own music?
If you want to be super sure you get to dance to specific songs, ask or make a CD with yer name on it. Otherwise, any good DJ can do you right if you just tell him the type(s) of stuff you like.
Re: Do I HAVE to pick my own music?
Maybe it is just me but I always asked the new girls what type of music they listened to and if there was ANYTHING they wouldn't dance to. I also made it a point to ask if there was something they REALLY wanted to hear and if they had cds they would like played...not only did it keep them happy but it padded my pocket with more money, and isnt that the reason we all work in the biz? lol
Re: Do I HAVE to pick my own music?
Ususaly girls give me bads and some favorites...after a couple of hours of watching them and seeing what they like I just go off on my own, and ususaly with success. But there are some bone heads out there so see what your working with first.

Do you have to have a CD? Could I just give the DJ a list of songs written out? I don't have access to a CD burner, so just wondering....

It would surely help, to have a list written out in advance...it's hard to remember stuff in the heat of the moment ;-) I'd put artist & song on the list, and have enough that they'll be likely to have at least some of them.
