house fees, tip outs, "extras", and more
I did a search, and am having a hard time finding anything specific, so I'm hoping everyone will be able to help me out. :)
I just got a job working at DeJa Vu in Minneapolis, and am very naive about strip clubs. I had never even been to one until last night when I strutted in and landed a job!
He told me I could come in anyday of the week before 7 to start. I will probably be going in on Thursday.
But I'd like to clarify a few things, and make sure I have things exactly right...
House Fees- This is what you pay the club to dance there, right? Do you pay it as soon as you get there, or after your shift? If they ask for it right away I will be screwed because I am broke. Also, what if you don't make enough to cover the house fee that night? Is it usually a set amount, or a percentage?
Tip Outs- I assume this is giving a small portion of your tips to the DJ, doorman/bouncer, ect. Who do you have to tip, and generally how much?
Extras- Is this a gray area? Could an extra be as simple as them touching your breasts, or as extreme as giving them a blow job? Are extra's what happen in the VIP rooms? I assume these are what the dancers charge "extra" for, and she gets to decide her own rates (and, obviously wether or not she will do them)?
Also, my club has Fantasy Booths. What are these?
The club has 3 floors. On the first 2 floors the dances are $20. On the 3rd floor (wich is not open everyday of the week and I did NOT get a tour of) the dances are $30. I asked what the difference in the dances were, and the manager said nothing. So why the price increase?
When I give lap dances, does the money go to me or the club? Does he pay me before, or after? How is the whole money issue brought up?
So, if the 1st and 2nd floor dances are $20, and 3rd floor $30, I assume my goal is to :
A) get the men to buy multiple dances on the 1st/2nd floor
B) convince the men to buy a $30 dance and come up to the 3rd floor with me, but why would they do that if the dance is exactly the same? Would the 3rd floor be more "intimate", then?
c) make good use of these Fantasy Booths, whatever they are, because they sound a little more "special" therfore more expensive then a regular lap dance
D) do all of the above so I can profit the most!
Looks like I have my work cut out! I am so looking forward to trying different techniques! I did not expect this to be so exhilirating, and I'm not even dancing yet! Just planning and learning!
If anyone can offer advice, explanations, that would be great.

oh, I totally want to know this stuff too *holds hand to ear....
Re: house fees, tip outs, "extras", and more
House fee and tip out can often mean the same thing. Some clubs ONLY ask for the house fee. The flat rate to the club to work there. Some clubs also ask you to tip specific people... DJ's, bartenders, etc... each club is different on this. Hell, I've worked in clubs where there was no flat fee, just tipping a % to several staff members. I'd suggest calling ahead and asking. Most clubs that I've experienced ask for it after your shift, or near the end.
Some clubs will tell you that you are not allowed to tip bar staff. Some want you too. I usually tip $2 per drink if I order for myself. I dont order much on my own. Getting a drink from a customer is plus, but there are some laws in some areas that make it illegal to outright ask for a drink from a customer. Find out! I tip the DJ anywhere from $5 to $20 depending on how I did during my shift and how well he helped me out on the music. When I used to have to tip other staff, such as managers, I tipped $5 to $10 usually. Some clubs have a set amount or %. Cant hurt to ask.
Extras is such a huge and grey area. I personally avoid them at all costs. Seriously. Some towns/states/individual clubs are so picky about it. Some dont care at all. Each girl honestly takes a risk when they do extras. Who knows when an undercover cop will show up? Who knows what a customer has or has on them? Who knows if they're some sort of nutjob stalker? I cant tell you to not do extras... but I can tell you what sort of risks MAY be out there. I dont know yer area. I dont know yer club. It's all up to you. Some girls just let guys touch their breasts. Some go further. Some girls (at topless bars) show more than they should. There are so many kinds of extras. Are you willing to do them and are you sure about how, why, and what might happen because of it.
Lapdances are done differently at each club, just like pay outs. Some clubs take half. Some take less, some take more. Mine takes none. Depends on the place. You really should demand to know the facts before you start. Yolu dont wanna stumble around and get jipped or accidentally jip a customer.
The rest of the things youre asking about arent things Ive had to do in the clubs Ive worked in. Good luck though!

That depends on your club. Considering it's your first night, they will probably waive it or let you pay it later. If you don't make enough to cover your house, some clubs will waive it if it was an overall slow night for everyone; others will put it on your tab, to be paid the next time you work.

You are correct. Again, what and who you tip out depends on your club.

No. It's pretty straightforward. Extras are things you aren't supposed to do in the club, but that some girls will for extra money or to make a sale.

I don't know. It depends on your club. Jeez, didn't they tell you anything? A lot of the questions you asked are about policies that vary from club to club, as to whether you get paid up front or after your dances, etc. As you're at a Deja Vu, they will be taking a cut of each dance, either by getting paid by the customer before the dance or by counting your dances and collecting from you afterwards. I am very happy I don't work in Minneapolis; from what I hear you are going to be turning over a significant portion of your nightly earnings to the club.

lovespell...you couldnt put it any better..i'm on a need to know basis also.

Thanks for all of the replies. No, they really didn't tell me much at all. I have a feeling that when I go in for my first shift, he will go over these things with me. Or if my manager doesn't, I will be sure to demand to know everything, because I don't want to get ripped off, or rip any customers off.
Extra's are something I am going to avoid, no doubt, but I just wanted to make sure I fully understood the concept.
So Minneapolis is bad for that? That sucks. I wonder how much they will end up taking. :-\
Re: house fees, tip outs, "extras", and more
Lovespell, you're going to *have* to update us after your first night!!! LOL!
I'll be so curious as to what your thoughts are after your first shift!
Re: house fees, tip outs, "extras", and more
I'm sure they'll let you know exactly how much they expect to get! Good luck, and let us know how it works out for you.
Don't worry too much about the fees being high; what matters ultimately is what you go home with, and I'm sure we would all rather go home with $400 having paid out $120 than $100 having paid out $20.
