Damn.. LOL
I think the ultimate goal of the Women's Movement has finally been achieved; true equality has been realized :P
uhm... gee. lol. That has to be the weirdest thing ever. Either he must be gay or she must be really unattractive.

At any rate, uncool.
I'm definitely very curious, and I'm proud that the guy was able to stand up. I don't know how lawsuit happy people in Norway are, but if this truly did occur as rape, then imagine how much mental anguish this guy has to go through in order to make it public. It's hard enough being a woman and seeing a case through, although I wonder if they'd pull up psychological history on a man like they do here in the US (which often ends up having the victim pull out rather than be "raped" again in court by having her privacy further revoked.)
Having been sexually harrassed (haven't all women to some degree..and I'm not talking about in terms of the job-- I just take that as in the job description as long as it's not repeated touching or rape) I had a hard time sleeping for days afterward; likewise, my faith in human goodness was definitely smudged for a time.
It is too easy to turn such a seemingly novel act into something to laugh about, but rape or forced sexual attention is a damaging thing-- whatever gender or sexual orientation.
Okay.....no one else is...so I'll bring it up. Because...that's what I do.
There is a fundamental difference. In our societies, men are often in a position of power. Rape is repulsive and should be prosecuted to the highest degree. It is horribly invasive and is done to beat a woman down and get the guy's jollies off with a feeling of forced power. (I'm speaking in a typical sense here, of course.)
I don't see that being the case here. Hell.....I wish I could wake up from a nice slumber this way.
Dude - it's a non-consensual sexual act involving penetration - what is rape? Penetration with bruises left behind?Quote:

I actually give the guy credit for having the cohones to report the incident and press charges. Most men wouldn't do it, and don't. That's why things like this are unbelievable to some. Men are supposed to be "the stronger sex" (I know, I know), and unable to be overpowered by a woman. So a lot of men go without saying something when it happens, for fear that they will look like less of a man.
Not only do rapes of men by females go on everyday, but so does abuse (spousal and otherwise). Men rarely speak up. If the police are called, they're afraid that they would take one look at the guy, and say "Oh, this little thing hurt you? Poor baby!", If anything was said at all.
So, I'm glad she was convicted. She should be punished.
These are the sentiments of a straight man?!? Oh Please! I don't know very many men who would turn down a knobber from ANY woman even if she was sasquatch herself...crushed his faith in people my big toe:'(Quote:
The man said the incident left him with insomnia and virtually no interest in sex. He also described it as a breach of trust between friends that crushed his faith in people.
I'm bettin if it was the Bf who was suckin on the ole heat seekin moisture missle there would have been no complaints........
The female professor of my "Psychology of Women" class was adament that only men commit domestic abuse. Having served in the military before attending college and experiencing first-hand the home conditions of some of my fellow married soldiers, I knew that wasn't true. With a little bit of quick research, I found a number of research papers that proved it. Next class, she continued to state that only men commit domestic abuse and I called her on it. We argued (not debated, as she wasn't very civil about it) and I presented the research findings. Oh, and I accidently hit the wrong number on the photocopy machine so instead of one copy, I made twenty-three of each research paper ... so everyone in class could have a copy set. ;) Things went down hill from there. She told me that I shouldn't even be in the class since it was for women and I countered that the class title was "Psychology of Women" and not "Psychology for Women" or "Feminist Propaganda" nor was there any gender restriction. At that point, she threatened me with a "F" if I didn't stop objecting to her feminist statements. At that point, I just got up, walked to the psychology department, and asked for an appointment with the department chair. In the end, I got the department to do a review of her lecture notes and reading material. She was forced to do major revisions and, even harsher, her tenure track was essentially reset. The class was also moved to an observation classroom from that point forward and, from what I hear, it is still assigned to such classrooms. An observation classroom has a room in the rear that has a one-way glass and separate entry so observers can enter and exit to observe a class without the class or professor knowing they're being observed.Quote:

The studies though found that if anything, women commit more domestic abuse than men since they know they can get away with it. That and women are more likely to use a weapon (done to wanting to "even the odds") thus more brutal and even lethal abuse are done. And they can get away with it because they know there's a very heavy social stigma about that. One study speculated that possibly the vast majority of "home accidents" reported by injuried men in emergency rooms were actually the result of domestic abuse. At the time I looked into it (late 80s), there were no shelters for abused men to go to. There were no hotlines for them to call. If they called a domestic abuse hotline and said they've been abused by their wife, the operators would hang up on them. They got nothing. And from what I've hear, that's still the case today. Sad. Very sad. :(
As a rape victim myself, I can honestly say that GENDER should never play a determining part in whether or not it is "acceptible" (I use that word LOOOSELY) What I mean is, whether I was raped by a man or woman, I was still RAPED. Whether or not I am a man who was raped by a man or a woman, I was still RAPED.
I think that it's high time we re-examine our social definitions of rape, and that more abused PEOPLE come forward. Rape is not funny, it's not a joke and 8 years later I still cry about what happened to me. So for those of you who think it's hilarious...imagine that you had to carry a burden like being raped...
^ that's horrible Heaven. I don't think anyone is going to debate with you the fact that rape is probably the worst act one human can do to another.
but I think your situation is light years of a difference from this situation (I'm assuming here). It's one thing to be physically forced to have sex and completely another to be awakened be someone performing oral sex on you. I guess I lack the perspective here.
It's not overtly funny, but traumatic? I think that's a bit of a stretch. but that's just me. It's definitely a unique situation.

Couldn't find any news stories that bridged this gap.
I'm sure if there was any physical assault (besides sexual) involved they would mention that.
All it says is:
so, if this is the full story then she gave him oral sex while sleeping and he woke up.... traumatic indeed ::)Quote:
In court, he testified that he woke up because the woman was performing oral sex on him
but you're right. I'm sure there is much more to the story.
If this is for real, then that guy is a f*cking wuss!!! I'm sorry, but men think of sex differently than women do.That guy should have thought,"Damn,I'm getting laid.Right on!!!"
I carry the burden daily....and it's been 16 almost 17 yrs now. I choose to not let it tear me apart inside, even tho I was raped by a man but I find humour in strange places and to me his protests were funny.Quote:

Men feel pressure to believe and do certain things or they will be named "wusses". And women feel as if they can't be sexual because they will be considered "sluts". I really don't care about either. I base my opinions on reason, not what society thinks I should believe. And if that guy didn't want to have sex with her, he didn't want to, and it was rape. And I really don't care if some of you think he's a wuss. Liberate yourselves from stereotypes.
If men didn't talk so much sh*t about how macho they were and the mentality of "my dad can beat up your dad" didn't exist, there wouldn't such gender biasedness. My argument is;if you're so macho, stuff like that shouldn't happen to you. This is the age old mentality of American men. Most men,at least.
Yea, but why reinforce it? Double standards and physical violence are unnecessary and stupid. There are more important things to worry about than one's own ego... such as improving society for future generations. In the grand scheme of things, who gives a shit whose dad beat up who? People can be so shallow and ego- oriented. And it is forced upon those who don't want it or need it, ones who are above and beyond that. That's why I would never send my child through a public school system.Quote:

I've been raped too, but it was by my bf, so it didn't have the ramifications of actual rape by a stranger, although it was def no picnic in the park. It does steal a part of you that you must fight to get back.
