Re: Researching Portland, OR
Hey there, well, i live in the Portland, OR area and am also new to the sceen. My boyfriend and I went in to the Dolphin in Milwaukie, OR a few days ago mainly because he thought i was too chicken to even go to a club, comming form a guy who is too chicken to have sex wit hme in school, I know i don't have the best body, but I'm not afraid of showing it, and he knows that!!!
Well, anyways, at the Dolphin, I applied for a poistion as a waitress, the bartender came back to me later and told me that they were no hiring for that, but I could audition as an entertainer if i would like. i couldn't do it that day cuz I had just gotten waxed a few hours earlier, and the girl who did it really sucked, so I was still all hairy and crap!! Anyways, if you want, I'm pretty new to the Portland area, and really want to dance too, I don't really have any friends here and my boyfriend rarely even calls me to hang out, so if you want, maybe we could go check out the clubs some time, it would be great to have some extra support!!
Anyways, if you want, just reply back or send me a message. Oh, and where are you getting the pictures taken at???
Re: Researching Portland, OR
The clubs are starting to pick up.. There are alot of clubs in portland, some girls make alot of money and some don't make any.. I'm thinking about starting school here in the next 6months, i work day shift at my club (cabaret) and could pay for school by doin it.. Just hangout in the clubs that you wanna work in.. get a feel for them watch the girls, talk to a few of them.
Re: Researching Portland, OR
There are soooooo many clubs in Portland....and the one you decide to work at will depend on a couple different factors...
#1. What do you look like: are you tattooed or are you a barbie doll?
#2. Do you wanna hustle or not?
#3. Do you wanna work for a booking agent or not?
#4. What kind of clientle and club enviroment are you most comfortable with and in?
#5. How much money do you expect to make?
Once you have answered those questions you can narrow the search down quite a bit....heres a quick summary...
Sassys and 205 can be great money IF you have the looks to get the good shifts (although it seems like they are not as picky these days)....they are booked through Rockstar Promotions who are a great big pain in the ass (I worked for them for awhile) as long as you realize you can NEVER call out without being "fired" for atleast a week go for it....
For more alternative clubs try Magic Gardens, Marys Club, Acropolis, and Union Jacks...I have heard there is big money to made at all 4, I only know from experience at 3...
Dolphin, Exotica...hmmmm....seems like I have heard mixed reviews...whole lot of hustle going on...
stay far away from Safari...
505 Club is supposedly good on weekend nights...$400?
Anyhow thats a quickie...good luck ;D

Really? What's up? I worked a couple of times there this past summer and it seemed nice enough.
Re: Researching Portland, OR
I have not worked there personally but many of my friends and fellow dancers have.....
In the beginning it seemed to be a lucrative place to work but in the last year ALL comments have been extremely negative...I dont even hear girls even consider it as an option anymore...
From what I have been told the money isnt easy to come by....the atmosphere is nothing but ghetto, posturing young boys trying to play like they have money but DONT.... and I havent heard one good thing about the girls or the relations between the girls...
so on that note when I am told the same thing over and over I tend to stay away....
:)
Re: Researching Portland, OR
Didn't Magic Gardens just have a fire? I'm curious if anyone's heard anything about Lush. It sounds like a cool club. I've been out of the loop for a little while now.
Re: Researching Portland, OR
Ya, Lush is brand new and I've heard nothing about it. I'm really curious because supposedly it has a non-smoking level.
Shesupsidedown gave some good tips. Because there are diff. types of clubs here. The large, hustle clubs and the smaller, more alternative ones. Have you checked any out yet?
Re: Researching Portland, OR
I havent heard anything about Lush from a dancers perspective...I have had customers that have gone as well as my yoga instructor...haha....I hear the girls are very beautiful or plastic depending on what youre into and the enviroment can be a bit overbearing with huge monsters of bouncers walking around and checking up on everything....
Magic Gardens did have a fire but nothing significant....karma catching up to Pattys ass...whoops did I say that outloud?
hahahaha.....

I've been to Lush a few times (as a customer). The girls are pretty but not (all) beautiful. You're right about the bouncers. They have private alcoves for rooms where you close a curtain, but the bouncer stands right outside and seems to keep an eye on things (or so it seems from the outside). I didn't really see a lot of private dances going on when I was there. My overall impression is that they're going for an upscale feel, with low contact, trying to appeal to businessmen who stay in the downtown hotels. Seems like someplace where an attractive, "clean" dancer could do well, but that's just my impression.
Holiday - they do have a no smoking area with a stage. It's downstairs, and I think it's only open on weekends.
