When Pearl Jam Ruled the Earth
Times flies, doesn't it? I dug out a copy of "Ten" and felt the memories come back. I wasn't really a big fan, but was glad of Pearl Jam's influence and effect on music and culture- it was reminicent of U2.
Any former or current Pearl Jam fans on SW? I know they still tour and put out live CDs, like the Dave Matthews Band.
Re: When Pearl Jam Ruled the Earth
I loved Pearl Jam. I was about 4 when they ruled. But, later on I really got to like them.
I like DMB too.
Re: When Pearl Jam Ruled the Earth
Those were some days....Clinton Administration, US military intervention for peacekeeping purposes, rock and roll was LOUD........
Eddie Vedder was memorably outspoken for women's reproductive rights, was with a steady girlfriend, and could SING.
Adam Sandler did an "Opera Man" skit on "SNL" where he claimed Vedder looked SO good, he made him question his heterosexuality (Hahahahahahaha.)
Oh Pearl Jam, where art thou?
Re: When Pearl Jam Ruled the Earth
I dig Pearl Jam!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Long Live Eddie Vedder!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: When Pearl Jam Ruled the Earth
Ha - i remember those days - i was 18 when they toured here for VS. Amazing concert, we lined up all day, it rained and there was mud.. and then Eddie sung black... fond memories!
Re: When Pearl Jam Ruled the Earth
I remember when they wouldnt do a show because of ticket prices set too high that was great . In the back of my head I always thought Eddie would off himself it never happend I am glad to say .
Re: When Pearl Jam Ruled the Earth
PJ songs have soooo many memories for me from high school, early nineties, when they reigned.
I remember driving on the beach in Galveston in the open back of a Bronco II listening to Rearviewmirror, off of VS. The driver was a drummer so he had sticks in his hand jamming instead of steering. The rest of us played air guitar or passed the joint or swigged from our 40 oz........yup, lots of memories.
This calls for a grunge revival set at work on Monday!!! ;)

You rang???
PJ has been, and may very well continue to be my favorite band. I have all their albums, many live cds and have seen them in concert...
Hi, my name is A_guy, and I'm a grunge addict.
Re: When Pearl Jam Ruled the Earth
Oh my, was I ever into Pearl jam. I was 12, all ratted out & grungy, and loved them all but had a particular crush on Stone Gossard (for whatever reason). I was gonna marry him!
Circus magazine cutouts all over the wall....ahh. :)
I liked Vs enough, but (I'm serious here) had a really bad acid trip listening to it on repeat, and can't really stomach it anymore. I kind of lost interest after that :(
They're fantastic though, for lots of reasons. I play Black every once in awhile on stage, but it's a lazy-afternoon-when-the-club's-dead kind of tune, not really a $$maker!
Re: When Pearl Jam Ruled the Earth
Pearl Jam sucks, I'm so glad they faded away to nothing. They led the way for hundreds of untalented bands to ruin music in the 90's.
Re: When Pearl Jam Ruled the Earth
actually i miss them so much i did a routine to "jeremy" on monday.
*dreamy look* i miss the clinton administration too maxine....*sigh*...oh well, all things come to an end.
Re: When Pearl Jam Ruled the Earth
"ten" came out my freshman year in college. As did Nirvana. Made for some very sweaty and fun parties with some major mosh pits.
Re: When Pearl Jam Ruled the Earth
Love love love PJ. Only saw them live once, at Alpine Valley in Wisconsin in November, and it was fucking cooooold, and they changed the lyrics in every other song to "Can you believe we're standing in the freezing raa-aa-iiinnnnnn....." and such nonsense. It was great.
I campaigned for Nader in 2000 and Eddie did an acoustic set during a rally. Michael Moore opened, Nader spoke, and Eddie played and sang. I was in heaven.
Re: When Pearl Jam Ruled the Earth
'Evenflow' always seems to get a good customer response.
Re: When Pearl Jam Ruled the Earth
And speaking of 90's bands that were amazing, does anyone ever dance to smashing pumpkins?
Re: When Pearl Jam Ruled the Earth
I did a set to Soungarden "Outshined" and "Rearview Mirror" the other day. The DJ had to get the CD's out, no one even asks for them anymore to be put into the mp3 player. It was a grea t set!
Re: When Pearl Jam Ruled the Earth
A couple of weekends ago a dancer did a set to the pixies, that was nice
