Tips on working with a waitress or other staff to improve your hustle
Just reading over some other threads and I noticed some suggestions which involved working with a waitress or some other staff member.
Thought it might be cool to consolidate some tips in one place.
I'll list a few basic ones.....but please feel free to share any tips you have!
-------------------------------------------------------------
I think most would agree that it's generally a good idea to have allies; people who can help you out or watch your back. One of the best ideas for a dancer is to establish a good relationship with a waitress, bartender, or some other club staff to help her spot opportunies and improve her hustle. Btw - it goes without saying that any help provided should be properlly rewarded for good service!
Tips on how a waitress can help you hustle.....
- Be a spotter. A waitress can help point out who big spenders are. When they make change or take payment for drinks they usually get to see what kind of bank roll a customer has, and if he tips the waitress well, it prolly a good sign he'll tip a dancer well too! She can help point out good customers to you. (One time a professional basketball player came into the club. No one really recognized him, he came in alone and wasn't overly flashy. The waitress was the first to know who he was because she saw his name on the CC he used to pay for his drink and make change. With that she came over and told a dancer I know who he was, so she was the first to be able to approach him. She also got the benefit of "recognizing" him and playing like she was a big fan! heh.)
- Timing. So many guys come in and get approached too quickly. Building on the above, not only can she see if he's a potential spender, but she can let you know he's been served his drink!
- Suggest you to customers. Often times the waitress is the first person a customer wants to see when he walks into a SC. If he should ask the waitress for a suggestion on a dancer, wouldn't it be cool that she recommend you?
- Build enthusiasm for you. How about when your on stage? Well a waitress can cheer or applaud you. If a she's serving a drink to someone she can point out how cool that girl on stage is. ;)
- Help get tips started. If your on set and no one is really tipping the stage, she may be able to help get things started by coming up to tip you. Make a little show of it! (Of course club rules may vary) You can even give her a few dollars at the beginning of the night to tip you with should the need arise.
- Help to motivate a customer along. A dancer I know uses a waitress to help her get customer to move towards getting a dance. If she's been with a customer for a few minutes, and thinks he'll get a dance, but just needs that little push, she'll call over her waitress and order a drink for herself (Usually it's just a soda which is only $1 for the dancer to buy for herself, it costs a custy $5. She doesn't ask for the custy to pay for it, but if he offers that's cool too.) When she orders a specific drink it's a signal. When the waitress returns she delivers a message that another custy has asked for her, then she leans in and pretends to whisper about which custy asked for her. With that the dancer can turn to the guy she's with and use any number of lines....."Oh, help me to avoid this one" .... "So, how about we go out back to the dance area so I won't have to leave"...etc.
- Help to move another dancer along!....Here's one Kat posted in another thread!

Re: Tips on working with a waitress or other staff to improve your hustle
Very good V.
Its almost the same at my club except where the waitress is in your equation the spotter fills in instead. They watch and count our dances. Im new so they dont treat me as well and I suspect they have been over counting my dances.
So, to get them on my side Ive decided to tip them early and enough so that they turn their heads to a few of my dances. For the DJ I tell him Im going to be with a guy for awhile and to skip me on stage at least twice through the night. Thats all I know for now...my club is playing f-ing games with me. Frusterated: I just want to work and tip well so that they dont screw me. It seems like screw me 1st and tip 2nd???

i do work with this one waitress at the club, and believe me she really helps me out! a few bucks to a few people to help you out or recommend you really goes a long way.
Re: Tips on working with a waitress or other staff to improve your hustle
I used to do that a lot back up north with the bartenders. The bar wrapped around the stage so the suggestions of the bartender helped!
These days I dont seem to get as good a reception on this subject from bar staff. It would help a lot too, especially with trying to sell drinks. Our county doesnt allow us to ask a customer to buy us a drink so... Egads.

I recommend BOUNCERS and DOORMEN. They are the lowest paid employees and their job is to watch the crowd. That's all they do: watch the crowd. Give them a cut and they will help you out.
Waitresses and bartenders get very busy and distracted.

My bouncer is working tonight. I am going to try some of these!

I use this with my waitress partner, its a gem! There is always some guy waiting in VIP for me. If the custy says, "its ok, go to him and make some money" I tell him that man comes in everyday for me, and I would rather have YOU as my priority, hehehe, giggle, giggle. That makes them feel special.
Also, sometimes the waitresses get too pushy about money men. Don't let them bully you into sitting with their customers if you are already making money elsewhere. You can't be guaranteed that he will like you. Meanwhile, you lose out on what you already earn.
If you don't make it to waiting custy, recommend another girl and give him your schedule or contact info.....I promise he'll come back and spend on you for being both a good sport AND in-demand.
Always appear in-demand if possible!

In addition to a few bucks, don't ever underestimate the power of just being nice to people. Let's face it, a lot of dancers don't treat the waitresses and other employees very nicely.
Re: Tips on working with a waitress or other staff to improve your hustle
I adore most of my bartenders and waitresses. We have a woman that works at one of my clubs whom I have known for a few years now. I move back and forth between that club and it's sister club. Whenever I come back to hers she always has a hug for me and a "I'm so glad you are back." She tells me I am one of the nicest dancers she knows and I love her for it. She brightens my night because of her energy and I try to get all my drinks and custies drinks from her. A few times she's had a bad night and I given her a twenty or two, if I can afford it, I think it's worth it.
She's told me about certain customers that have asked her about me or who she thinks is the best.
I try to treat the staff the way I would want to be treated was I one of them. As long as I don't get told that I don't "tip" enough (it's not mandatory), I will gladly help them out. Whenever I find money on the floor I hand it over to a server, I've actually found a few of the server's money clips a few times and saved them from a bad night.
Re: Tips on working with a waitress or other staff to improve your hustle
Well most of our waitresses have the IQ of a simian. Its great when you find one who is actually business saavy and isn't a wannabe stripper who is just too fat to actually dance.
My russian waitress partner SHOULD dance but she won't do it. She would be balling out of control if she did too!
Re: Tips on working with a waitress or other staff to improve your hustle
My waitress actually did besome a dancer at one point, and yes, I hate the ones that beceom dancers also, only because the majority seem to think it's okay to do extras because they used to be a server, I don't get it either. They seem to become the skanky ones in a just a few days, it kills me because I try to teach them dance tricks and hustling moves, but they just want to do whatever will make them the most money (which is offering extras.) I feel foolish for trying to teach them and then I also come across as easy becaue I'm their "friend."
In any case this woman ( the one I love) quit dancing because of the fact that she had to lose a lot of weight (which she did,) but she didn't feel comfortable at that weight, this I respect.
Re: Tips on working with a waitress or other staff to improve your hustle
Let me also note that not EVERY server that becomes a dancer acts any differently than the way they did as a server. I know a few that have become terrific dancers and remained great people without resorting to selling themselves short.
I just don't want to seem like I am generalizing in any way to those dancers that were servers before and dancers after.
