Ready or not? Here I... run away! (long)
Hey lovelies! :3
Anyway I'm finally ready to do my first audition at Ecstacy in Santa Ana and the only thing holding me back is someone to come with me.
The reason I'm nervous is because I heard twice that this place was mean to new girls! :(
Does anybody know if it's really true that they hate new girls or is it just a higher-end club that prefers experienced dancers?
I get my first paycheck in a week from my new part-time job (and my CA license tomorrow!) so I can afford the gowns for the club (already know a place that sells it)... and recently my now ex-husband agreed to buy me a car to travel to work (in return for not telling the military about the reason we're divorcing).
So I have everything I need including weeks of practice on my shoes! :D I think I'm doing well. I have the S-Factor and know all the non-pole moves by heart.
I even have two great songs I want to use (both in English by a Japanese singer, so the songs would be new to the club most likely). One starts out, "I was dancing with a dirty blonde texan, charming accent but the music's playing too loud for talking, so I showed him how the people in the far east get down."
The other one starts out, "She rises with the sunset, she wonders when will this end.. the world is full of money fully of money.. she goes out unproctected, she doesn't listen to her best friend... it's only for the money, for the money. She doesn't want to be respected, reality is her best friend... she needs the extra money, extra money."... I'm thinking this one might be a little to, "Aww, poor stripper" instead of a little sexy slutty like the way it sounds played.
-------
Anyway.... I think I have everything except the gown (which I get in a week with my new paycheck from my other job - which will work around my stripper hours!) for this job... but I heard you don't need a gown to actually get a gown job. I'm afraid of spending $60-100 on a gown and getting rejected (even if I already spent $50 on the shoes).
.... do you think I'm ready to audition or errrmmm, anything? Any last-minute advice? Any last-minute ideas? Anybody want to come with me? :)
My life is really turning around right now (after this divorce) and I really want to do something that will help me along (and pay for my college while I'm there!) and identify the person I lost in my marriage.
.... I talk too much. I don't even know my specific question anymore, hahaha.
Am I ready? :O ::) ;D ;)

RELAX!!! Smile ... don't look down ... you will be fine Hun!!!
You will ALWAYS hear bad words about ANY club - if you go in thinking the girls are mean, then they will be mean. Just keep to yourself till they get to know you and they will eventually warm up.
Good luck! :)

i'd say don't play the music. You wanna play something in the TOp 40's why alienate anyone just because th ey don't like your music?
BTW a common newbie mistake is thinking that she should pick music that she really likes....A good entertainer will always go with the crowds choice in music.
After you've gotten settled in at the club play some of your prefered tunes, but I'd wait a while to do it....
Good Luck

Oh my gawd!!! I love Hikaru Utada too! I thought I was the only one. My club won;t let me play her though.

Agreed about the music.
Always play music that gets the crowd going. A happy crowd means more stage tips and more private dances. ;)

Check out my thread about my first day...http://www.stripperweb.com/forum/showthread.php?t=49346
You might have already read it...
I agree with trying to play the crowd music wise, remember if they're happy they're tipping!
Also, arrive with your hair and makeup on-less time to spend freaking out in the dressing room and a good way to avoid the other girls.

I know how to do my makeup well with MAC, so YAAY there.
I'll take all the advice about the music, too.

The first time auditining is a lot like the first time you go off the high dive. Don't think about it too much just go do it. If you think about it too much you will drive yourself nuts.
Good job with the S-Factor. That is a great starting tool, especially if you want to dance in a gown club. You won't be spending much time on stage in a gown club anyway, so the moves in that book are good to know.
So march right into that club and tell them you would like to audition. Also be honest about having never danced before. They will be able to tell anyway, and the manager may be a little more helpful if he knows that you know nothing about the business.
