Read this if you use a Dell and your privacy is important
Fella working on his Dell notebook discovers secreted hardware based keyboard logger built into his notebook.
Homeland Security knows about it and ain't saying shit about it.
This means, if you use encryption and passwords to protect various information, the goods are tucked away on a little chip in your keyboard. Especially if you use a Dell.
You can replace your Dell here:
(No, I haven't opened mine up - but I have half a mind to do so.)

Please...talk about X-Files-type paranoia.
The DHS doesn't need to put a keylogger on your system; if they're looking for you, NSA can just use Echelon systems (under Canadian or British auspices) if they wanted to tap into the systems of citizens.

Or that big satellite I saw in Enemy Of The State with Will Smith!
Echelon doesn't do shit for encrypted comm except traffic analysis. Having a keyboard logger with 2,000,000 keystrokes in it can be a lot more handy.
Hopefully, from the URL, it's a joke. But - ya never know....

If someone is that desperate to look at my stuff, let them have it. They're probably bored by now anyone and have gone on to looking at someone else's stuff.

Perhaps all that noise at night is the Dell people trying to come in to get their stolen laptop.

Have heard weird stulff about Dell b/4, which is why I've always shied away from getting one, even tho they seem to be reasonbly priced.
Btw, last nite I watched Penn & Teller show, "Bullshit" they talked about this type of thing. Personal privacy, etc.
