Re: Music for Glamour Girls
This is a great two song set that I do for one of the girls at my club. Peggy Lee "You Give me Fever", and Hanky Panky by Madona. If I can think of others I will post again
Re: Music for Glamour Girls
Colleen, you're thinking of Joss Stone, who's actually an 18-year old British gal, who's got a really soulful voice. She's released a couple of albums in the last two years, and her current single is "Dont'cha Wanna Ride", which is probably a little faster than you're looking for.
I once had a fave who did a glamour-type routine to "Sweet Thing" (the cover version by Mary J. Blige of the Chaka Khan original). Very sexy! Along the same lines I'd vote for "Ascension (Don't Ever Wonder)" by Maxwell...extremely soulful.
Re: Music for Glamour Girls
Vogue - Madonna
Luxurious - Gwen Stefani
70's love groove - Janet Jackson
Mea culpa - enigma
Sweet Dreams - the Eurythmics (or any cover)
Unbreak my heart - Toni Braxton
Spirit in the Sky - Doctor and the Medics
Re: Music for Glamour Girls
Madame Hollywood! by Felix da Housecat and Miss Kittin
Everybody wants to be Hollywood
The fame, the glamour, the glitz, the story
One day i'll be a great star
you know, like the big dipper
and maybe one day you can visit me
in my condo on a big hill you know like...
9 0 2 1 0
Play it! And think of $aph! ;) (obviously one of my trademark songs!)
oh yeah, the "ursula 1000" mix was my favorite...followed by the original.
p.s. the boys always loved it. <3
Re: Music for Glamour Girls
Ah, one of electroclash's finest, imo. In case you can't tell, I'm having a wine induced nostalgic moment here...
"Everybody wants to be hollywood
The fame, the vanity, the glitz, the stories
One day I'll become a great big star
You know like the big dipper
And maybe one day you can visit my condo
On the big hill you know like 9-0-2-1-0
Just imagine my face in the magazine
People analyzing my look, my body or
Any plastic surgery.
You know like the big dipper
And maybe one day you can shake
My hand on the planet Hollywood
You say I'm not underground
I'm rich, I'm famous, I vanish, I'm glitz
I am the story, I am the star
You know like the big dipper
Sex, Drugs & Rock n Roll
It's Over
It's OVER
I decide it's over
Everybody wants to be hollywood
And maybe one day you can visit my condo
On the big hill you know like 9-0-2-1-0
Oh Yeah
I'ts good stripper shit I tell ya! Anybody tell me I'm wrong, I dare ya! :P

Ok, my wardrobe is a little limited right now.
- I have a blue velvet floor-length gown to which I can add a boa.
- A silver-and-black robe-type gown that ties in the middle and is sort of floaty. Tha one had to be worn witha push-up bra or it looks silly. I was thinkingn of pairing it with a thong and fishnets
- White corset with fuzzy skirt, gives a look similar to the white one Demi Moore had in Striptease wehn she was dancing for Burt Reynolds on his boat
- Black goth-ish looking corset thing with floaty short-ish train
- Gold silk gown
- possibly a silver halter dress with a full skirt (got at a garage sale for a dollar, going to try it on again tomorrow)
They are now 2-song sets. (2 minutes, 25 seconds per song) I think I would liek to start slow and then get faster, since I woudl be losiong the dress or part of it on the second song.

Yes, Paige....it is. An 80's version, and it was actually a great remake. Don't know about stripping to it though.
Re: Music for Glamour Girls
The sound track from the movie Mr. and Mrs. Smith is really good. I've been dancing to it lately. One of my favorites is Lay Baby Lay. I think you'd like it.
Re: Music for Glamour Girls
The average strip club custie might be too dull to appreciate it, but there a few Bryan Ferry & Roxy Music songs that would go well with a glam presentation. "Dance Away", "Rain Rain Rain", "Slave to Love" etc......
For what it's worth, a couple customers looked impressed when I played Roxy's "Love is the Drug." They're not all brain dead.
Re: Music for Glamour Girls
Oh, I used to dance to Roxy Music all the time! Yes, very smooth and sexy stuff.
Hmm. Maybe try to track down "You're So Pretty--We're So Pretty" and "Love is the Key" by the Charlatans UK. Also "History Repeating" by Propellerheads and Shirley Bassey.
I think 70s soul/funk works well with gowns--you usually have a sultry beat to work with. Try some Isley Brothers or Ojays.
Re: Music for Glamour Girls
I love the new Moby "Look at us, we're beautiful . . . . . "
Susan's post about the Roxy osng made me think of it. Do you think that will work for me?
Now that I am tryijng to actaully do the galmour thing on stage (it was a lot easier in the last club, with no stage) I am really really really having second thoughts. Maybe I will go dig out my biker slut outfit again!
Re: Music for Glamour Girls
Do a little bit of everything. You are an entertainer, after all.
Glam on stage can work if you can lavish attention on customers at the rail, seeing as it is a slower pace than other styles of stage show. People do appreciate the effort too. Don't give up!
You know, I think Billie Holiday songs would be a good way to start and end nights....if the DJ is game...jazz-bar glam....
Re: Music for Glamour Girls

I love the guitar in the start! You will get lots of toe tapping, finger snapping, guys smiling and doing their best air guitar.
We are there to have fun after all. Dancers put WAYYYYYYYYYYYY more emphasis on the songs lyrics and meaning. Guys just want music that sounds good and sexy, attractive women moivng rythmically to this music while unself consciously naked.
Have fun with it. How about those little angel wings you can get at the costume shop.
Re: Music for Glamour Girls
Let's not forget Glamorous Life by Sheila E. HAHA I still like to dance to that once in a while ;D
Re: Music for Glamour Girls
Marilyn Monroe?
Diamonds are a girls best friend
Gentlemen prefer blondes
Re: Music for Glamour Girls
What about something by Sade? "Smooth Operator" maybe? It has a sexy Latin sound to it...
