I dance in Austin, and it seems that as summer started, making money has become more of a challenge. Is this common for all or most clubs? If not, what parts of the U.S. are good during the summer?

Yeah business slows down in summer almost everywhere in US. May I refer you to this discussion about summer $:
Thank you Bridgette for the link. It was really helpful!
Apparently Seattle is better in the summer than the winter according to the other girls, but I have only been dancing for about 6 months so I don't really know yet. So far it hasn't been much better than winter, although it has been a lot busier (lots of bachelor parties and stuff due to summer weddings and whatnot).
Other way around here - Spring/Summer are the busier months due to winter being cool and/or wet. More people go out during Spring/Summer than winter. Regardless of the time of year, you will always make good money if you have the right know how ;)
A lot of times dancer earnings are club specific. And of course it depends on the particular dancer and if she has a clientele established.
As a general rule though, the entire I-10 corridor from west coast to east will be slower now as the weather is much hotter.
