Why are all of these old threads comming back up? I understand that the threads have great advice, but come on 2003! I don't even think the person who started the thread is even a posting member anymore.

There have been a few where the new member dug up the thread and pretty much just replied to the original poster (most of them haven't been back in a couple years), so I end up deleting the new post so it goes back to where it was.
Other than that, I don't mind seeing the old posts. It saves us all from telling them "Do A Search! This has been covered!"
What I wonder is where the newbies are finding these ooollllllddd threads. Do they not have to go back through tons of pages to even get to them???
Hahaha.. Yep, B. Or sometimes there are "Simliar Thread" links at the bottom of the page on recent posts. Some get dug up that way.
I just wanted to clarify... I don't have a problem with newbies digging up old threads as long as they have something VALUABLE to add to them. If they want to reply to the original poster in a thread where they've asked for advice.. They should check the dates of the last post in that thread. Chances are, if the last date is from 2003 or something, that original person no longer needs help. LOL..
I bring back old threads alot. I do this because sometimes the information provided is very relevant. Plus..alot of people need to use the "search" button more often before posting. Alot of these recent threads have already been discussed 5-10x.Quote:

If threads have already been discussed 5-10X, what is the point of resurrecting threads that are 2+ years old? Particularly if there are current threads on the same subject?
Yes, newbies find the old threads from the "similar threads" link at the bottom. I think.
Maybe some of the old threads can be combined with some of the new threads? Just a thought.
I agree, Saph... Kat, I really like your suggestion. Like I said there, I'll wait and see what Pryce has to say, and if he's for it, I'll make a sticky. I also think combining the threads is an excellent idea. I have a few hours of free time each day (between naps and when she's out for the night), so I could get it done for the Lounge in no time.
Well as you know, My group is People Against Letting Threads Extinguish. PALTE. I will fight this with every core of my being. REGULATORSSSSS! MOUNT UP!
Yes, I think combining threads would be a good idea. I start reading and thread and start to reply to learn that the thread was started at least a year ago if not more.
