i used to get swollen glands whenever I stressed out...
does it hurt?
it hurts when I push on it hard
Ingrown hair perhaps....I have no idea.
i had one of those once. i was like wtf is this??? a tumor in my pit? the doctor told me it was in ingrown hair and to leave it alone, i did, it eventually went away. mine hurt when i pushed on it too.
yes, i had an ingrown hair on my armpit once that did this, and also on my bikini line (yeeeowch!) it swelled up and fillled with pus (your body's defensive reaction) and then eventually popped... sorry, but it was gross.
I went to the doctor over it and basically was told to just let my body work it out. sitting in a hot bathtub and letting it soak caused it to burst sooner. Be sure to use antibacterial soap and neosporin on it to prevent further infection.
But yea, if it doesnt go away soon, see your doc.
BTW - my bf got one of these on his ballsack. LMAO!
well it could be an ingrown hair but,
if it's large it's a swollen lymph node.
This can be caused by stress or illness.. even menstruation.
(if it doesn't go away in a week or two go to the Doctor)
Although no resources indicate stress I have had personal experience with these as I've gotten them in different times of my life... particularly when I was taking final exams.
I suggest putting ice on it.
And take an anti- inflammatory.
also google swollen lymph nodes

If it hurts it's most likely not cancerous. I guessing it's either an ingrown hair or an infection. I stressed out over a painless lump in my groin area last week. Googled "lump in lymph node" and spent the better part of that weekend crying because I convinced myself I had lymphoma.
Not to gross the board out, but I get these all the time, and in the goddam wierdest places...ballsack, penis, behind my ear, inside my nose. Fucking piss me off. And then, surreal moment....somehow my dad and I would up having a conversation about how he gets them too...must be hereditary.
I would also suggest forgoing deodorant until it's resolved. Sometimes it can be clogged pores. Your deodorant could be contributing to clogged pores.
I agree with everyone else, though. If it gets noticeably larger...or changes color...or lasts for more than 1 week, go see the doc.
maybe she could use one of those natural Crystal deodorants?Quote:

Okay, get it checked out.
The axilla (armpit) shares the same lymph nodes as the breast. You should get it looked at.
If it is tender and feels deep under the skin, it might be of concern. Does it move around like the rest of the tissue in your axilla? If it does, it's probably not an issue. If it doesn't, you need to get it looked at.
I teach medical students how to give pelvic exams as one of my many jobs. I just want everyone to know that every month when you do your breast self exam, check your pit!
if its a new lump, and you don't know for sure that its a cyst, you should get it looked at immidiatly, I have two invisible cysts to the naked eye in my back. My doctor found them when I was younger, all I remember him telling my parents was 'We need to make sure its not cancerous'
!!
I accompanyed my friend to the doctor yesterday as she had exactly the same problem. Doc said it was an ingrown hair folicle, most likely caused from over shaving. She told her that if you get a lump on the part of your armpit were hair grows then its most likely an ingrown hair but if its below this level(nearer the breast) its more likely to be dangerous. She said next time leave it a few days and if it starts to get smaller its an ingrown hair but if not, come straight in and get it checked. I say, if in doubt, get it checked-better safe than sorry. Hope this info helps a bit. Try not to worry, likelyhood is its prob nothing,

It's most likely a swollen lymph node. You can get them from any kind of infection...a cut etc. You may not even notice what it is that could be causing it to swell. Did you have a sore throat in the last few weeks? Get a bad bruise lately?
I fell down last year and bruised my head something awful and my lymph nodes on the side of my neck (not my glands but like where a choker might sit) puffed out something crazy. You could even see them! I thought it was cancer..lol...
go get it checked out if it doesn't go away in a month or so
