Re: Am I Too Fat To Strip??
If you have to ask, the answer is "YES". I don't like fat dancers, so lose the weight first.
Ok, that was harsh. There is a market for chubby chicks, but I say get in better shape first, because it will improve your confidence, as well as your income.
Re: Am I Too Fat To Strip??
I’ve worked with many large dancers.. many different shapes and sizes.. I’ve seen some bank and others cry.. (skinny girls included!!)
The key to this business is sex appeal, confidence, attitude.. and lastly looks.. many men love large woman while others may take a dance out of sheer curiosity. I don’t know how large of whatever you are so I cant tell you more.. but if you have the confidence, I say go for it and don’t worry about what other girls say.. you might also loose weight and tone up as you work... you wont know until you try.
Good luck!
Re: Am I Too Fat To Strip??
Hey, this one is really easy! You may have a morphed body image, so find out if you really are too fat, or if your idea of what you should look like is just skewed from media images of very very thin women.
If your BMI is 24 and under you should be okay as a dancer. How do find your BMI? Go here: http://www.cdc.gov/nccdphp/dnpa/bmi/calc-bmi.htm
If you are over 24 then you need to lose a few before starting dancing. Curves are good, rolls are bad.
Re: Am I Too Fat To Strip??

Re: Am I Too Fat To Strip??
ok i just checked my BMI and I need to lose weight for sure :( this is gonna be hard
Re: Am I Too Fat To Strip??
I hate the BMI. It doesn't measure muscle mass. According to my BMI I'm borderline obese for my height. I have a 22" waist!!! I have a shitload of muscle from where I used to weightlift on a team in school.
I r not fat.
Re: Am I Too Fat To Strip??
im gonna post pics and tell me what u think!
Re: Am I Too Fat To Strip??
why waste your time, if you think youre fat you already have a confidence problem. stay off the stages so you dont waste your time or ours.

a little harsh?
im a proponent of building confidence and encouraging her to lose weight, if thats what she needs to do. I think this reply was pretty mean.
Re: Am I Too Fat To Strip??
BMI is a really, really poor measure for determining one's physical composition; get a caliper test to find out what your actual bodyfat percentage is.
Re: Am I Too Fat To Strip??
if more people were brutally honest than more people would understand how things work.
Re: Am I Too Fat To Strip??
Yeah, because ugly, no confidence strippers are bringing us all down!!!
Give me a break, Amylynne, jeez.
Re: Am I Too Fat To Strip??
you could be thin but have a face like a bucket of smashed mud crabs so chill the fuck out
i have worked with girls of all sizes and it is not always the thin pretty ones that bank
i cant believe how full of yourself you are "amylynnej" - your probably just pissed that a girl bigger than yourself can make more money when you spend so much time/money making yourself "the image" while these girls do the job without the fuss and still do better...
it comes down to confidence and how you make the customer feel
stage shows are only 20%
Re: Am I Too Fat To Strip??
wow, excellent advice. straight to the point with performance expectations.
i agree, in losing weight you have to be very careful you do not hurt your body in the process.
try to incorporate nutrient rich meals that are balanced, drink plenty of water, and excersise.
you will notice a diffrence once you get off the sweets, like instead of drinking a soda - try a glass of water and piece of fruit - they both probably have the same amount of sugars but the fruit will break down faster in your system, therefore satisfying the sugar crave.
i know this is cheesy, but try getting the book Body for Life- read it, and see if you could follow through the program. it is real easy instructions but be prepared to commit, and do something about your health -- i mean do not for stripping-- but for your health.
I think Curvy women rock! We need our modern renaissance woman!
Re: Am I Too Fat To Strip??
Curvy women do rock however......it depends on your fat distribution. If it sits all in your thighs or all in your stomach then its gonna be pretty hard to hide it on stage. If your thick otoh and you are just thick and even I wouldnt worry too much...you just gotta work on that self confidence. A serious lack of self confidence can burn the even prettiest of dancers.
Honestly, if you do want to loose weight dont do it to get on the stage (while getting stage is only 20% of your job the rest is on the floor selling) do it for yourself and for your health. Do it for the way you will feel when you get to wear that smaller size.....or when you start to get noticed more.....or when you start getting more free stuff. Do it for you not b/c we say so or suggest to do.
Re: Am I Too Fat To Strip??
Do you know of a club with more African American men? They like bigger booties, just like in the song by Sir Mixalot, "Baby's got back."
Re: Am I Too Fat To Strip??
Post a pic and we'll tell you. Curvy is okay, rolls hanging over, uh not so much. Even if you are a good hustler.

Wow, that is brutal. If she auditions, and the manager accepts, then she should at least try. There's a customer for every girl.
Re: Am I Too Fat To Strip??
Like everyone else has said, if you a curvy and proportioned go for it, but if you have rolls and hail damage (cellulite) maybe loose some weight and tone up first.
If you want to loose weight you need to work out how many Calories you burn a day. I think the sum is your weight in Kilograms times 33.
Eg - I weigh 50 kg so I burn 1650 calories a day, or more if I go running, so if i wanted to loose weight, id eat only 1150 calories a day and I'd drop about half a kilo a week.
if you go to www.dietclub.com.au it will tell you the amount of calories in most foods.
Also, some foods say Kilojules instead of calories, so I think the sum to convert Is
Amount in Kilojules divide by 4.1860 = calorie.
Good luck!
Re: Am I Too Fat To Strip??
Cut out soda and possibly meat for a while is my advice. Of Course, some people will tell you to go on Atkins, everyone is different. I have only been drinking water and while i haven't lost any weight, I feel much better! As far as if you're too fat or whatever. Start losing weight and then after you've lost a little 5-10lbs, I would start dancing at a club. Predominately black clubs might be more 'forgiving' about extra weight. Anyways, this is the quickest I've lost weight (while eating McD's every night at 3am, and hot dogs for breakfast!). Stay there (and stay on a calorie-restrictive diet) for a while, until you tone-up/get your BMI or Body Fat % close to where you want it and then work at a club you like better/more upscale/whatever.
Good luck.
By the way, www.livejournal.com has a lot of comunities that will support you on a day-to-day basis with your diet. just stay away from the ana/mia comunites.
set goals and have a time frame to complete them in. have incentives for the goals (i.e. get your belly button pierced when you hit X lbs or size X; get a new pair of work shoes when you get down to X% of Body Fat, etc.)
oh, and be careful of diet pills. I recently discovered the wonderful pain associated with ulcers (at the ripe age of 20, none the less!)....
Re: Am I Too Fat To Strip??
I hate to say it, but I actually agree with Amylynne. A lot of people come on sites like this looking for empathy, and needing folks to talk to for advice (and this is totally ok, it's what the site is here for). However, when someone is asking advice, and everyone who responds is beating around the bush and not giving truthful answers, well, it just doesn't help the person make a clear decision.
I am assuming that Amylynne is frustrated with girls coming on this site, complaining/asking for advice, and everyone instead just kinda puts their arm around their shoulders for comfort. This girl wants advice, so we must give it to her-
Any good/top club will require the girls to have a 8-10 body. I know ours does, and so do many others in the area. We (and the other clubs here in NY) will not hire girls who are out of shape, though if they are pretty, we might tell them to come back when they drop a few pounds. Yes, most strippers/entertainers have amazing bodies- and of course it helps even more as you are actively dancing! What a great thigh-burner!
If you want to start losing weight, simply cut down on your calorie intake - I like to tell girls to avoid anything that comes in a box/package. This means NO: frozen dinners, frozen pizza, chips, cookies, pretzels, fruit drinks, carbonated drinks, etc. It is important to eat fresh foods as much as possible- fruit, veggies, water, fish, chicken, etc.
Anyway, it's a start. Hey, you are what you eat: You eat McDonald's, you are going to look like a big fat cheeseburger.
Re: Am I Too Fat To Strip??
I never said I thought I was fat, I said I loved my body, so I don't have a confidence problem amylynne. I just wanted to know if i needed to have a perfect body to strip. All of your replys have been very helpful. I am gonna wait a few months and try to lose the weight. I love my self the way I am, but an improvment will only make me better. Then i'll start. Thanx for the help girls :) Ill keep you posted on how im doing if you'd like....ok bye
Re: Am I Too Fat To Strip??
Actually, what you said was "I want to strip, but I think Im too fat. I love my body, ...."
So translated, you just said you think you are fat but you love your body.
I'm glad to hear you are confident and feel good about the way you look- this is the first step in becoming a stripper! Good luck to you-
Re: Am I Too Fat To Strip??
it s different from club to club/ city. some of the clubs will hire fat or ugly women just to make more money on stage-house fees and they dont care what they look like as long as they pay -money has the same color to them whether it comes from beautiful or not beautiful girls. - many clubs in s f valley , CA, do that. one of the clubs in van nuys was so bad that sometimes drop in customers just walked away grossed out after 10 minutes ...some asked me why was i wasting my time there.
now, it really depends on what kind of dancer you want to be if your looks doesnt meet the standards yet. you can work on your body and improve it ,losing weight and learning how to dance if stage is a big part of the club u work at, or just try to make $ the easy way...meaning most of the fat girls have their own 'lap and vip dances' style, and this often includes extras.
but, i highly doubt it they d hire unattractive girls in DC or vegas or NY.
i once worked in a club where they hired a dancer s mom so both were dancing together , , the mother weighed about 300 lbs and a customer that didnt know about X being Y s mother told Y, ''hey that s pathetic, she shouldnt be showing that body'' , and she said ' for your information that s my mom' and she left him speechless . it was too funny !
