another 'wacko' study ...
Somebody needs remedial math. A 41 billion dollar cost of deporting 10 million illegal aliens amounts to $4,100 each. Has anybody bothered to stop and add up the costs of providing medicaid and other social services to illegal aliens by state and local governments ?

The latter is the more valuable link as far as accuracy goes, but still misses certain vital clues (such as the difference between immigrants and illegal immigrants, which are lumped together under one "immigrant" heading, and itemizing precisely how much of those sums offered were taxpayer dollars). Unfortunately, the study confirms that immigrants are more likely to have their health care paid for by the taxpayer than native citizens. Also unfortunately, you will fly right by that information if you aren't a careful reader.

Our laws should be enforced, or changed or repealed.
Discretionary enforcement of the law is undemocratic.

The relevant part I see is : "The study, published in the American Journal of Public Health, found that immigrants accounted for 10.4 percent of the U.S. population but only 7.9 percent of total health spending and 8 percent of government health spending."
Statistically that must be virtually the same.
In Melonie's article they quoted 4 billion needed to tighten up our borders. That is certainly a minor expense as compared to the social cost of illegal immigrants, not to mention the risk of potential terrorists hiding among them.
Re: another 'wacko' study ...
^ Setting aside the costs, it is the responsibility of the Federal government to secure the nation's borders--a role they have completely abdicated.
I don't care if it's $50 billion to seal the borders, it needs to be done. But as I've said before, not enough Americans have been killed here yet to get serious about the situation. I'm sure that will soon be rectified.
Re: another 'wacko' study ...
I fully agree with CO here for many reasons, as I have stated numerous times in PP.

It may sound harsh to some...but damn, I'm all for it.
