Male considering to be a dancer
Hi, I'm a male living in the GTA area. I'm going through pretty rough times now so I want to dance to have some money.
Stats about me is that I'm an attractive black male, 5'11, 160 and have a lean/toned build. I'm a bit shy of full nudity because I don't really have a big...schlong. Will penis size be a big concern, you think? That is my main insecurity for potential profit. I don't mind my size but I do want costumers.
I have a few questions. Is it a must to acquire a licence? First, I don't have the cash to pay that off. Secondly, does that mean I have to put my personal information for the licences? I'm a student studying law and I fear if I have my personal info with this type of licence I will not be accepted into the fields I'm studying for.
Is there anyone here who can guide me or is willing to help? I don't mind dancing for straight, gay or mixed clubs.
Re: Male considering to be a dancer
GTA!! Yay! I am in the GTA. I am not a dancer, but I can give you some suggestions. I feel for you too, I am a student too. It is good that you are keeping an open mind, I do not know too much about the penis thing, but I can tell you other things.
First off, from what I know it is not required to have a license in most of the suburbs. Toronto is strict on licensing though. I know this because I worked in massage and had to TO license. Assuming that the licensing requirements are the same, it is $250 and you must have a police check and bill of clean health- so make that $350 with all the fees. As for fear of this getting in the way of your future, if you plan on working in TO I would suggest getting a license as the penalties are high if you get caught without one. That could mean a criminal record. Thus it is well worth the money and I will tell you from personal experience. This does not go on a record that you have one of these, it is mostly for taxing purposes and to identify you as 18+. If you have prostitution related (and I say related because prostitution is not fully illegal in Canada) charges you can forget about them giving you a license.
Yes the personal info is needed for a license. They need a copy of ID, a health check and police record less then 30 days old. It is worth every penny. When I first started I worked at an unlicensed parlour, two days after I left they were busted-thank goodness for me as I am heading in to a career in the vanilla world in a few years. I got the license and it was a hassle trying to gather my records. Not having the license really closes doors for working in TO. On the license is a number and your stage name (as I remember) and nothing that visabally has to do with you being you.
If you insist on not getting the license I would suggest working in the suburbs.

oh and to add, most clubs and parlours here will help you with the license.
Re: Male considering to be a dancer
Thanks for the response, OJenni!. Toronto seems to have a weak market for male strip clubs. As I'm aware Remington's (Toronto's premiere gay strip club) is full of hustlers and I hear many customers complain because of that. I don't know if I'll be able to make money there. Additionally, fees to dance are from 10-35 bucks plus the licence. Of the other few straight male strip clubs...they all seem like features and are a lot more beefier than I am making me think I'll be rejected.
I guess I'll have to look into Montreal now since it seems filled with gay strip clubs that doesn't require "Fabio" bodies, not that mine is bad just not as meaty as the others.
