Three-Legged Puppy!
I wish I had a picture to post but you'll have to use your imagination...
My sister and I were at the park (having an important existential conversation, incidentally) and a couple showed up with a cute Rottweiler puppy, about 10 weeks old...with a little nub-in-a-sling for a front right paw. They explained he was born that way and it was so adorable, he was motoring along as if he had no clue he was crippled.
So then I told my sister about a HomeStar Runner Web Flash toon where a drawing of a threelegged puppy is used to make someone cry...;D
The topic of our conversation was Terrible Things Happen To You In Life, Yes, But Those Things Happen to Everyone And You Must Survive And Learn....It was just funny to have a three-legged puppy underscore the lesson of the day.
(PS I hope none of you are tempted to make dirty jokes...please, think of the puppies...LOL)

Re: Three-Legged Puppy!
Awwww.. How precious.
One of my best friends adopted a dog about 5 years ago. She hadn't planned on it, because she already had 3 other dogs (2 black labs, and a dachaund). She was in PetsMart getting some food for them, and it had been "Adoption Day", where the local shelters bring in pets available for adoption. This little puppy was the only one not to be adopted out. Why? She was blind and deaf. Gorgeous dog, a full-blooded Dalmatian. But no one saw past her problems.
So of course, my friend snatched her up, and named her "Summer" and took her home. You would never have known that she was blind and deaf by the way she acted. I don't even think she's aware of it to this day. She's still my fave of all her dogs.

Re: Three-Legged Puppy!
My neighbors had a 3-legged cat growing up, a Siamese. That cat climbed trees, chased birds, and generally didn't seem to notice. It was neat to watch her walk, though....she had this kinda strange loping gait, almost like a gallop, to make up for the missing front leg.

Re: Three-Legged Puppy!
Aw! My friend had a clipping from the local SPCA on her fridge for years...it was a three legged German Shepard named Tripod. The write-up brushed off his three-leggedness by saying "dogs don't care about things like legs!".
SO PRECIOUS!!!

Re: Three-Legged Puppy!
My neighbor's had a cat that got its front right leg whacked off when she decided that a warm car engine was a good place to sleep. She got along just fine without it. I was so used to seeing it as a kid that it never even phased me that it might be odd. She was a helluva hunter, too.

Re: Three-Legged Puppy!
I have seen a few 3 legged dogs. There's even one on "Surreal Life". I would one day like to have an animal santurary for animlals like that.
