Brass Poles or Stainless Steel Poles?
Which is best to pole dance on, Stainless Steel or Brass Poles? I'm starting up a new women's fitness studio and one of my Dance Studio's will have a dozen stripper poles and i need to decide which type of pole is best to dance on. I've only danced on stainless steel and acrylic but i find both can get slippery simply with natural body oils....is brass any easier?
Re: Brass Poles or Stainless Steel Poles?
I like brass poles. As long as girls dont wear lotion right before they come down then I think you should be ok. Or you can have a rag with some alcohol on it to wipe down and make the pole more "grippier".
I dont think Ive ever worked at a club with stainless steal though.

Re: Brass Poles or Stainless Steel Poles?
I prefer brass poles even though I can't stick to them to save my life... lol. I was also told that brass is better for newer girls because of its grip quality, stainless steel is a little slicker.
Re: Brass Poles or Stainless Steel Poles?
I prefer brass for grip...but you cannot beat stainless for speed on the spins. ;)
Since you're teaching mainly beginners...I would say go with brass.
Re: Brass Poles or Stainless Steel Poles?
Whatever you choose, make sure you do have rags and bottles of alcohol handy for every pole.
At the end of the night, I try to wipe our pole at work down with well gin or vodka. Don't know why those two work so well but they do.
But I'm sure rubbing alcohol works too. ;)
Re: Brass Poles or Stainless Steel Poles?
I have only had good experiences with Brass Poles. I sell them on my website as well.() But just like someone mentioned make sure none of the girls use lotion and do keep a rag handy just incase someone decides to lube up before they get on your pole. Especially if you are thinking about opening a studio. Brass in my opinion has better Grip.

Hi Robin Lin :flirt: ,
Girl, it seems I've been looking everywhere for you for the last 6 months LOL. Search engines never led to your site; might wanna check that out (your search cues).
I almost caved in to a powder-coated pole really always wanting the brass, but I decided to hold out :goodvibes: .
Good to know for when I have the ca$h ...
Thanx. :thanx:
*God bless*
P.S. When will you be able to restock?

The spinning ease with a stainless steel pole can be kept and even improved if the brass pole is rotating in its brackets--that's the way the backstage pole is in my current club, and that's the one I play on sometimes before customers get there. The only problem with it is that it's hard to keep from kicking the damned ceiling tiles out, lol--but that's off topic, sorry.
Re: Brass Poles or Stainless Steel Poles?
Brass is way better for grip...i HATE stainless steel poles.... you cant get a grip on them at all... but as goddess said they are great for speed on spins.... I learned to climb a pole on a stainless steel pole... not something I recomend lol.
Re: Brass Poles or Stainless Steel Poles?
Yes. I do inverted upside down pole tricks and darnit, I do NOT want my ass slipping down and cracking my cervical vertibrae...again. ;-;

I do two kinds of them, one is no problem at all with stainless steel--but doing the other the first time on a SS pole caused me to slide right down and hit my fucking head on the stage. Fortunately I have a thick skull, and I had slowed the slide down with my forearm somehow, which left a nasty purple bruise there, but saved cracking my skull.
Re: Brass Poles or Stainless Steel Poles?
Brass I even worked at a club that used brass cleaner and it made the poles even better to stick to. My least favorite chrome I've never heard of it anywhere but when I worked in Cali but they were awful!
Re: Brass Poles or Stainless Steel Poles?
You can apparently get a pole without spending much at all by buying it at a muffler shop, but whether they have brass, stainless steel, or chrome I wouldn't know. I'm sure it varies.
Next time I get a house, though, I'll be putting a pole in it!

   One of my old bosses knocked out the stage lights doing that one morning, we got him up on stage and we put a garter on him and started tipping him to parody the stripper moves (it was his birthday, big night) he says "hey watch this" and flips upside down on the pole breaking all the front stage lights on the way through, we were in fits of laughter, the cleaner was doing her thing and he called out to her trying to maintain his "I'm the boss" composure "can you clean that up" ha ha ha, it was years ago and I still remember it.
Brass with a small diameter is the best for hand grip, larger diameter for hanging off, for spinning, poles on bearings (so the closer you are to the pole the faster it spins, futher away the slower it spins) I find a medium diameter and spinning brass the best as the thin ones can bend, for beginers though go with a slightly thicker diameter (so they can still grip well with both hands but also with their legs) in brass as the slight corrosion brass gives off encorages grip, stainless get greasy real quick. maintainence is important, be sure if the pole spins it is lubricated with a silicon like "trackfast" spray that has a tube on the nozzle to put the spray right where you want it.
