Re: shoes w/straps or no?
I started with strappy shoes and I found them a lot easier in my early dancin days. Personally, I like to strap them up plenty tight so there is less chance of your foot sliding around in the shoe. Expect your ankles to be sore for awhile. Sizing can be difficult. make sure that your foot fits snugly, but not too tight. Hopefully you have a store where you can try on and experience the shoes a little before purchase. I know a lot of girls buy online to save money, but I would only reccomend this once you have found a company, style, and definate size that works for you. Some stores (at least where I live), are weird about dancer shoe returns so take a lot of time to find a good shoe when you try on. I personally love "Jante's" shoes. Happy hunting!
Re: shoes w/straps or no?
I wear shoes with straps, and still do LDs barefoot (taking off my shoes for LDs saves my feet...IMHO it makes a huge difference.) Just buckle the shoe one hole looser than it needs to be--they'll be easy to slip off and on for LDs, but they'll still give you some stability and won't fly off onstage.
Re: shoes w/straps or no?
super old thread.. but i used to prefer straps. when i buy a new pair, i'll probably get one with straps, but my pair right now, the straps broke and i had to wear them anyway. usually i hate that, but im ok with it lately. sometimes i do feel them sliding off when im on stage though, but it is much easier than hooking and unhooking for dances (which is how i always break mine faster than they should).
Re: shoes w/straps or no?
I have really really sensitive skin on my feet, so I always had to wear socks or lots of friggin bandaids to keep the blisters off.
I started with strappy shoes and it was easy to dance fast and keep my balance in general.
I wear em without straps now, just the band across the top of my foot nearer the ankle. Got em from Jante for $15 and I won't wear any others. So comfortable.
But if I was gonna do tricks or go fast, I'm sure they'd fly right off.
Re: shoes w/straps or no?
I always found it easier with shoes that didnt have ankle straps. and the ones that i owned that did have em, i would tuck the straps into the shoe somehow, away from my ankle. straps always made the shoes sit weird with me feet. when i stopped using them walking was much easier. but maybe i am weird..
Re: shoes w/straps or no?
okay since im startiong at the new club in 2 weeks today at my old club i broke the strap on my shoe
very depressing because i LOVED them so i found this pair at red door that i want but 1st has anyone ever had a problem with them because if so i dont wanna spen 80 bucks on these and the break the 1st nite
i give lap dances in shoes just because i like the way the shoes make my bum look tighter so i wont be taking them on and off
help lease?
Re: shoes w/straps or no?
^^That's why I dont buy shoes with the straps. You wouldn't believe how many times a night I see a girl frowning because her brand new shoes are broke at the strap.
Re: shoes w/straps or no?
i am a total threadjacker but ive fallen in love with these? what do you guys think?
Re: shoes w/straps or no?
^^Those shoes always make me think of anal beads. lmao
But, for the OP: straps... I prefer leather shoes, but they are hard to find and expensive, so you probably won't start with a pair. FYI Pleasers patent leather (open-toe) shes pinch...they don't stretch out right at the toes...ever. I LOVE ELLIES...cute, comfy, and relatively inexpensive... Happy Shopping!

If you do decide to go with thigh high boots, please go stilletto and not platform. Platforms are tooooo Gene Simmons or Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Re: shoes w/straps or no?
Can't wear anything without straps otherwise they'd go flying...
Re: shoes w/straps or no?
I saw this girl in NYC at the Hustler that had these shoes that had like a wrap around strap, not a tie- but it looked like a stretched out spring going up to about mid calf, they were awesome, anyone know what i'm talking about??

Re: shoes w/straps or no?
They were kind of like that gypsy, but the wrap around part looked like a clear tube with like a silver pipecleaner inside of it, this description is making me laugh...
I'm going to try to find them with google or something, if anyone has ideas, let me know!
Re: shoes w/straps or no?
I'm still in shoes with straps, I know one day I need to move up to strapless (they really do help your legs), but so far I'm just scared.
I do know that a lot of the girls at my club if they have on stockings or do a lot of pole tricks, they loop a garter around the heel and then around their ankle. Instant straps that you can have in any color. Some wear them all night, some only for stage.
Re: shoes w/straps or no?
I have never owned a pair of shoes with a strap... guess I'm a daredevil that way! I guess I just didn't like the look... I've always gone with some sort of slip-on. I don't like clear plastic... they hurt my feet badly, plus everyone has them. I like more unique styles that I don't see on other girls. These are my favorite shoes of all time... not for a beginner, but if you can master shoes with this kind of spike, you can dance in anything. Find them on www.snaz75.com

Re: shoes w/straps or no?
I always wore plastic for the most part because I am short and feel that they elongated my legs.
I preferred them with straps because I blew out my ankle -twice, and I felt the straps kept me feeling more secure about balancing on 6 1/2" spikes.
