Approached by Photographer
Today i was in the bookstore and some guy comes up to me and asks me if i have done any modeling. He procedes to give me a piece of paper with his information written on it. He listed 2 websites where i could see his work, and the images were copyrighted under his name. Also on the paper he listed his email address and it matched the email address listed for more information on the images, so i think he is legit. Basicly i was just curious if any of you ladies have had anything like this happen to you? Do you think i should contact him or does it sound to risky to anyone?
Re: Approached by Photographer
Its not that hard to look legit and not be... if you want, you could PM me the guy's name and the websites and I can ask around for ya? Might turn up something.
Re: Approached by Photographer
I've heard photographers talk about doing that, but it's just a little curious that he didn't have a card, if he doesn't mind trying to harvest models off the street.
If he's got a website, he's got references, and he can be checked out. If you want to model and you like his style, you can e-mail him and research his credentials and references. Remember, photographs are forever, so only do modeling that you're comfortable with. Paige is accomplished and can give you the good tips from the model's point of view.
Re: Approached by Photographer
I was given a card with the mans name address and phone number. He was a photographer he said. I called a woman answered saying the company name and....It was all true.
These guys carry business cards mainly. If anyone writes something on paper for me, my red flag goes up higher. Simply because business cards can be a bunch of BS too.
Good luck,
Pamela

Awww beat me to it jay.. :)
Yes if there is a website listed....Too easy to find out if "he" is for real.

Re: Approached by Photographer
one good way to ask about this is going to webmodels forum. they have some people there who are really good at raising the bs flag and often some of the people will help you question or get info on the people. Youll see a few playboy models there as well. Girls like sandee westgate, sydney moon and tricia wilds who regularly post there and theyll help you out as well check into a guys credentials.
Re: Approached by Photographer
So far I havent found any info on this guy. I would suggest contacting the folks he's worked with, on the book and on the website, and ask them. If he's a professional, he wont be insulted by you checking on references. Also ask if there are any models he's worked with that you can contact. Ask what he wants to shoot, why, etc... find out if he is looking to up his portfolio or get paid. Find out if you get use of or at least copies of the work or not. Find out what he plans on doing with the images... boosting his portfolio, filling space on a website, selling them to galleries or as prints. Get it all in writing. TYPED writing too. All nice and legalized. I'm still asking around for ya though.
Re: Approached by Photographer
Instead of running around trying to see if this dirtbag is for real, just say no.
Most legitimate photographers I have worked for always got their models from a model agency. That's how I got hired to do some nude teeny shots.
