Cocktail Waitress at Strip Club
Hi ladies !! This is my first post here in your forums although I am looking around for about a week or so. I have always been interested in your line of work however low self esteem among other things have kept me from dancing.
Just recently I decided to try and get my foot in the door by either bartending or cocktail waitressing at a local club. I recieved a call for an interview for tomorrow for a bartending position...Now my question is what do I wear. I have been to clubs before with my husband but never for a job interview so I am not sure if I should wear slacks, jeans, or a skirt. If my clothes should be snug or if they should fit with a little room. I guess Im just not sure how flashy to be or not to be.
If someone could please help me with this I would most appriciate it !!
Thanks in advance for your time !!!
Have a wonderful day/ evening

Re: Cocktail Waitress at Strip Club
I'd say wear something form-fitting that shows a bit of cleavage - but don't go overboard.
If you have a sexy pair of pinstripe or just plain business-style pants, I'd reccomend those. Nothing wrong with looking sexy and professional at the same time.
I'm sure they'll tell you what to wear when you're at work... Waitressing is actually a really good choice if you're unsure because you'll be right there in the atmosphere, and you can observe and eventually determine whether or not dancing is your forte.
It's also good because waitresses make pretty steady money. A lot of guys go there to get drunk and watch, not necessarily to tip or get dances. A lot of waitresses do better than dancers, depending on the size, locale and popularity of your club.
Whatever happens, I wish you the best of luck, and welcome to the industry!

Re: Cocktail Waitress at Strip Club
If you get offered the bartending position, take it over the waitress one. Bartenders typically average much more than the waitresses plus get a tip-out from the waitresses. At my club, the bartenders get $20 from every waitress on top of their tips.

Re: Cocktail Waitress at Strip Club
Oh wow right on !! THanks so much for that info !! I was wondering how that worked...I am sure they all do a little differently but would make sence to do the way your explaining.
Thanks both of you for answering my question !!!

Re: Cocktail Waitress at Strip Club
good luck... let us know how you make out.

Re: Cocktail Waitress at Strip Club
Hiya Ladies and thanks so much for all your support and replies to my question.
When speaking with the owner of the club yesterday he said that I will have a
2nd interview this week. From the looks of it I would be doing both cocktailing and
bartending on the slower nights until i'm comfortable being alone bartending. That
shouldnt take long as I have bartended before though just for a short time.
In the mean time I will put my resumes in at other places and see what comes up.
Take care all and again thanks for your time!!

Re: Cocktail Waitress at Strip Club
Thats awesome! Yeah, I'd say you can make pretty good money either way....we tip our bartender 10% of what we make a night. And we usually walk out of there with a couple hundred in tips. So good luck!!
-
Re: Cocktail Waitress at Strip Club
Thats what the % is at the place I applied also. Plus the cocktail waitresses are supposed to tip out the bartender. So either way it should work out really well. More than anything I wanted a foot in the door to see if I could actually have enough guts to strip. Though if I can make good money bartending or cocktail waitressing I would be just as content.
Thank you ladies for your time and comments its really great to be able to chat about this.
Have a wonderful day and take care

Re: Cocktail Waitress at Strip Club
Ok so I got my call today to go in for my second interview tomorrow.
I dont even know if I have been interviewed like this before for any job

So now i need to go shopping again....Actually its probably just an excuse to
go shopping since i have stuff I just want something new and fresh.
Have a wonderful evening ladies !!!

Re: Cocktail Waitress at Strip Club
Good luck! I started off as a waitress too. It's a great way to see if you'll really be comfortable in that environment and whether or not dancing is for you. You might just decide that bartending is close enough! Keep us posted!!

Re: Cocktail Waitress at Strip Club
What's the difference between a waitress at a strip club and a stripper at a strip club?
About three weeks. ;)
-
Re: Cocktail Waitress at Strip Club
Lol...Thats a pretty good one Lilith!! Though I am sure that for many people its
so very true !! So I wont say no way that wont happen to or for me...
I just know that its a great way for me to get my toes wet. You ladies have been
very awesome and I thank you for all of your support !!! Ill let you know what happens
after this interview. ;)

Re: Cocktail Waitress at Strip Club
Yeah, I've had thoughts about dancing before hah but I think I'll stick to waitressing until I get toned. *if that ever happens lol*
-
Re: Cocktail Waitress at Strip Club
I know the feeling on the toned part but actually that isnt my issue with my
body mines the size of my breasts...Lol..Surprise surprise...Not that i think
you need to have large breasts to make money...Just that Im not comfortable
with mine. I would like to be a little firmer also....But if i can make decent or good
money this way then great.
-
Re: Cocktail Waitress at Strip Club
Oh God, I'm an A cup....lol
-
Re: Cocktail Waitress at Strip Club
Yeah so am I...actually I think that I am probably less than an A cup but havent the guts to have one of those women measure me to tell me so....Lol....I always get those wonderful bra's with like the silicone in them to push up what i do have and add a ton xtra......
I could go on forever about how much i dont like mine...Especially the way they hang...But it wont do me any good. So one day I will get a wonderful boob job and call it good !!!!
Ok off to the 2nd stage of this interview. See ya'll later

Re: Cocktail Waitress at Strip Club
Question..
Do most clubs require experience to waitress?
Because I have none, and like to get a part time waitressing.
-
Re: Cocktail Waitress at Strip Club
I was a waiter for a few months. There's nothing to it. If a manager requires experience from a food server, the manager requires a brain.

Some SC's require experience in cocktail waitressing. Just wondering if they all require it.
-
Re: Cocktail Waitress at Strip Club
To be honest I really dont know the answer to your question. I would think that
if you have some sort of customer service and/ or cash handling experiance you
would be just fine. I guess it would also depend on the volume of business that
the particular club has.... But once again I dont really know as this is the first SC
that I have ever applied at.

Re: Cocktail Waitress at Strip Club
Cocktail waitressing is not simply a matter of, "Whaddaya want?" and "Here ya go -- thanks for the tip."
No. No no no.
First of all, you have to know what's in every single drink in creation, and then you have place your order from your bartender in a very precise sequence: first order your miscellaneous bourbons, then your Scotches, your brandies, your rums, your vodkas, your gins and finally your tequilas.
And that's only for the well drinks (drinks that aren't ordered by name -- they come up a hose from a giant Costco well in the basement). After you order your well drinks (on the rocks first, then the ones with water, then the sodas, then the ones with juices), you order your call drinks (drinks called for by name, like Old GrandDad or some B.S.).
Same thing there with rocks, water, soda, juice. THEN you order your mixed drinks -- your Harvey Wallbagers, etc.
THEN your wines, then your beers, then your plain sodas and then your coffees. You must do it that order OR ELSE Joe Pesci will come up from Security and break your thumbs.
Also, when ordering a well bourbon (which is allegedly the most popular order in a casino, bourbon being a catch-all for ALL American whiskies not called for by name), DON'T say the word bourbon!!!! That wastes valuable casino and club time. Simply give your first orders to the barman as, "Rocks!" or "Soda!" He will supposedly know that you mean "and bourbon" because this is the first order you're giving him.
The money? About the same as a dancer. Sometimes less, sometimes more.
I hated it when I was a waitress. Made me a nervous wreck.

Re: Cocktail Waitress at Strip Club
I dunno, i have a friend of my roomie who has been working as a cocktail waitress for a few years now, same club. She said she had experience, she did not. She winged it.
Instead of writing down (and many cocktail waitress write down drinks that have a little something extra in them) it gets very easy to remember, the bartender makes the drink, you just deliver!!
But again, i see these ladies walk around with a little pad and write, no biggie, then they get the drinks to the people at the table, collect money, give change, and off they go!!!
Not hard. And these ladies can rake in some $$$$$, yes, i have heard of many kicking a dancers ass with $$$, and a bartender even more $$$$$.
Work in an up-scale club, lots of business...should be fine.

Re: Cocktail Waitress at Strip Club
Cocktail Waitress Tips.
Cocktails - from the waitress: $1 to $2 a drink if you care how soon you wanna gets back around to the custie. I always get a kick out of people in the nickel areas complaining that they have not seen a waitress. These same people act like they are doing you a favor to give you a dollar . You have to do the same amount of walking regardless of whether you are bringing a coffee to the nickel area or a top shelf drink to the higher limit areas.
Sometimes, there are a lot of people that come in, and you would have to fight your way through mobs of people with maybe a pitcher of beer and serve six people and sometimes they don't tip, and that sucks. I could kill'em.
Notes and exceptions: Cocktail waitresses are generally union and well paid with full benefits. A handful of more modest casinos and clubs limit what you can serve. Have a good note pad and good ink pen, or very good memory, you gonna need them. Good luck.
