Re: Cocktail Waitress at Strip Club
Thanks for the info ladies. ;)
Pamela, not that I know what a bartender/waitress makes but I always felt that most of the time they make more then dancer. Well, I guess depending on the club. Because custies will order drinks. Some men go to SC and they don't even buy dances. Just go to drink.
Re: Cocktail Waitress at Strip Club
Hah yeah EffeZX, sounds like a day in the life for me too...lol. Gotta love non tippers....a guy came in the other day, and freaked out when I told him how much a drink was.
Him'"When did the prices go up?? They were like, 1.25 less before."
Me "Um, no, from what I've heard they've always been this price."
Well, he really wants to see the show so he orders a rye seven, and once I come back...dun dun dun....a 26 cent tip lay on the table.
Him-"Aren't you gonna take your tip, girly?"
Me-"No, you look like you need it more than me." And you need some manners too to boot, -_-;
Re: Cocktail Waitress at Strip Club
Well, you can probably get a job @ a little dinky, (off-strip casino) fairly easily for little $$ and a lot of B.S..
That's what I did & I hated it.
To get a GOOD Cocktail Job first you'd have to join the Culinary Union, go on "the List" & wait to get called.
"The List" is compiled in order of seniority & experience. Keep in mind that there are still girls who were laid off during the slow season that have yet to be called back, & you'd have to wait 'till they were called back first.
Even then, you'd be on the extra board and having to bid for the good shifts/stations against those w/higher seniority. It could take a few years before you get a decent shift/station/tips.
Sorry for the bad news, but unless you have someone to pay the rent while you wait, it may not be a wise move
Re: Cocktail Waitress at Strip Club
Well, someone gave me advice & told me to pick up a bartender's book to learn what are in drinks & learn their names. Makes sense....i'm picking one up soon.
Re: Cocktail Waitress at Strip Club
Well then I guess for that reason I am glad that I live in a smaller area and dont have to worry about all the BS. Im not looking to make huge money, here we get whatever the pay rate is ($7.25) plus whatever tips we make for the evening. So if I go into work an 8 hour shift and make $40 in tips on top of that I just made $12 an hour which is way more than I am going to make at some desk job. I wont lie and say that I wouldnt like to make more but I sure as shit wont complain about it at all. The job market here is harsh so if I work at a small club at least Im making more than the average person. Goodluck....And that is a good tip for the drink book. Have a wonderful day all !!!! Thanks for the information, its sure great to have a place to come and have such knowledgable people !!! Especially on information like this!!!
Re: Cocktail Waitress at Strip Club
Yeah it is, since I have no knowledge on drinks at all. I hope it'll work out for me....and good luck to you too! :)
Re: Cocktail Waitress at Strip Club
There is lots of information to get on the net also. Keep in mind that you can do google searches and pull up all types of information on drinks and how they are made, That way if you dont have the extra cash to go out and buy the book right now you can still get your learn on !! Lol....Now one post said something about Vegas...Is that where you are? And were you thinking of a larger club or just finding something that was comfortable enough for you to get your feet wet?
Re: Cocktail Waitress at Strip Club
hmmm that too, lol. thanks. :)
no, i'm not in Vegas. I was looking for a place in NY. And NY would be convinient for me bc i'm only looking on doing it on Fridays and Saturdays, since I have a regular job.
Re: Cocktail Waitress at Strip Club
Vegas is where I am. Tough making it as a waitress here. Too many damn competition in the high end Upscale clubs and casinos. More opportunities for bartenders, females here.
Trying to be one soon.
Dancing is all right here for the time being. So long.
Re: Cocktail Waitress at Strip Club
I currently have a bartending job. And believe me, it is not as easy as it appears.
Least when I was a dancer, I could set my own schedule. Not so as a bartender.
You got to be there when they want you and stay from 8 to 10 hours per night.
When I was dancing, I never did more than 8 hours.
Only thing good about it is the money, it is a good steady flow.
Did cocktail waitressing for a few months, it is allright, but it is more than just go and serve drinks. You got so many drinks to serve, so little time to do it in, and walk, walk, and walk.
Oh well, it's not so bad. You will like it. Good luck.
Re: Cocktail Waitress at Strip Club
Some clubs, casions, strip clubs are good enough to offer you free drinks.
It is my job to bring them to you. A standard tip is $2 for me being so nice.
Please place the tips on my serving tray.
I record who ordered what based on where you are sitting in the SC.
If you were to move, don't expect to remember you.
Different waitress work different sections of the SC, so if you move out of your waitress section, don't expect her to deliver your drinks to you. In other words, DON'T MOVE.
Realize that I only serve drinks. I do not serve food, so, DON'T ASK.
Please also wait until I serve you the drinks. If you grab the drinks off my tray
it could upset and unbalance the tray and the drinks will spill. So, PLEASE WAIT.
Being a waitress is like anything else. You either catch on quick, or not.
I've read previous comments here that it is real easy.
Yes, but that is mainly from people who has never been one.
This job can get quite stressful. It can get bad. And like all other public service jobs, there is always the one nutcase that is seemingly impossible to deal with.
On applying, use a little common sense. Go in the morning or around 3 to 4 in the afternoon, do not go in the evenings or duinr lunch. The manager will not have time and he will just dismiss you.
Finally, don't buy any of those videos, books, and other paraphenalia on waitressing. Those kind of books are about the same as those teaching you how to improve your sex life. Junk.
Take care and good luck.
Re: Cocktail Waitress at Strip Club
how much do cocktail waitresses average per night??
Re: Cocktail Waitress at Strip Club
Over at my club, where I am now an assitant manager, waitress bring in about $150 to $200 per night, before tips. After tips, if you do good, you could pull in $300 to $400 per night. But, remember, this is at an upscale club. Jobs like these are not waiting like a plumb on tree ready to be plucked.
An article on Gambling Magazine says that,
"Pay: Minimum wage - $5.15 an hour - plus tips. Average gross is $150 per 10- hour shift, $200 to $300 "on a good night."
Benefits: 401K plan, dental and medical insurance, one week vacation after one year, two weeks after two years, three weeks after six years"
Here is the link, read all about it.
Re: Cocktail Waitress at Strip Club
When I started going there was no difference. The dancers got off the stage and picked their trays back up. No table dances then either, so I guess they needed all the tips.
