Getting mistaken for another dancer
So, apparently I have a twin at the club. She works mostly at the big club in our area, but comes to our place once in a while too. I saw her for the first time last night and I guess we do look alike (as in, we could be sisters, but not like if you saw us up close you couldn't tell us apart). Also, while I do this bumbling blond thing she's the hot, bold, often in black leather dom girl. So basically if a customer was really familiar with her, he wouldn't get the two of us confused.
Anyway, this is tricky for me because she is such a popular dancer, I actually often have guys asking me for a dance thinking I'm her...I won't know they've mixed us up because they just ask me for a dance like they know me (from stage is what I assume) and then will say "Thanks Bianca" when they pay me...I go to correct them, and they say "Oh, so what's your name this week?". Then I say I'm not who you think, and we all just get a little confused. It doesn't help that the other dancers think I'm her sometimes too from far away (ie- will direct guys looking for her to me across the room).
Basically, I feel a little guilty getting business this way. I try to straighten it out, but what should I do? Really I'm worried about her getting pissed. I only met her once, but she's pretty aloof. And it's not really hurting her earnings much it seems, because she's always selling dances without a problem. She's also hardly ever at our club (like twice a week at the most) whereas I'm there five nights a week. Has this type of thing ever happened to anyone else? How should I handle it? I assume because I'm new and haven't developed much of a rep for myself yet that also contributes to the problem. Any advice? thanks!
Re: Getting mistaken for another dancer
The worst mix up I've had was during a "cattle call" in a fairly big showbar/gentleman
club. Usually 50 to 60 dancers on night shift on a Friday.
They almost always sell T shirts, having several crates of them in the storage area shipped by mistake. The T shirts are long and white and all look the same.
You've got 40 available dancers all wearing high heels wearing white T shirts and from the
distance of the table to the stages you can't tell who anybody is.
Re: Getting mistaken for another dancer
well if you are new you could change your look a bit... or just tough it out, develop your own rep based on who you are, but accept that sometimes you'll get a dance cuz you look like her... there are worse problems to have...
Re: Getting mistaken for another dancer
-If they are such good regulars of this other dancer, and came to contact with you up close and personal, I do not understand how they can not notice any distinction in your appearance.( as well as the differing personalities)
-Anyway, If you felt more comfortable, you could target them as soon as they call you over. You could say something along the lines of... Hi my name is (......), I am sometimes mistaken for ANOTHER popular dancer here. Would you like to experiance one of my great lapdances (Or whatever line you use to ask a guy)
-Obviously, you possess some of the same good qualities that attract these men( Not your fault baby), so why not make the money? It is not like you are wrongly advertising yourself as this girl, and using her exact name and persona. Keep being yourself.
-If they were such faithful customers... they would know the difference I assume ( Custies chime in on this!)
-Regardless, if you are still making these customers happy, making the money, and introducing yourself as yourself... I do not see a problem.
Re: Getting mistaken for another dancer
Man, people kept mistaking me for this one girl that I do NOT look like. I'm light skinned, she's dark skinned. I have perfect teeth, hers are all f*cked up. My breasts sit up, hers hang down to her knees. I could go on about how different we look, but I would want to throw my computer out of the window. I had to learn how to surpress my anger at being mistaken for her...They would think I was her from afar, but then notice it was me when I got close.
Sometimes you men...(no offense)
Oh, sorry. I think you're ok since you've done everything you could to rectify the situation.
Re: Getting mistaken for another dancer
At the last club I was at, I got mistaken for 2 other dancers... a) I really didnt see it, save for the fact that we all have long, dark hair... one was Native American and Asian and Caucasian... which made her look NOTHING like me... the other was way taller than I am... but they were both really shady chicks... drugs and severe extras and super drunken-ness... so I always got pegged as some psycho when folks thought I was one of them!
Egads no! Paige = good girl! Paige = Paige! Dammit!
Re: Getting mistaken for another dancer
Here's the clincher, imho: we could be sisters, but not like if you saw us up close you couldn't tell us apart
If the customer can't tell you apart from her once he is having a private dance from you ... and, as you said, there is differences between the two of you once up close... take his money.
You could turn them around to be fans of you instead of her... Just play it off with a laugh... "Everyone gets us mixed up alot! I actually like her so thanks for the compliment however I'm (name). Look me up next time you are in the club" ;D
If the other dancers direct guys looking for Bianca to you from across the room, it isn't your fault... so take advantage of the opportunity.. once again use the "Thanks for the compliment but I'm (name)." line and endeavour to sell them a dance.
At the same time, this does have something to do with how long you've been at the club. You havn't established yourself there yet. If you work 5 nights a week it will probably take a month for everyone to start to distinguish the two of you.

I understand. Sometimes guys keep mistaking me for a girl who I just do not look like at the club. The only reason they get us mixed up is because we are the same race. That's it!!
She has richly dark ebony skin and I'm very light skinned, like caramel. She also has shoulder length curly black hair. I have elbow length blond braided hair (but alas! no more, but I haven't been in the club yet with my new makeover). She has smaller boobs than me (she's an A, I'm an E) and she has a completely different accent to mine. We don't even dress the same either and we dance to completely different tunes on stage.
It sometimes boggles me that people can get us mixed up! I guess we do have a similar athletic frame and are the same height, but that's it. Otherwise, I never understand how else we are alike.
I think men, especially with a drink in them, barely even care to distinguish. When it comes to races outwith their own (especially if they rarely mingle with them in their own lives due to demographics or ignorance), they all see you looking the same or very similar. I think that's the case where I am.
Re: Getting mistaken for another dancer
I have to deal with the same kind of issue, my best friend and i look alot alike. We can pull off the sister act if wanted. When she left work to have a baby i suddenly got all of her customers they would call me by her name and when i would correct them they would get confused. It got to the point where they thought I was having the baby. Nothing I could say would convince them that i wasn't her.
i eventually just gave up

I HATE that. I look nothing like this girl. I mean, in the dark, my skin looks dark because it's not quite white, but I mean, I'm Vanessa William's complexion and she's like Angela Bassett's. At my darkest, I'm Halle Berry's complexion. Not to mention I LOOK NOTHING LIKE HER!!! Our figures are kind of similar, but once she takes off her top, her breasts unfurl like a flag to her knees. Mine don't. I have beautifully kept hands and feet, hers are nasty. My hair is well kept, hers is nappy. I get very insulted that they think I'm her. It ends when I get close, but still...
Re: Getting mistaken for another dancer
This only happened to me once; and I was new and too shy to correct the guy. He was happy and I was happy, so who cares?
You never know, there could be other guys asking your twin for dances from you! I doubt she's turning them down.
Just get your money baby.
Re: Getting mistaken for another dancer
Another dancer I worked with had red hair and pale skin like I do. She was taller though. She told me that when she would go to collect tips, they would say"Didnt I just see you".
Supposedly they thought she was me, but no one had ever asked me If i was her. After that, we would tell customers we were sisters, and try to get double dances. She is pretty so I was not insulted.
Re: Getting mistaken for another dancer
Hey if it works for you and its not doing her any harm, stick to it; until shortly you will be able to gather up enough game of your own. You'll have enough customers remembering you instead of her. Ya know? Its all good though, whatever works. I have a girl at my work where soo many cusomers get us mixed up! The only things we have in common are, we are both really petite and have long spiral curly hair. Thats it. Our faces are soo different. lol. But we dont mind the mix-up; ever since people call her by my name, she is always grabbing me.. in a good way. lol
Re: Getting mistaken for another dancer
The same thing happens to me at my club occasionally. A friend of mine both have similar builds, brown hair and full back tribal tatoos. When a custy goes to thank my friend I politely tell them "No Im Robin, shes over there. Would you like to have both of us at the same time?" It usually works out pretty well for both of us.
Re: Getting mistaken for another dancer
Yea, I sometimes get mistaken for another dancer.......the only thing we have in common is blonde hair, boobs, and we both wear gowns always.........other than that...I'm5inches taller than she is ................
Re: Getting mistaken for another dancer
i briefly worked with a girl who looked so incredibly similar to me, that we were constantly getting mistaken for each other. our bodies, boobs, height, hair... everything, was the same. so we made the most of it and walked around together in matching nurse outfits telling guys we were sisters. we made sooooo much money doing double shows together.

Molly,
I think I've gotten hussled by your twin. She was a petite french canadian blonde "Bianca" something and her African friend....both hussled me together and persuade me to take them both them to the VIP. :-X
Re: Getting mistaken for another dancer
I would just change me look a bit. Not alot but a lil bit . I would want to make my own name for myself.

Yup, that's her I think. Was her friend's name Rene or Belinda? These gals often roam in packs. I don't really get mixed up with her anymore, not being French. It was probably just because I was brand new.
Re: Getting mistaken for another dancer
Yes, her friend name started with "R" or something like that. I thought it was weak of them to stick together really in a pack. Most of the girls were hussling solo and I have more respect for that.
Anyways, both were fake in VIP and eventhough they hinted extras, wasn't interested. All I wanted to do is enjoy sitting with my friend, buying shots and watching. It would help if they could hold a conversation consistently in one language, either french or english, about philosophy or something because their hussle talk was not original and didn't get me going.
blah blah

^^^ Haha, I'm a philosophy major! Come say hi if you're ever in Barbarella's! ;)
