reciprocity, how wondrous
I have to again thank everyone here for the great advice...I feel like a winner at my club these days and it's because of the great business logic from you folks. For instance, tipping at our club- not really a big thing. Most tip the DJ five or ten (all we're required to pay is a flat $25 fee), and some others tip the managers who drive them home...it all seems so vague when I've asked around. Many girls got very cagey when I asked what they tipped, so I've just discreetly observed to get an idea of the norm. Sooo...I am just a generous gal in most respects as it is, and thus I am a big tipper. I tip ten to the DJ (and I ask nothing special of him for stage lighting, smoke, etc), but also ten to the waitress who is kind to me (ie- I don't drink at work, but get coerced into have drinks with customers sometimes because the waitresses hate missing a drink tip...the nice one is the girl who doesn't freak out and not-so-subtly knock my chair when I pass up a shooter...I tip the kind girl who gladly brings me my cranberry juice that at least looks alcoholic to the fellows who like me to drink with them, and sorta sounds it too when I say "a cranberry please").
I also tip the manager/bouncer (it's the same job at our club, meaning there is very little bouncing because they only seldom stroll by the CR)- this is what has paid off for me! Last night one manager came in to the dressing room and said "someone is waiting for you". Some spendy gentleman was asking for a dancer recommendation and the manager introduced me as "the most beautiful dancer here" (not exactly the case, or not obviously the case I wouldn't think). Definitely must of been because I tip the guy. Definitely paid off extremely well, so I left the manager again with a very generous tip.
So, just to reiterate the benefits of 'taking care' of folks at work, especially at a club like mine that has low fees, and no % cut from the dances sold. And my gratitude for the pragmatic wisdom from the clever people around here!

Sounds like things are going well! Good job! I kinda regret not going back in after that manager told me I had too many tattoos :P Well something to keep in mind I guess. I'm glad that you found a good club!
Re: reciprocity, how wondrous
Isn't it amazing. You take care someone, they take care of you
Re: reciprocity, how wondrous
i tell the younger girls this all the time. if you tip decent to well THEY WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU. some girls are so cheap(or shitty hustlers) that they want it all for themselves. my motto is "what will that extra 25 really do for you?" ..... alot; if you take care of others. the entire staff where i work like and respect me because i always take care of those that take care of me. even if i have a bad night i still tip decent. if by some chance i have a horrible night i'm already in the black so they dont mind if i skimp them. glad you posted this.
this doesnt mean that i work in shake down joints that take so much of my money then expect large tips. i WONT work in those places.
Re: reciprocity, how wondrous
I agree... I think the managers at the club have the same mindset as the dancers/waitresses. They take better care of the customers who tip them and the girls. I always tip out the manager at night it really helped me out the other night when I was running late to work and the manager put my name in one of the better slots on the lineup. Some of the other girls get pissed, but I don't really care. It's an investment.
Re: reciprocity, how wondrous
personally, i like to be fair- i got an idea from a poster on here on tipping standards and choose to tip 20% of my money and dole it out evenly among the workers. that way there's no playing favorites or arguing.
Re: reciprocity, how wondrous
Mollyzmoon, well said! I saw this after posting similar advice in the "strippers handbook" section, and this is oftentimes met with grimace from many dancers. One must understand that 'one hand washes the other' and also watches out for the other! Dancers are oftentimes thought of as money grubbing, thoughtless gold diggers; by being a thoughtful person (dancer) will set you apart. If all join in and do their part 'outsiders' will also have a more favorable view of our industry as a whole...because we are for the most part kind, intelligent, thoughtful people...so act as such in a work environment.
