Re: How Do you ladies get out of a slump?
I never go to work if I dont feel like going. When I do force myself to go in my mood is altered and I never make money. Happened Thurs night. Sun, Mon and Wed I was psyched to go to work and had a great attitude and made good money planning on working Thurs. But when Thurs rolled around I didnt want to go and it showed....
If Im in a bad mood bouncers and management can tell. I usually just go up to the manager and say "Look, Im in a bad mood and really need to go home. Theres no point in my being here when all Im going to do is make the club look bad".... I guess what you say and how you say stuff to a manager depends on your leverage at the club....
One time I was in a horrible mood and the manager wouldnt let me leave so I told him "Either you let me go home and come back another day when Im in a better mood or I will just walk out and quit and not come back" well, he let me go home... but if you are worried about losing your job that probably isnt the best line to give management.
I dunno, I never stay at work in a bad mood. If they somehow are able to make me stay (which is rare) I end up sulking and smoking all night... I can never get my mood better... Im a spoiled brat that always gets her way...lol.. thats probably why my lines work.. they know theres no point in making me stay...
But honestly... The other night my girlfriend was in an altered mood and not making money.. wanting to go home. I told her to go ask everyone in the club for a dance and if she could NOT get 2 dances then go home. If she COULD get the dancer to do it again... try for 2 more dances... she ended up staying all night and getting into a better mood because she was making money... I really should follow my own advice... but like they say "When you cant DO, teach..." lol
Re: How Do you ladies get out of a slump?
If I'm really not feeling it I usually don't go to work. The few times I have generally turned out bad because I didn't want to be there in the first place.
If I'm at work and not getting dances for a bit, I'll just go in the dressing room and take a lil break - not sit and bitch about how crappy it is, but just to relax, regroup, and avoid looking UNbusy and UNpopular to the guys. Joke around with someone in the dressing room to get my mood up. Then go back and try again. Hit up every dude who doesn't have a girl on his lap and keep trying until I get a yes. Then once I get a yes I can usually keep rolling because it only takes one yes to give my mood a boost.
Re: How Do you ladies get out of a slump?
If you don't feel like it, don't go. But that's up to you.
Sometimes you can turn a bad shift around. If you have a good friend of yours at work, use them to put you in good spirits. A friendly, happy, smiling face often makes it hard for you to be in a bad mood. Also wear bright clothes. I have this amazing neon outfit and I sometimes wear it if I'm at work on days when I'm not at my best. It's a talking point for some men and I try to make my mood match the colours (i.e. I try to be in a ''bright'' mood, lol). Sounds dumb, but it often works!!
I have a friend I work with who is one heck of a sexy dancer and an amazing hustler (prob the best in the club I'm currently at). She's a very discreet worker but that's because you never see her, she's always dancing in the private rooms. She sets targets for me just like her own and we have friendly competitions to see who gets the most dances every 1/2 hour or so. It forces me to work but also allows me to get a giggle because we talk about it inbetween. Maybe you should do something similar to inject a bit of fun into your night.
If you're tired, have a red bull or relax in the changing room for a bit. Don't mope on the floor. Guys get a bad vibe out of a moper.
Re: How Do you ladies get out of a slump?
When I worked in a traditional SC I would take a break in the back and just read, listen to a song or 2 on my mini disc player, have a red bull, take a mini nap...wtvr it was to relax me and see the rest of the hours there.
But, if I was away from work (I kinda have no choice now) I would not go in and just pay a little extra to work the next night. Rent would roll over to the next time you worked.
Re: How Do you ladies get out of a slump?
Before working:
Try listening to music that will put you in the mood on the way to work. Also anchors work well. I'm almost never in the the mood to go to work but when I'm at the stop light before I make the U turn into the club, I pull the back of my hair at the root to "get" me into character. So when I walk in the club I'm feeling sexy and on uptime. ( And not the usual boring introvert..hehe)
Yep, I sound like a freak but it works.
Re: How Do you ladies get out of a slump?
The music tip is excellent, I always listen to music that gets me going before work, even dance to it at the club. Top Tip!
Re: How Do you ladies get out of a slump?
I always treat myself to getting my hair and make-up done (at work) and going for a starbucks run on my way to work.... all are things I try to "treat" myself to but not make an everyday thing... I find when I feel pampered I make tons of money!
;D ;D ;D
Re: How Do you ladies get out of a slump?
Another idea is to seat certain benchmarks that will give you rewards on a nightly basis. Things that will challenge you a bit but are attainable. For example, a $250.00 night will reward you with a pedicure. A $350.00 rewards you with a massage the next day. etc. etc. This way you an focus more on the end result rather than the stress. If you REALLY want to motivate yourself, pick your bechmark and reward and actually make an appointment for the reward and promise yourself that if you don't make the benchmark, you have to cancel the appointment. This will make you feel a bit more accountable to yourself. Start off small. Create small rewards at first and then start bumping up the bar a little each week. This might help make this a bit more fun for you again.
Re: How Do you ladies get out of a slump?
Wow DW, that was great I'm going to try it tommorrow
Re: How Do you ladies get out of a slump?
I am in a slump right now and can't call off without getting fined. I think it best not to go in if you aren't feeling in the mood but it would cost me so I can't:'(
Re: How Do you ladies get out of a slump?
Since you have been absent for a long time, give yourself a few weeks to earn what you were used to earning. I, too, took about 4 weeks off and when I returned, I had forgotten how to ask for dance! Basically, I was out of practice. Allow the next 2-3 weeks be "practice" for you. If you earn $50/shift, call it a good learning experience. You will get your game back soon enough.
I do not recommend taking more time off. You have to get back in the swing of things. Cut yourself some slack though and do not worry about money for now. Remember, you are out of practice and it might take a few weeks to earn good money.
Re: How Do you ladies get out of a slump?
Thanks again DW, I used your advice and was so excited about wanting to get these 2 books for Barnes and Noble ( that was my bench mark) that I made double my goal for a money which is $350 and ended up walking out with $740! I can't wait to take your seminar.....
Re: How Do you ladies get out of a slump?
If the money is available, get a mani/pedi, have your hair done, get a luxurious massage and buy some new clothes. You will feel so fabulous and men will fall all over the place that you'll think, "Man, if these guys were in the club, I'd be making a mint..." then go to work and MAKE THAT MONEY!!!

I'm glad I helped. Remember though, don't make "goals", set "plans" instead. Big difference and it gets different results. I can't wait to hear the night you break $1K!!!!!
Re: How Do you ladies get out of a slump?
DW I used your suggestion about rewards tonight and I made 125 more than my goal for my reward! When is your book coming out?

A better way of saying that is:
I used your suggestion about rewards tonight and I made 125 more than I planned for my reward!
I agree with DW. You can never be disappointed with plans whereas you can with goals.
First of all be patient with yourself. You are re-learning "the game" so it may take time. Listen to your favourite tunes, read motivational books, laugh. Remember what you enjoy about work. Remember what your plans are... visualise them as if they have already happened. Look at photos that will bring a smile to your face (for me it is photos of my cat).
;D
Re: How Do you ladies get out of a slump?
I tend to agree with Julia Child on the thought of "getting back in the swing of things"...I am in this 'slump' mood too; and sometimes setting a goal relating directly to money doesn't work for me...The music idea is great (listening to upbeat fav tune on the drive/ride in) and goofing with your co-workers if possible is cool too...I try to keep focus on happy things and looking busy in the club..."worry" about the $$$ later, be patient with yourself and keep the mood up as best as possible throught the nite.
Re: How Do you ladies get out of a slump?
I have noticed with myself, that when I am away from a club for a while, when I return the first night is pretty much useless. Most of the night is spent "catching up" with the staff and dancers, and I don't get much work done. If I really need cash fast I go to a brand new club where I don't know anyone, so I am forced to hustle hard to make the money, and no one is trying for my attention "socially".
You'll get back into it by your next shift, and you'll make great money again!
Re: How Do you ladies get out of a slump?
When I come back after being gone forever., I just take it all SLOW. I take my time getting ready instead of rushing in and on the floor.
I'll stick with an outfit I made money in verses buying new garb. Or I'll come in an hour or two earlier then usual and get that first set out of the way .
Come on a scheduled day off to just get back in the groove
I took 2 years off...talk about a rough first night
