Breast Implants vs. Breast Lift?
I've always had big boobs. I'm 4'9" and 112lbs. Boob size is 34DD. I just had a baby 9 months ago. I breastfed and now that I stopped, my boobs kinda hang a little low. I was always known at the club as the little girl with the big boobs. They were my best FEATURE!!! Now, they don't look as good. They are still 34 DD but they just hang low and have stretch marks. I'm maybe thinking of getting some work done on them but I don't know whats better? A friend of mine said I can get implants to make them look fuller. And I did some research on getting a lift but it seems like they get smaller. Anyone have any info?
Re: Breast Implants vs. Breast Lift?
Instead of doing either, why don't you do chest exercises at the gym. That will tone up the pec muscles under your boobs, and cause it to naturally lift. You got nice, big boobies like me. If you are gonna go as drastic as getting augmentation or a lift, at least wait until your older...when they REALLY start to sag.

CK
Re: Breast Implants vs. Breast Lift?
Yeah put every effort in to perk them up naturally before you go under the knife! I saw footage of a breast-lift operation once... having your areolas & nipples cut out and sewn back on is not something to take lightly! Plus, if you plan on having any more children in the future, you may not be able to breastfeed.
Re: Breast Implants vs. Breast Lift?
Okay, So what are some good exercises? I always thought if you do a lot of chest exercises it makes your breasts smaller. Do you guys know of any?
Re: Breast Implants vs. Breast Lift?
it does make them smaller...at least it did for me
Re: Breast Implants vs. Breast Lift?
i heard that you get more scars with a lift then you do implants
i would just try too tone then up a bit .. you might loose some boob but at least its not going too cost ya thousands and it will help ;)
Re: Breast Implants vs. Breast Lift?
agreed that lift surgery creates more scars.
Re: Breast Implants vs. Breast Lift?
This is why I keep flopping (no pun intended here) back and forth.. Melonie, and maybe you can shed some light on this because the main reason why I haven't gotten mine done is that I have seen "rippling" and I also heard that you have to get them replaced every so often... is that true? I suppose I should just ask a doctor, but with my recent weight loss, I'm trying to decide if I should invest 4500k in a boob job or do a lift and let them drop again in ten or so years.. I just dont' want that ripple look and I definitely dont' want to be spending mass amounts of money every 5-7 years...
Re: Breast Implants vs. Breast Lift?
Even with implants they will drop (droop) eventually...
Re: Breast Implants vs. Breast Lift?
I need to bump this thread, as I am about go under the knife for lift surgery. I've talked to 3 surgeons and they all agree that implants alone will not be sufficient. I do droop some and my nipples are on the large side, but they don't seem to droop that much. Even if I went much larger (which I want anyways) they are telling me I will get "snoopy nose." I am at a "stage 2 pstosis." No kids, just used to be fat and lost 50 pounds. It's expensive and I just want implants but I am told this is impossible. Any thoughts? Can I go big enough to not need the lift?

That link explains the difference pretty well. I knew someone who got a lift and implants after having children, and I thought her boobs looked great but she had vertical scarring. The scarring usually fades a lot over time though.

Yes, with implants they will drop but I've had a lift for over a year now and they're still very perky.
I've dermarolled the shit out of my scar. I'd stay get a lift (no implants) and learn how to dermaroll :)
Re: Breast Implants vs. Breast Lift?
Update: I had my lift a month ago and love it!!! I will post some before and after pictures. Just wanted to let everyone know the scarring is not that bad, its only been a month and the only noticeable ones are the thin vertical lines that sit below the nipples. To me, its a great trade-off. Saggy boobs with very large unattractive areolas or a couple of small scars? Now I am free to get an aug. Also, my breasts are larger and fuller than before. They are not smaller. In a perfect world I wish I had not needed a lift but I didn't want a bad aug. I am using special scar treatment prescribed by my doctor but they already look great!
Re: Breast Implants vs. Breast Lift?
As with everything in medicine - especially cosmetic surgery! - the answer depends on a lot of things. I almost always recommend an implant as well as a lift. They do tend to fill out the breast and enhance the shape. I find this to be especially true for women who have large breasts before having children, and then lose a lot of volume after childbirth. As a general rule of thumb, for patients who only have a small amount of ptosis (aka sag), I recommend an implant only at first, see how she likes the results, and then perform a lift 6 months later if she still wants more perkiness. For women with very saggy breasts who will definitely need a lift I recommend a lift first followed by augmentation 6 months later, or both procedures at the same time. Different surgeons have different opinions on how to go about this - I would get multiple opinions, evaluate the cost of each, etc. Breast lifts are where the true "art" of cosmetic surgery comes into play.

Do you have a website or something? I googled your name but I couldn't find a plastic surgeon named Tom Kazansky.
Re: Breast Implants vs. Breast Lift?
Tom Kazansky is a stage name for this site, so to speak. I borrowed it from a "cool" character in a classic 80's movie...

I think that depends on genetics TBH. Some girls are eternally stuck with the bolt on look.
