Ever heard of this?
I'm a newbie. I danced for the first time this past Tuesday. I LOVED IT! The VIP guy was impressed at how well I did my first night.
Lots of girls at my club get the guys to buy them outfits and stuff. They exchange phone #'s with customers. Customers call them, and they call their customers when they are on their way into the club and such.
I got to thinking about things...this is a business right? Then I will treat it like one!
I went home, registared a domain name and built a simple website with flash. It has a link to a calendar that shows the days I work; a link to my amazon wish list (so they can buy me stuff) and a link to submitte a message to me as well as a few pics lightly embedded into the background.
I made business cards with the website and my email address (no phone number yet)
The business cards and the site have a common theme and tagline. I plan to start giving them out tonight.
Is this too over the top? Smart? Stupid? Too soon? Have you ever heard of anyone doing anything like this before? thoughts, ideas?

Re: Ever heard of this?
I think its a great idea. Alot of my clubs business is from the website. As for your personal schedule listings, wishlist and business cards...those are all great ideas to me. As long as you dont have any personal information listed I think itll turn out great. Also, I think its a great way to build regulars...that way they can see your schedule and see you instead of coming in on random days and not seeing you.
I wish I could just make a simple website by myself!

Re: Ever heard of this?
This is a great idea, but don't let these custies find out too much about you. Don't let them see your car or find out where you live.
I got busted for handing out my cards once (the club was pissed off I was drawing business away from them for myself, hah) so either check with management or do it on the down-low, whichever works better.

Re: Ever heard of this?
Make sure you have the domain registered wit hthe extra privacy feature.
Other than that, I'd say way to be on top of things and professional.
-
Re: Ever heard of this?
Yep, I only paid $1.99 for the domain, but paid the extra $9 to keep my info private (no one can search my personal info in the whois database).
I am not trying to take customers away from the club, I am actually trying to bring the club more business as I dont intend (at this point) to meet anyone out side of the club. I also have a link to the clubs website on my website.
I went way out of my way to ensure that Sarah Stown and the real me can not be connected in any way. I also paid $20 for a membership to so that when I read and send emails they can not be traced to my IP address (which could be traced to me for a price).
Honestly. I am most nervous about pissing the other girls off. I guess the way to avoid that is to be friendly to everyone. I dont talk about any of my personal life at work with the other girls and try to keep to myself.
I have also thought of approaching the club manager directly, let him know about the site and its intent. I am sure it wont be an issue...but ya never know. Also, in case any of the girls try to tell him miss information...he heard it correctly from me first.

Re: Ever heard of this?
are you sure you are a dancer instead of a network engineer?
-
Re: Ever heard of this?
I think it is an awesome idea and I hope you do not mid if I steal it from you. hehehe
Like Tigers said, it could be a great way to make regulars, and keep them which can always pose a pronblem for some girls, me being one of them. It seems lke after about three months, thats it, I never see em again. Just a few have stuck around a long time and I hardley ever see them any more. It is just few and far between.
Anyway, It is deffinitly a great idea. Since you are new to the club, I would definitly ask management it they would allow you to do this sort of thing. I probably wont say anything to my manager but have been there for years and know she wont care. It is a very laid back club.

Re: Ever heard of this?
Good idea. Don't ask management. Just be discreet in handing over the cards. Don't tell anyone at work you're doing it.
It IS a good idea to check local laws to make sure that type of thing won't get you charged with soliciting or such, to be safe. As long as it's not illegal in your area, you're good.
Keep your business to yourself and you'll do fine ;)

Re: Ever heard of this?
For an interesting take on this google "Tampa strip club dancer" I would imagine she is on here too but I don't know for sure.

Re: Ever heard of this?
Well, tonight being Friday (busy and all)....I never had a good chance to tell the manager.
Ladies, please, feel free to copy this idea. I think it is wonderful!
No, I am not a network admin, but truth be told, it was the bf who created the web site for me. He is the tatoo'd geek ;)
Here are some othe random thoughts close friends have told me.
-create a sexy blog.
-tonight a customer told me I should get a web cam and walk around naked...lol (and get the other strippers involved and their own cams ect...)
-create a customer of the month (Joe from Nowhere, PA) this will get the competative side of guys and make them want to try harder to be customer of the week.
-I am too tired to think of any the rest right now. I will keep you posted
On another, unrelated note, tonight being my second night ....it was totally different than my first night. As I sorta expected. More ppl in the club, a ton more dancers. Made ok $...stayed later than planned.
I SAW MY UNCLE! I know it happens, running into someone you know in the club.
BUT MY UNCLE?!? ON MY SECOND NIGHT?!
1. he is uncle by marrage. It is my fathers, sisters, husband.
2. I made more $ off of him tonight than any other customer.
3. I am going to go puke now and hope that I dont remember tomorrow.

Re: Ever heard of this?
I have a website and my manager's love it. I've brought in multiple well paying customers from my website. Mine features a work blog, some semi nude pictures, an IM name I get on about two hours a day to chat, work calendar, mailing list, so on and so on.
The only thing I would think twice about is a Customer Of The Montht hing... Might be different in yoru case, but most customers I know like to remain somewhat anonymous. They don't want their family or work to know things they are signed up with. My mailing list has an option where they can choose not to be sent emails, only to check them on the web, and a LOT of them prefer that.

Re: Ever heard of this?
Helle's right. There is a point where dancers cross the line into the personal lives of their customers where their actions become inappropriate. Think of it from this perspective. You name a "customer of the month" and they guy doesn't want to be that. Now you've made it public anyway though. A friend, family member, etc. happens to come into the club and see that and then calls the guy's wife. Now you've wrecked a marriage, opened the club up to potential lawsuit, and guaranteed that you will never see this guy, or anyone he knows within earshot ever again in that club. It's one thing to respond to an email when a customer sends you one first, but sending him emails or phone calls also may cross that line. You don't know if the email is going through his corporate office screening. Now the guy's boss is seeing he's getting emails from exotic dancers in his in-box. Next he's looking for a new job and you're looking for a new customer. See how this can go sometimes?

Re: Ever heard of this?
1. I totally agree, I would never send an email or call a customer unless they contacted me first or asked me to contact them. A customer gave me his business card the other day. It had a company email address on it. I asked him if it was ok to send emails to that address. He encouraged it, just said no attachments. When I put his info in my address book, I noted no attachments so that I wouldn't forget...not that I would ever send attachments.
2. Customer of the month would just be "John-Nowhere, PA" no last name. no pic or anything. and of coarse, I would never do it with out their permission.
Like I said, these are just ideas....ideas that have not been thought out yet. Thanks for the input!

Re: Ever heard of this?
I second what Pan Dah said. Also, if all you're giving out is a name and a place, what would be the point anyway..?
-
Re: Ever heard of this?
I think that you're off to a great start to this business. Good luck!

Re: Ever heard of this?
I have the same thing. What is your site? I would love to see it and get some ideas!
