So I start Thursday... Maybe.
:-*
**I just wanted to say thank you to everyone here on this site, reading, posting and responding has really helped me alot with my very much wanted career change. Thank you again ladies, don't know what I'd do without you.**
I am scared shitless. :O
So I finally got the balls (or something like a female verison) and called back the owner of a club that had called me last week. He orginally was looking for girls (or actors) to hire for a reality TV show, but when I mentioned that I was more interested in a perment job, he was more than delighted to give me directions.
Tony, is his name.
So tonight I drove up 25 miles to meet with him, and fill out the application. (Mind you, I've never been in a SC in my life, EVER. State law in Florida is 21.
Getting there was easy enough at night, it's almost (really) in the middle of nowhere. There was some drama in the dressing room /:O (which was big and had lockers, but didn't look like anyone was using them) with these two girls yelling, in Spainish, so I really had no idea what they were talking about, and Tony kept leaving me in the "office".
I looked over the "rules" of the club for dancers while filling out the application, but he would pop in and ask me a random question and then leave, throwing me off a bit. I was so nervous I could feel my heart beating in my ears. /:O I always get nervous like this, and I don't know why. Tony seemed nice enough and eager to work with me and my hours. (But who knows if that will change.)
Thursday I am supossed to start, but I'm to call him tomorrow and talk to my other job to make sure I can have a 'set' schedulehe. He said I am to come in next Thursday ready to go, and only mentioned briefly about "You'll need shoes, 6"... theres a place on Oakland..." and then about attire "You can were short dress like you saw Goddess wear..." But that was it. (Another girl had come in and her took her picture to give to the bartender, so they know who's under 21).
It's only topless he explained, and I am to be covered downstairs at all times. Thursday, he said, "That's the day I''ll give my 'talk' and make sure you undersand the rules-- and let you know how I run the club and how to get the guys to loosen thier pockets." Rules were mostly about how there is no solicitation to customers and no drinking on the job, and a big part about getting costumers to buy drinks and getting comission off them. I signed something that said I am "renting space" a the the clubs address, so I guess I'm not really an employee? How am I supossed to claim this on my taxes? I'm too much of an honest gal to not claim.
Anyway, any help any of you great gals would have for me would be fine. I'm going tomorrow to find shoes (size 5, hopefully, I have small feet). Also, I know there have probably been threads about this before, but what should I bring along if I am to start on Thursday, outfit suggestions and where the hell do I keep the money I make? Should I change when I get there or pretty much be ready to work makeup and all?
Alot of the other girls seemed unkept and really young, should I be worried? :boggled:
Re: So I start Thursday... Maybe.
Congrats on the new job,and good for havingthe nerve to get thru the interview ;-)
I remember when I was talking to my first manager, I think my hands were shaking and I could barely read the rules or focus on what he was telling me...ok he had a really heavy accent which probably didnt help lol.
AS for the drama..its going to happen now and then, my advice is just to be polite and friendly but to keep mostly to yourself for now to you get an idea how everything works...in other words keep your eyes open, no need to tell everyone too much personal info at first.
Im not from your area, but it sounds like you are an independent contractor, and not an employee at all....theres lots of stuff on this is dollar den. AS for paying taxes, I think thats a good idea, Im to damn scared of being audited and fined etc ..so I make sure to pay mine.
Dont let the guys push you to break rules or personal boundaries ..some will try, some are nice some mean just depends, and remember u will get many times more nos than yeses when u ask them to buy a dance..dont take the nos personaly (easier said than done )lol
Set a good impression that you are new but have a professional approach by being on time and as prepared as possible. there are a couple good threads on what to wear bring etc.
Best of luck
Nicole
