I couldn't find an old thread in archives about stripper/exotic dancer shoes, quality, and sizing peculiarities? What are the best brands you typically wear - Ellie? Jante? Tony? Do you typically go up a half size or down?

I am a fan of the Ellie shoes as they generally have a nice, padded suede insole. I am not particularly hard on shoes and have not had many pairs break on me of any brand, so I'm probably not the best to ask about durability. I also find Ellies to run true to size; I am a 9 and I buy a 9 in them (and most other shoes).
I really miss a brand called Else Anita; I'm not sure if they are still around, but they were beautiful, well-made, and durable.
I usually buy Sunset Strip shoes- they last, they have good customer service (they actually have a warranty!), and the fit is better for my foot. A bit pricier, but they last way longer for me. I'm pretty tough on my shoes though.
all the brands I've tried are pretty comfortable, but stay away from shoes that have little tiny straps that don't really hold your foot in like this http://www.snaz75.com/el-673-sexy.html because they are so hard to walk in.
if it's got a lot of that see-through plastic on the upper, you might want to go a little bigger because those are tight and what will happen is that your foot will stretch it out and you'll get the dreaded claw-toe.
^^^I second this. The shoes I got were strapless (so I could take them on/off easier when I change because I am a big idiot klutz who rips her costumes between stage songs when changing in shoes too fast) but had plenty of plastic to keep them secure...or so I thought! Two months in I'd stretched them so much they kept slipping off on stage. Straps are a good idea- and plastic makes you sweat more.
Ellie's can vary- I have 1 pair I hate and another I love.
I frequently see Wild Rose brand shoes on the West coast....I like them and the price is nice.
1 pair Highest Heel 8 inch boots.
Tony Shoes are nice and I heard there's a warranty from Tony himself.
Delicious are cheapie starter shoes.
what?! I had broken so many diff pairs of tony shoes- my fav tony's were these

these broke in sooo many diff ways :*( but soo beautiful :( (1 month)

had these in black and the top strap broke - i tried to mend it then the bottom strap broke. :(
I had a version of tony's like these that gave me a rash on my foot cuz im allergic to metal ughh eventually the bottom strap broke i was happy to scrap them (2 months)

these were a version i had but they were spikes, they were great till all the spikes fell off (one month) I could get them fixed but the spikes will fall off again anyway

i had these for 2 months then mad rhinestones fell out and the plastic wore out- my shoes almost went FLYING one night.

i found that these are the best- classic - not expensive, match with everything, easy to dance/walk in, duurabllle, and they are SNUG on my foot= i am real ROUGH. just a bit BLAH boring and plain.

had them for 5 months now= and now they smell like bandaids= ugh...
i prefer pleaser. they run pretty true to size, maybe a half-size smaller to allow for when they stretch. i'm an 8-8.5 and i get 8s.
i've bought one pair of tonys and they broke within a week. same with luscious (made by pleaser, but i swear they are made cheaper. i think they are actually cheaper to buy too.) tonys were narrower than pleaser but true to size. got 8's in those too. my toes hung over more in tonys. yuck.
for how much shoes cost, none last long enough. but i'm a little rough on them. pleaser all the way though.
and here's a thread i started a while ago...

I'm a Pleaser fan, too. For some reason the arch/width fits my foot better then other popular brands (Tony/Ellie/etc.) They're true to size and also seem to last me forever.
I've worn ellie for years and I've yet to find anything better for my feet. They last a good few months and the sizing is accurate. They are the most cushioned I've ever bought too.
I hate how all these shoes are true-to-size and yet for the most part they don't make half sizes. I am a firm 9.5. 10s slide around and 9s have my toe peeking out at the end. I don't know what to do! >:(
All my shoes except for some boots have been Pleaser. I bought two pairs of Ellies and both times they broke after about a month. A lot of people love Ellies so I don't know what the problem is, but I will never buy them again. I did have one pair of Pleasers that pissed me off, but other than that, love them.
And I wear between 6"-7" always with an ankle strap.
I only buy Pleaser have never had any of them break! I am a size 8.5 or 9 and for open toe shoes in Pleaser I always get an 8, and for boots a size 9 works great for me.
Luscious are awful. Mine broke in a week.
Pleasers are pretty good. I'm about a 10.5 in regular shoes so I get 10s in most shoes as they stretch and 11s in boots since it's comfier and I wear socks.
(yes I have sasquatch feet :( )
I love Pleaser and Tony. I've had Luscious shoes, and they were great. Then again I have a ridiculous amount of stripper shoes, so I never wore them more than once every other week when I was dancing.
>:( I hate Ellie's with a passion now. I bought a newish pair of boots from another girl (emergency, on the road) & they started falling apart in 2 days. Wouldn't you know, a tiny Ellie's label was on the inside of the boots....Grrr!
I have the same style pair from The Highest Heel I bought in 2003...they're still useable.
Well... I have pretty thin feet, and I found Pleasers to be a little too wide for my taste. They always seem too big or too loose. When I do buy pleaser I buy them one size smaller than I normally would (I am a 6, so I buy a pleasers size 5). Ellies always seemed a bit more narrow which I like, but that isn't everyones cup of tea.
In terms of quality... I would say both Ellies and pleasers are similar. I've never had shoes fall apart (knock on wood). I like them both just fine....
My favorite shoe (just for aesthetic reasons).... Tony's. They are so pretty... maybe it's the heel to platform ratio or something. Tony's tend to run true to my size 6=6.
I love Ellies, but Pleaser has my business right now. Prettier shoes. Bigger variety.
Yes SundayMorning!!! I was just going to post about this, as it has been driving me crazy. I have only worn Pleasers, but havent found any other company that makes half-sizes either, and I'm a firm 9.5 too.
I have a couple pairs of Pleasers with an open-toe, like the Kiss model, that are a 9, I have longish toes and get hang-over.
I have a pair of Pleaser knee-high boots (closed-toe) in a 10 and they are too big!
I really want to get some of their Mary Janes, closed toe, with the Dorsay heel. But I dont know what to do!
Has anyone had better luck with Jante?? I'm eyeing a pair of their maryjanes right now.
I also usually order from Snaz 75, and really dont want to pay return shipping, re-stocking fees, or deal with their (last time I checked) hellish return policy again. :-\
I FEEL YOUR PAIN! I have size 10.5 - 11 too. I actually find it way easier to find dancing shoes than regular shoes though....they make a lot of dancing shoes in pretty big sizes...some of them even come in like 12 or 13 because drag queens wear them....I also find I can easily wear a 10 in most dancer shoes because they stretch out and it's ok if my toes are right at the end.....but finding regular shoes is a NIGHTMARE. I've cried shoe shopping before.
FYI: Luscious and Demonia are made by Pleaser.
Ellies seem to be really wide for me. Every time I try them on, they are just way too loose, and I have wide feet! In normal shoes I need a 7.5 Wide, but even 7s in Ellie are too loose for me.
I always wear 7s in stripper shoes because 8s are too long and too loose - the plastic stretches as you wear them so an 8 will slide right off my foot after a few days.
I like Tony Shoes, Karo Shoes, Pleaser Shoes and Highest Heel. I have worn many pairs of each brand and they all seem to be pretty much the same in sizes. Quality on these is good.
I don't like Jante, Sunset Strip because they are cheaply made and the soles are that slick plastic shit that is dangerous on stage.
i wear 10's in pleasers. i love them so much (the standard black 6 inch spike heel with plastic top, no ankle strap) i call them my old trusties!!
:) i swear by pleaser. jante's always last ONE wear on me then break. but... then some girls i work with wear jante for months. i dance very hard. very aggressively on my shoes, so if you do too, i suggest pleasers. they are good for a narrow foot too!
Elle works for me. My trademark is thighhigh fetish boots in black. The only problem I have ever had with them is the zippers tend to shred socks and get to where they don't zip smoothly after about 2 months. I have tried every brand of boots going and I have found Demonia to be the most expensive, pretty but not worth the money. Pleaser is too stiff no matter what you do to them to work a pole in. Elle brand is great.
