I'm thinking about signing up to be a Big... Not dancing now, but probably will be in the future. Any advice on how to handle this as far as application/interview goes? I'm usually a student and dancing is just a part-time thing.

I had a big sister and it was really good for me. But make sure you can keep it up for 3 years at least. I remember crying so much when my big sister got married and 'dumped' me. We only were 'together' for 11 months. ;-(
Aww girl I feel your pain :'( I too had a big sister ( 2 actually) The first one was with me for a little over a year. Then we slowly drifted apart (she was not as available) and then she packed up and moved to Detroit. She was soooooo beautiful. I wanted to be just like her. She really was an inspiration.Quote:

For those who don't know, Big Bros Big Sis gives you free tickets to different events like the opera, symphony, ballet, etc. Basically different events from what you aren't used to. Well anyway, I ask her about it..I'm like, "hey don't you think it's weird that we never got any offers to the ballet, or plays" This heffa tells me, " oh..girl I ain't think you would wanna go to no stuff like that. I know I don't."
Anyway back to the subject: MSG whatever you do..please take 242's advice. There is nothing worse in life than to have a Big Sis to just up and leave you. If you want her..really really really make that committment to her. You are someone that has the opportunity to hopefully change her life for the better.
The interview focuses on your backround and values. A good candidate should in good mental health, not have a criminal record, and be available, consistent, and committed to an assigned child.
A friend of mine has been a big brother for over 10 years! I really want to be a big sister. However, I'm an entertainer. I'm afraid BB/BS would run me out of the office with a shotgun. Do you know if my job automatically excludes me?
That's what I'm worried about - being run out of their office. So I'm thinking maybe it would be better to not mention the fact that I have been an entertainer in the past?
The commitment thing won't be a problem as long as I pass the interview!
Just don't say anything if you can "leave the club at the club". My friend J was a Big Brother and no one asked him during the application process whether he WENT to stripclubs...(which he did)...
There's too many kids who need guidance....don't blackball yourself. Famous movie stars with famous nude scenes keep showing up when Make-A-Wish asks them to visit sick kids in the hospital.....(Angelina Jolie's recent charity hospital visit was fun to read about...bet that kid had some improved blood flow after that.....LOL)
