Oddest song you have danced to
Ok got this thread from a previous post about dancing to Beatles from Yekhefah...
What is the weirdest song you have danced to and it actually worked for you..
at the last club I worked at a girl came in and handed me a cd and told me which song to play for her...
I about killed over...The Rolling Stones - Gimme Shelter was the song...
When It started playing and I realized what song it was I about flipped out...But she came out and did a GREAT job....
The crowd loved it and she got lotsa tips and compliments from the custies and the other dancers....The next week alot of the girls had similar requests...
It was great...
So what is your song story??

Re: Oddest song you have danced to
Oh and the song I never got to see anyone dance to that I would love to see...
Jean Knight - Mr Big Stuff....
I think it would be cool...Good beat....Never could talk any of the ladies into it....

Re: Oddest song you have danced to
How on earth are these weird songs to dance to? The Beatles and the Stones? I've danced to them tons and heard plenty of other dancers do so. Next you'll be telling me it's shocking when someone pulls out Hendrix or Zepplin. Oldies hardly qualify as strange.
Here's some for you:
Thinking Fellers Union Local 282 "Hurricane"
The Grifters "Black Fuel Incinerator"
The Flaming Lips "Hit Me Like You Did the First Time"
Railroad Jerk "We Understand"
Pavement "Cream of Gold"
Fugazi "Repeater"
The Oblivians "Milkshake"
I remember reading a fanzine interview where Barbara Manning talked about auditioning for a stripping job and dancing to Wire's "Fly in the Ointment."
One day I will fulfill my fantasy of stripping to "Mother Sky" by Can. And I have always fantasized about stripping to Jandek as that would be so, so wrong.
I worked with one girl who danced to Chrome.
And I intensely look forward to Veronika's replies to this thread . . .

Re: Oddest song you have danced to
Ohhhhh!!!!!!!
I want to dance to Fugazi but will be doing pinko-emo contortions, which will kill the sex vibe.
I have played Trotsky Icepick, which no one understood, and played "Virginia Plain" by Roxy Music to punish jerk-ass custies.

Re: Oddest song you have danced to
k, once I was fooling around with Soundforge, and I thought the vocals in the song 'Common People' by Pulp were too loud. So I lowered them, and decided to use the song in a schoolgirl set.
I burned it and didn't listen to it, and once I got on stage, I found that it was JUST the background music! No vocals. Man that was tough to dance to!

Re: Oddest song you have danced to
I danced to "A Fifth of Beethoven" once. Beethoven's 5th Symphony set to a disco background. I accidentally told the DJ the wrong track number and that's the one that came up, so I just had to go with it. I did surprisingly well.
A girl the other night danced to the ska song "Date Rape." Apparently I was the only one surprised by that, but I would NEVER dance to that song. Date Rape does not make me feel very sexy and the song is just too damn fast!
-
Re: Oddest song you have danced to
The DJ thought he was playing with me, but I danced to it anyway and had fun with it. "C is for Cookie" by Cookie Monster from Sesame Street...it was right after my BA.
<<<can't believe I admitted this on a public forum, lol>>>

Re: Oddest song you have danced to
i once had a girl come in and aske me to dance to the mighty mouse theme song " said she has always wanted to see a stripper dance to it... it was only like 30 seconds but my god i felt like a fool i didnt know what to do
i was even more suprised that the dj actually had it but she tipped me like 20 dollars and all her friends tipped decent too
strange people out there

Re: Oddest song you have danced to
Oh yeah, I danced to Harley Davidson by Brigitte Bardot once. Not very sexy, it's got this jingle jangley sixties beat.

Re: Oddest song you have danced to
The Team America World Police sountrack.
-
Re: Oddest song you have danced to
lol- America- fuck yeah!
There was a girl I worked with once who would dance to some god awful song about how America was gonna kick Iraq's ass (one especially retarded lyric: "and the statue of liberty will be shakin' her fist"). Anyways, I always think of her when I hear that Team America song.

I had a customer request "The Humpty Dance" for me...well, it was more like a bet that I wouldn't do it. I won. And, oh yes, I did indeed DO the Humpty Dance. :)
Oddest songs I would LIKE to dance to: "DQ Blizzard" and "Fett's Vette" by MC Chris.
-
Re: Oddest song you have danced to
Jumblies- I've played "Fett's Vette" before. Also "Geek" and "White Kids Love Hip Hop". Never during primetime, but it was fun. And for awhile there after the movie came out I was fond of playing "Pearl Harbor Sucked (And I Miss You)" from Team America as the "okay go home now" end-of-the night song.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one but at least she got to choose that for herself! Got another one...during a big party at one of my clubs we did the chicken dance onstage. Funny...I hate that at weddings but it was totally fun in a thong!

Re: Oddest song you have danced to
This reminds me... though I am sure I have mentioned it before (recently, even):
A chum of mine at my last club used to make outstanding money dancing to "SPAM" by Save Ferris, of all things...
(Makes me wonder if I should have just gone for broke and whipped out the Monty Python!)

Re: Oddest song you have danced to
Today for my audition (which I passed! Yay meeeeeeeee!! :thanx:!) I danced to "Reptile" by NIN. Believe it or not I had every guy in the room enthralled. ;D
I'm planning to bring in my own mixes. These will include the Muppets version of "Wild Thing" . . . and other items of whimsy . . .

Re: Oddest song you have danced to
The Time Warp
That Grease megamix thing....
Everyone Else Has Had More Sex Than Me from this lil video.
Dragostea Din Tei (yeah that Numa Numa song)....
Spirit In The Sky... wtf? I stripped to Jesus!
-
Re: Oddest song you have danced to
I danced to the oldie "Leader of the Pack"..... lol it was fun actually!!
-
Re: Oddest song you have danced to
At my old club, if you were late on stage, you either had to dance to, "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy," by some country artist I can't remember, or Monty Python's "Isn't it Nice to Have a Cock?" I think it's actually called the Penis Song, but it was HI-larious.
One girl used to dance to "You Never Called me By Name" by David Allen Coe, which would KILL the atmosphere. I can understand if you're in a room full of people who know it and like to sing along, but in a room full of blue-collar men who barely speak english, it doesn't fly nearly as well.
-
Re: Oddest song you have danced to
Oh gads, lol, I used to do that Coe song all the time in Atlanta. Some of the Outlaws were particularly fond of it and always tipped well for it, especially if it was paired up with "Honkey Tonk Women".

Re: Oddest song you have danced to
If it's dead at work and I can get the dj to do it, I like to dance to bloodhound gang's lapdance is so much better when the stripper is crying... it's about this sick psycho perverted trucker who is obsessed with a stripper named bambi who turns out to be a runaway.... haha... you have to have a sick sense of humor to like the song
-
Re: Oddest song you have danced to
heh,
I had a DJ that used to put that one on when I'd dance in the afternoon.
oddest song had to be Monty Python's Sit on My Face and Tell Me that You Love Me

Re: Oddest song you have danced to
