Phoenix clubs that don't require a licence
Hi,
Anybody from Phoenix or area, what clubs do not require the dancer's liscence?
For non-licenced clubs, which would you say has the best money-making potnetial?
I'm going to be staying near the Airport; do airport area clubs require the licence too?
Spankx

Re: Phoenix clubs that don't require a licence
ALL Phoenix clubs require a license. $25 10th floor, 200 W Washington St. No exceptions, its just like Vegas...either you have a license or you don't work in this city.
Scottsdale clubs are under a lot of police scrutiny lately, since city council is voting next month to ban lap dances. Here is a copy of the article.
Strip club law revisions due for council decision
By Ryan Gabrielson, Tribune
October 23, 2005
Changes are coming for a Scottsdale ordinance that bans strippers from performing offstage, but city officials are waiting to disclose their ideas.
The ordinance hasn’t been enforced in at least two years because of concerns about its legality.
Last year, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals struck down sections of Maricopa County’s strip club ordinance in a lawsuit brought by Dream Palace, an all-nude club just south of Scottsdale. That ruling likely invalidated some of the city’s regulations.
Any changes to the city’s sexually oriented business ordinance would be designed to ensure they do not violate the First Amendment, since strippers’ performances have been declared a form of free speech, Councilman Jim Lane said.
The City Council is scheduled to vote on the changes Nov. 15. To date, the council has only discussed the revisions in a closed meeting.
Mary Grace, an assistant city attorney, declined comment on Friday and referred all questions on the ordinance to Pat Dodds, a Scottsdale spokesman. Dodds said the city has hired Scott Bergthold, a Tennessee lawyer and expert on strip club regulations, to help craft the revisions.
Bergthold could not be reached for comment Friday.
The city’s two strip clubs have come under scrutiny from police, politicians and neighborhood activists after it became known over the summer that adult film mogul Jenna Jameson purchased a share of Babe’s Cabaret.
Skin Cabaret is Scottsdale’s only other topless bar. Both are on Scottsdale Road near its southern border with Tempe.
City officials — including Mayor Mary Manross and Councilmen Wayne Ecton and Bob Littlefield — have directed City Manager Jan Dolan and Scottsdale’s legal office to explore ways to shut down Babe’s.
Jameson officially purchased Babe’s last month with several business partners also from the adult film industry.
Scottsdale police and prosecutors began ignoring violations of the ordinance starting in August 2003 amid concerns that its regulations might be unconstitutional.
When regulating strip clubs, governments must walk a fine line not to bar protected speech, said Lawrence Walters, a Florida lawyer specializing in First Amendment issues.
Regulations that prohibit a stripper from performing offstage, as Scottsdale’s does, can be enforceable, Walters said.
"Some courts have upheld them and other courts have struck them down," he said.
"The real question," he added, "is what interference do those restrictions cause on the erotic message to be conveyed by the dancer?"
Re: Phoenix clubs that don't require a licence
Thanks Britney
Well is there anything outside the city limits where you don't need a liscence?
I don't know the area at all; someone told me Tuscon maybe?
Re: Phoenix clubs that don't require a licence
How about Christie's Cabaret in Tempe? I don't think Tempe requires a license.
Re: Phoenix clubs that don't require a licence
No licenses are required at these clubs:
Christies in Tempe
Angelos and Desert Flame (which is remodeled and now has liquor) in Apache Junction
Babes and Skin in Scottsdale
Also Tucson requires no licenses
Yuma requires no licenses
Re: Phoenix clubs that don't require a licence
Thanks Tina!
Any opinions on where the money is best out of those clubs you mentioned?
Anyone?
Re: Phoenix clubs that don't require a licence
Getting your license seriously takes 20 mins in and out.... and it is only 26.00. yep went up a whole buck this year lol. As long as you do not have a drug or prostitution charge on your record you can go in at 10 am and make it to any of the PHX clubs for their opening at 11am with time to spare.
Re: Phoenix clubs that don't require a licence
242_Fair, Christies Tempe is probably the best, but you should actually check out the Apache Junction clubs as a customer. This is snowbird season out there now, and I saw some pretty good potential in one of the clubs last year. Competition may not be so fierce out there, and it might work out in you favor $ wise.
Re: Phoenix clubs that don't require a licence
Ok maybe I will just get the liscence. Where can I find a website for the office in phoenix where you get it?
Re: Phoenix clubs that don't require a licence
it is the city hall......200 W Washington St 10th floor to fill out your paper work ...3rd floor to pay for it ...back to the 10th to pick it up
Re: Phoenix clubs that don't require a licence
Good info AZ is right next door. Ive been thinking of a pre-vegas road trip to see how I travel hundreds of miles.
Thanks for the info too!
Re: Phoenix clubs that don't require a licence
I heard there a new license law for Maricopa County now - dancers at Sonny's in Chandler are required to get a county license for $150/year. Haven't heard when this was passed and can't find any other info on it - I'm assuming this covers Tempe and Scottsdale clubs as well, since they're inside the county.
Anybody know anything?
Re: Phoenix clubs that don't require a licence
I've heard chatter about a "maricopa county" license as well. The city of Chandler has required a license for over a year now. I'd wager my bet that the city of Scottsdale (even if they don't ban lapdances) will follow suit.
Re: Phoenix clubs that don't require a licence
I read something on Tuscl about a Maricopa County license at $150/year, and mentioned it to a girl at work who agreed - that's where I heard it. But I've done some online searching for this law and can't find it. I was just wondering, if this IS a new county law, wouldn't PHX city clubs/girls be included since we're also in the county, or would there be some exception written into the code since we're already required to be licensed from the city? I know if we were required to get some new license, there'd be signs posted all over the dressing room.
Anyway, wtf is up with all this new regulation??? If they don't cool it we'll wind up in a 'houston' environment ::)
