Does anybody know any tips (diet, exercise, special foods, etc) that will take excess fat off the waist area?
No such thing as spot fat loss, you gotta lose it all over to lose it in the belly area -- it's just more noticeable because you bend there to sit down and the fat sorta wads up.
I've had good results with going to a gym 3x/week, 25-30 min. weight training/15-20 min. cardio, and keeping my meals small (eating as frequently as I want to, but no giant piles of food -- that "full" feeling is your body making fat.) After doing this for a month and a half my "pooch" is much smaller. It's not completely gone but close.
Everyone will tell you something different. Good luck!
^ She's right. Of course, you HAVE to watch what you eat. Having a "pooch" is a sign of eating the wrong foods. It usually gets stored in your stomach/waist/hips first. I really think that you should change your diet...dump the fast foods, skip all the prepared stuff and really eat as naturally as you can.
Also, learn to cook with Olive Oil. It's your best friend...namely in the fact that when it gets heated up, it doesn't go trans fatty on you. All of the other oils do.
Work out. Weight training is the best way to burn off fat while tightening and toning your muscles. Cardio will help speed up the fat loss.
Eat plenty. Every 2-3 hours your body is metabolically hungry. Eat fruits and veggies...drink some protein shakes...keep your body "full" and it'll be more willing to part with the fat stores it's been maintaining.
My diet and exercise are not the problem. I also realize that there is no such thing as fat reduction. However I do know that there are certain foods that can boost fat loss in the waist. Milk is one of these foods, but I'm vegan, so that's a definite no. I was wondering if anyone knew any more like this perhaps?
My secret is McDonald's. Just kidding.... but usually I can eat what I want and my waist stays small. On the other hand, my ass eats everything and packs it on. LOL.
I hear dairy is good for helping you lose weight....but it is only the calcium right? I'm not sure but you can get calcium from alot of other things, even tablets. And broccoli is the bomb, lol.
I've also heard dairy is good... have you ever heard of the Mediterranean (sp?) diet? I think that's supposed to be good for burning fat around the middle area...
Is your waist size simply larger than you like, or do you want to get rid of a tummy pouch? I only ask because some people just naturally have a larger waist, and the only way to trim it then is liposuction. You know what I mean? For instance, my friend Teresa has a good 15 lbs on me, and she wears a size 0 jeans because she carries her weight in her legs and has a tiny waist and small hips. Soo....
If your tummy is the problem, and you are excercisng and eating well, you might want to look into mesotherapy.
ps- you look like Brandi in your avatar!! Brandi's hot, so that's a compliment, in case you don't like her music or anything
Pilates! I love Pilates. My waist has shrunk to 22 inches. I was tiny before with a 26 inch waist, but now, my stomach is tight, not 6-packed or anything, just flat and firm. I haven't lost any weight either.
also kick boxing as you kicking from hip area and up so it wittles waist a bit. Pilates as said is amazing , but i find as soon as i stop for even just a week I get my muffin top back!!!!
Carrying weight around your middle can be a sign of bad cardiovascular health...so lay off the saturated fats, and if that's contributing to the problem, you should notice a small improvement.
^^^I believe this too. Ever since IBS forced me to go on a very low fat diet (I just about die in digestive rot if I have high fat anything, including any dairy or even a squirt of mayo!! pleasant!) I've noticed my waist has started to get much flatter...I've only lost ten pounds at most, but the flat stomach is the only difference in my appearance. Haha, not that chronic illness is the diet I'd choose, but the side effects of giving up caffeine and all kinds of high fats (especially saturated) really helps reduce that 'bloat' look I had on my tummy.
I was skinny/fat and the only way that I could lose the excess was to lay off sugar/starches and anything processed.
Well one tip I have learned from many of the Brazilian girls I work with is to wear a girdle. Many of them wear them all day and the results are a tiny and beautiful waste line. It to them is like wearing a bra. I have started wearing one and it works wonders. It trains my posture and also to suck my stomache in.
A girdle, or a corset?
What kind of girdle?
I think she meant those "waist only" corsets.
Dairy is the "natural source" of CLA.Quote:

The correct term for this is tight-lacing or corset training. It basically works by slightly pushing in your lower ribs (no this is not dangerous the lower ribs are soft) which results in a smaller waist.Quote:

I was just refering to the claim that people in general don't get enough CLA these days, and that is why Tonalin works. It was nothing against a vegan diet.
For the whole corset thing, does anyone know how long/often you have to wear it for he results to start showing. And will it just make you waist small or is there any way tomake your hip bones smaller?
quick hijack...I'm vegan, too! Vegan strippers unite!
Most Americans get far too much protein--actually causes things like osteoporosis.
End of hijack.
Re: CLA, most of the supplements available are from sunflower and safflower oil. Perhaps adding sunflower seeds would do just as well as dairy -- the amounts you get from dairy is pretty minimal anyway.
Yes, I'd like to know too. I've heard of training your waist but, I assumed that just meant you could tighten the corset little by little as you became adjusted over time. As soon as you take the corset off, the waist doesn't stay teeny, does it?
