Hi... any advice really appreciated re: building up legs
Hi, I'm Isobel... I'm a newbie and was hoping for some tips. i'm new to dancing professionally, I've been doing classes and dancing for fun since I was a kid, so i figured it was time to try earning some bucks from what i really love doing. Anyway, been hearing some negative comments recently about my legs. I'm tall, so they're always gonna be a bit lanky, but i've been trying to build up a bit more muscle and flesh them out some, people say they're a bit skinny and not that womanly. Any tips to get more curvy legs? Any advice very welcome, thanks!
p.s. for reference- my legs

Re: Hi... any advice really appreciated re: building up legs
A diet with more protein and weight training with heavier weights and fewer repetitions will help.
Re: Hi... any advice really appreciated re: building up legs
Those are nice pins. I think you're asking haters for advice. Anyhow, hit the gym station machine circuit (squats, presses, leg curls) and do some part-time Pilates or yoga for flexibility.

I will have to agree with Maxine. You have really awesome legs and there will be people out there who will give you counterproductive info.
Re: Hi... any advice really appreciated re: building up legs
onlythebest and maxine... thanks very much for the advice. I've never done any weight training, so I guess that's where I need to start focusing. I just feel exhausted after work and everything... i get lazy about hitting the gym. i always felt pretty ok about my legs, but sheesh, been hearing so much negativity about 'chicken legs' and 'skinny stork' comments that i'm thinking I need to do some work on them. I'll definitely look into the pilates, been meaning to try that for years. thanks again!
Re: Hi... any advice really appreciated re: building up legs
Yep,those would be the "hater" type comments.Don't worry about those idiots.
Re: Hi... any advice really appreciated re: building up legs
It's true, I hear some stuff from the hater brigade, but I ignore that crap. But I heard a bit of the same from a couple of people that I really trust. They're not typical catty confidence-wreckers... they're decent chicks, pretty good friends. I guess it struck a nerve with me, cause I'm not a tiny, petite ultra-womanly kinda girl, I'm about 6ft and always terrified of looking manly, you know? I know that sounds stupid, but I feel like a damn giant sometimes. And one of these chicks made a semi-joking comment about them looking a little like drag queen legs. That got me worried.
I know, I'm a hypersensitive wuss.
Re: Hi... any advice really appreciated re: building up legs
One the girls I have worked with was 6'2" and 6'7" with heels. She had long legs like you and never worried about the haters.Your friends might be secretly jealous.
Re: Hi... any advice really appreciated re: building up legs
I don't know... it's kinda sad feeling like you have to be suspicious of everything they say, if I didn't trust any of the girls, I'd be pretty miserable. Think I just need to thicken my skin a bit and roll with it. I'm going to try the weights and the pilates definitely. And many thanks again for the helpful advice, all, i really appreciate it.
Re: Hi... any advice really appreciated re: building up legs
no advice for you - but I had to throw in evaluation of your legs. Perfect. Beautiful. Long. The legs are good.
Re: Hi... any advice really appreciated re: building up legs
^ What Jenny said. Twice.
That said, lunges and squats will give you more tone, and OTB is right--bump up the protein in your diet, preferrably soy-based if you can tolerate it.

Gorgeous legs girlie. I'm so jealous. Sure some lunges and squats are extra icing but I'd be really happy with what you got.
