BA and Back to Work -- How Long?
Hey all! I'm having BA surgery next week and am trying to figure out how long I will be out of work. As in, how much money do I need to hustle in the next week to survive? Thanks in advance! Oh, I'm getting (probably) 300 ccs blown up to 340 or so and I'm 29.
p.s. what about running? how long until I can run again -- 5 or 6 miles?
Re: BA and Back to Work -- How Long?
oh, and he's going under the breast and under the muscle.
Re: BA and Back to Work -- How Long?
did you talk to your doctor about this?
mine is going totally under the muscle and said to plan for 2 weeks, which includes all exercise as well. I'm planning for a month just in case. It doesn't hurt to have a little extra....especially since you'll be so bored that you'll need money to entertain yourself.
Re: BA and Back to Work -- How Long?
I went under the muscle, I was out for four weeks but should have stayed out for 5 at least. i would suggest planning on a 6 week break just incase. You wont be able to do any exercises for 3 weeks is what my doc told me. You will feel well enough to go back to work, but you have to wait for your boobs to at least drop some. They look funny when you first get them. Trust me when I tell you that you arenot going to want to go back untill they drop a bit.
two weeks is a joke. I slept and was dopped up on demerol for a week and then for the nest week i couldnt be up for more than 30 min without being so exhausted i felt like i was going to faint. Surgery really does a number on your body.
Re: BA and Back to Work -- How Long?
thanks ladies! gosh, lady, sounds a lot more serious than i anticipated! I'm going for my pre-op stuff today ... i'll ask more questions. emily, when are you having your surgery?
Re: BA and Back to Work -- How Long?
I agree that 6 weeks is a good number. My friend took 3 months to recover as a result of infections... ACK.
As for running, I've heard many women tell me 8 weeks before they can run again.
Re: BA and Back to Work -- How Long?
I can run now as long as i have a supportive bra on. They are very heavy. I am 7 weeks po.
Re: BA and Back to Work -- How Long?
For me it was no lifting arms past shoulder or with any weight for a week and no strenuous or upper body exercise for 3 weeks. After that it would depend on how I felt.
By the end of the 3 weeks I felt fine to work out and resume all normal activities. I was still a tad sore now and then but nothing to write home about, just my torso getting used to the new boobies ;)
Re: BA and Back to Work -- How Long?
I had under the muscle and waited 8 weeks. I wouldnt recommend pole work for awhile.
Dont rush healing because it doesnt work and the last damn thing you want is a bad boob job from the results of going back to work way too early.
Re: BA and Back to Work -- How Long?
Also, it's going to take longer to heal if you're around cigarette smoke. Your PS probably told you to stop smoking if you do because it slows healing by constricting the capilaries. I don't smoke, so this isn't an issue for me, but I'm around a lot of 2nd hand smoke at work.
Re: BA and Back to Work -- How Long?
I smoke, it was the firlst thing i did when i got in the car after i woke up. I know i shouldnt have, but i needed a ciggarette bad. They say how bad it affects everything but my doc said that with what he did to my muscles, (He did an internal lift) I was healing extremly well. I tan now, i havent put anyhink on my scars and i can barely see them, i am getting a lot of questions about if my boobs are real or not.
Re: BA and Back to Work -- How Long?
Lady, how many ccs did you get? My surgery is Weds. :O and I'm still debating between 300 and 325 ccs. And then they blow them up more, of course. So, if I get 300 pumped up to 340, do I say I have 340 ccs? /:O I guess so.
How far do you run? I go 5-6 miles ... so is it uncomfortable how heavy they are ... I love to run with my dog every day. :(
I quit smoking Friday after reading horror stories here (I think) and elsewhere. But I only smoked a few per day. I was inhaling second hand smoke all weekend at the club though, of course. But you know, I thought it would be nearly impossible to not smoke at the club. It wasn't that bad. I think I made more money skipping my cig breaks. I'm not going to start again ... I always said I'd quit by 30 and I'll be there in a couple of months ...
Re: BA and Back to Work -- How Long?

How big do you want to go? The rule of thumb is that 150cc is a cup size in the low volume (like if you are an A) and 250cc is one cup size in the higher volumes. If you think 300 is what you want, and you can see yourself possibly wanting bigger boobs, go with a little higher. If you are absolutely adamant about not being "too big", go with the lower.
Ask your surgeon when you can go back to working out. Mine said 2 weeks.
Re: BA and Back to Work -- How Long?
oh, that's interesting, emily, thx. my doc said in two weeks i can exercise at 50% intensity. he seems to think, b/c of my broad shoulders, i'd look better going higher. but then we mentioned how i love to run, he said maybe just 300 then. quite the quandary! have you decided how big you're going?
Re: BA and Back to Work -- How Long?
you should listen to him then!
The #1 complaint women seem to have after surgery is they wish they went larger.
Re: BA and Back to Work -- How Long?
followed your advise and did what he suggested. 325 ccs pumped to 360. so, when ppl ask i say i got 360? right now they look like alien boobies nearly up in my face.
Re: BA and Back to Work -- How Long?
i went under the muscle and was out for 4 weeks, but slowly became active by 3 weeks. I will say to wait it out until atleast a month has gone by before you try to be totally active. I had werid looking boobies too, but in a month they will have settled in much better.
