online casino promoting? anyone?
I have been looking into promoting online casino's for extra cash. A lot of guys on the bulletin boards I go to are claiming high five figure a month incomes for running these promotion casino sites. Anyone have any experience or know anyone doing this? Just thought I would ask... thanks..

Warning Mr. Robinson......Warning!!!!!!!!!!
During one of those great chats between very talented tax lawyer and CPA about various risks associated with certain activites that are illegal - we had a great discussion about the risks associated with promoting and benefiting and operating internet based gambling in the U.S.
Recent cases have held that even attornies and accountants that are related to and profit from providing services to/for online gambling are at risk of being in violation of a number of laws and statutes.
If law/accounting advisors can be snared in a "net" - I would believe that a "promoter" of such sites would more easily be involved and at risk.
Accordingly, I advise against - or at a minimum proceed only after a consultation with an internet/1st amendment lawyer.

I have been told that since I would just be providing banners to the casino's that it just falls under advertising but I did find that hard to believe. Too bad, there seems to be a lot of people making huge bucks promoting these. I'll stay clear just to be safe. Thanks
Re: online casino promoting? anyone?
I play a lot of $1/$2 LHE poker online and use rakeback affiliates, that alone adds up. So I looked into becoming an affiliate for those and casinos in general. I decided against it because of the fine print.
My main issue is that you cannot just keep generating revenue doing nothing, it is continuous work. If you do not continue to sign up people, you lose your current customers.
With poker sites, you are not liable for gains your players make via playing. At regular gambling sites, you are liable against any earnings you did make usually for the next 3 months. The length of time you are liable depends on the site. You are also responsible for the 'bonus' offers you player makes on most for both sites.
There are some other things but those were my major issues. Personally I think porn is much better for affiliate sites. Good split, no recurring limit, and you never lose your customers last time I did it.

Kyle,
I would not get within 200 miles of such a venture. The activity itself is illegal under several laws. If some one tries to snow you with some first amendment agruement that it is legal, remember this is not "speech" to the court. To the court it is "commercial speech" which means you have no first amendment protection for all practical purposes.
Imagine, if you will, that instead of your advertising foreign casinos, you were advertising foreign heroin dealers. No court in the US would protect that under a first amendment defense.
If you do not believe that formulation, consider this. If there was a snowball's chance in hell that their was a way to do this, the tobacco companies would have been all over it like flies on shit 5 years ago.
They may have promising 5 figure incomes, but not telling you about the 6-figure legal bills, or the 2-digit jail terms.
Re: online casino promoting? anyone?
I am taking all of your advise and avoiding them. It was just an interest I had but I have too much on the line to risk and I don't feel like spending every day on the computer anyway. Thanks again for helping me with my decision. I'll stick with my business and what I know.
