Working New Years?
I was wondering if anyone had any advice on whether to work New Years eve. I know its a little early to ask, but I'm planning on going home to see the parents and friends for Christmas and I was wondering if I should go back to work on new years or not. Is that a good night to make money?
Thanks guys!

Re: Working New Years?
Of all the New Year's Eves that I've been in this business, I can remember only one that turned out really well ... when a group of Japanese business guys walked into a New York club to celebrate the end of their business trip and 'kill time' until their flight left on New Years Morning. It turns out that people willing to fly on holidays themselves can get major discounts on airfare, versus paying top buck a few days before or after the holiday when most people want to travel. So if you can work at a club that is close to an airport, New Years Eve might turn out great for you too !
Other than that, New Year's Eve has a lot of negatives going for it these days. It's the #1 night for DWI sweeps/arrests, for starters, putting a damper on clubs that guys have to drive to (vs cab/subway). 'Mainstream' clubs offer their most risque' entertainment and wildest customers, meaning many young single guys have better odds 'getting lucky' in a mainstream club on New Years Eve. Family guys are usually 'stuck' with their family on New Years Eve. Thus the primary group of New Years Eve club customers are probably 'lonely guys', who will seek lots of your attention but who may not have much money to spend.

Re: Working New Years?
don't work new years eve- new years eve is a night where couples go out, and at least half, if not more, of strip club customers are married or are dating someone- so they will probably going out with their girlfriend or wife that night. while some single guys may come in, more will probably go to regular bars or nightclubs where they have special events planned

Re: Working New Years?
New Years is good to work. Not great money but its good and that night can be fun.

Re: Working New Years?
Awww, you just reminded me of the last New Year's I worked- employees & customers all stepped outside at midnight to see 2 simeltaneous fireworks shows. This was on Guam right after Supertyphoon Pongsona, so everyone was glad to bid 2002 good-bye. LOL
(In truth though, I think that night is best spent with family & friends.)

Re: Working New Years?
Every New Years has been awful for me; I always dress up and set off into the night with the intention of having a rocking good time but end up in the worst of moods :-\
So this year, rather than spend a few hundred on going out (dress, drinks, entry fees, cabs, etc) and having a miserable time, I'm going to work. Even if I only make $20 I don't care, it's still better than my usual New Years antics!

Re: Working New Years?
I always did pretty well on New Years...

Re: Working New Years?
I'm working it..I never go out New Years anyways!

Re: Working New Years?
Same here....i'm not going anywhere special and my family will all be asleep by the time midnight rolls around! I might as well spend it at work where i can have some fun lol!

Re: Working New Years?
I wish I had gone somewhere and worked this previous week however I couldn't. I know my NYE 2004/05 was fabolous! I was in Rockhampton at the time and made just a few $$ short of $1000. I also remember having another night prior to NYE where I did make just over $1000. I had a grand ol' time however since Rocky doesn't do one week contracts and I didn't have a good experience there last time I didn't consider it.
Maybe next year I will head off to Adelaide and work with you Natalia ;) Yet that is ages away and ALOT can happen in one year (or so I have learnt  ).
(If my memory serves me correctly my 2004/05 NYE was spent at a local club working.. I managed to be booked out for 3 hours by a group of guys (they booked multiple girls I was one of them) and then had a good time working that night don't really recall what type of money I made just that I had a good time).
So even if you don't make much money you'll most likely have a grand ol' time anyway! ;D

Re: Working New Years?
I worked and it was baaaaaad. Few dancers and we all made, like, $10 each.

Re: Working New Years?
new year's was pretty decent. the customers were difficult to persuade, but once everything was explained to them, they ponied up, so all the girls did at least normal money for the saturday.
-
Re: Working New Years?
Yeah, it was normal money up here- I did a bit better than average for a Sat.

Re: Working New Years?
It was my 2nd night back dancing and I did well because I saw one of my old regulars and we did a champagne room plus more dances before and after. What started off s*** turned to gold!

Re: Working New Years?
Mine was really good. I'm so glad I went in. Nice to work with the girls--I like who i work with. And I had nothing better to do. It was great for a Saturday--less crowded than usual. Met a group of Asian guys whose arms were easy to twist. Then the last hour I made half of my earnings for the night jumping from guy to guy. The last couple dances I decided to forgoe getting dressed and just ran up to the next guy and said, hey, let's do this dance. We're running out of time. haha! I banked at the end!
Agreed with more couples in the place.
We had nice groups of spenders though, again not just groups of guys but groups of 4 girls/4 guys etc etc. But they SPENT.
Downside--DJ got wasted and turned up the music so loud the stage was hopping under our feet and he almost blew the speakers. You could NOT carry on a conversation. I had to plug my ears in the dressing room because they physically HURT. Then he told the audience "If you dont like it loud, fuck you! Go home!!" That was only the beginning, too. geez...so unprofessional. He let a girl on the mic too to tell off her ex. Then he was calling girls that had just been on stage already. Interrupting the songs with YEEEEHAW!!!!! and WOOOOOOO!!!! It was beyond funny at a certain point. We kind of felt sorry for him.

Re: Working New Years?
^^ LOL!
I didn't work last night, partied and got more wasted than I have in YEARS instead. Last night was fun - today, ugh.
Worked Friday afternoon, 2:30-6:30pm - got out of the office early so just went straight to the club. It was the busiest I've seen it at that time of day, and the guys were definitely spending. I banked! ;D

Re: Working New Years?
i mgiht work new year's eve at some point...but this year? hell no!
I've been stuck in low-wage (mostly waitressing) jobs since i was 15 years old, and there have always been stupid mandatory holiday shifts. Consequently, I've never been able to go anywhere (esp. out of state) with friends. This year, for the first time in six years, i went out and did something fun on new year's.
